Little Island House är ett två våningar hemma i Bass Harbor, på vattnet.

En går in på övervåningen vid ytter trappan till däck och skjutdörr. Gå in i vardagsrummet / matsalen, med en granit spis från golv till tak och katedralen tak med takfönster. Köket (nyrenoverat 2015) är välutrustat och har en fantastisk utsikt över sin egen. Ett studieområde vid foten av trappan till sovrummet utökar ditt bostadsområde. Sovrummet på tredje våningen, även med takfönster, har en dubbelsäng. Badrummet / dusch är runt hörnet från köket. Däck sträcker sig runt huset och framsidan av huset. Lägenheten rymmer två.

Lägenheten har centralvärme för lågsäsongen, utmärkt ventilation på sommaren och allt ved man vill ha. Dessutom ingår kabel-TV, telefon, WiFi, alla sängkläder (säng, badkar och kök) och välutrustat kök. Obefläckat ren, härlig inredning. Utomhus: däckmöbler och grill .. Ingen rökning, inga husdjur.

Glad att vara på "den tysta sidan": Utsikten är vackra. Bass Harbor har fotograferats för omslaget till en National Geographic-bok om New England och har varit platsen för flera filmer. Hummerfiskebåtarna är alltid intressanta, och om du älskar djurliv, svänger örnar över hamnen dagligen. Vi räknade tolv hägrar i lågvatten en septemberdag och har sett lovar, ankor, tärnar och måsar arbeta i hamnen.

Även om vi bara är trettio minuter från Bar Harbor, är vi väsentligen mycket olika. Bass Harbor är en liten fiskeby och en fungerande hamn i södra änden av Mount Desert Island. Vi kallas "Den lugna sidan av ön." Det finns mycket att göra här: Bass Harbor Head-fyren, Wonderland och Ship Harbor (del av Acadia National Park) ligger bara en mil eller två bort. På Little Island Marine, den lilla båtgården som delar halvön med huset, gör Island Cruise naturutflykter och lunchkryssningar dagligen, och Richard Stanley Custom Boats har alltid intressanta träbåtprojekt på gång. Restauranger är inom gångavstånd
distans.

Such a wonderful home away from home. The views are stunning from every window and the deck. We loved spending time at the house as much as visiting other sites on MDI. The nature cruise from Bass Harbor Cruises was wonderful and informative. Loved staying in Bass Harbor - everything a relaxing vacation should be.

Exceptional rental house, amazing setting. Loved the panoramic views of the bay, the open but cozy living space, and the clean and fresh condition of the house. Although the location is at the southern tip of the island, we were able to easily get to the other parts of the island and Acadia NP. Enjoyed the nearby restaurant that has a patio on the bay. Great communication with our host.

Breathtaking location

When we walked in we were in awe of the view from all of the windows in the home. It was very clean and beautifully furnished. We were very close to Thurstons for delicious lobster. I would recommend this rental property to everyone.

Paradise on the quiet side

The view of Bass Harbor out our windows and our private deck was beautiful! The house was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped. We are discussing when we can come again!

Acadia National Park Trip

This lovely upstairs cottage was super clean and had all the supplies possible needed for our stay. We enjoyed the water view during high tide. Certainly interesting to see how low the water level is during low tide twice a day, Very quiet on this side of the island. Close to a couple of beautiful trails and the Lighthouse. Easy to communicate with owner.

Little Island Gem

This was our first trip to Mt. Desert Island. We loved that the house was located right at the water's edge. It was very comfortable and we enjoyed watching the activity of the harbor. We also enjoyed a number of sensational sunsets from the deck. We would love to come back and stay longer next time as we felt we only scratched the surface of things to do in Acadia.

Quintessential Mount Desert Island

Beautiful apartment with 270 Degree Views. Great sunset views. Perfect stay on the quiet side of MDI. We love to look out in the working harbor and see the lobster boats come and go. Very comfortable Nicely furnished place with a well equipped kitchen. We will be back!

Great views- beyond expectations!

This was a really wonderful place to stay in all ways. It was on the quiet side of the island, which we loved. The views from the condo are spectacular, the place was very well cared for and well equipped and was such a comfortable place to be. The owner was really responsive and kind. We took a wonderful nature cruise that was family run by the owners kids and loved it! We had to leave a day early but will definitely try to return!

A gem on the quiet side of MDI

Clean, bright and well appointed, this place sparkles even when the fog rolls in. It's a very comfortable, quiet house with plenty of room inside and out on the deck. Charlene is warm and friendly and ready to answer any questions. It's worth the drive to Bass Harbor; bring your binos to watch the boat and bird activity out on the water.

Just what we wanted!

This property is located in a very quiet neighborhood with the best views of what makes Maine iconic - mountains, water, boats, fog, wildlife. It was simply a spot that was good for the soul. We were torn each day with exploring and hiking or sitting on the deck to enjoy the changing tides and the beautiful sunsets. It was clean, so well stocked, and had hosts who were receptive to our questions. I honestly hate to share information on this little slice of Maine and keep it to ourselves, but share, I will! Make the reservation, and enjoy! Thank you for being a huge part of our ninth stay in Maine. We do love it there!

Stunning views, super convenient and superbly appointed rental

I knew the property would have wonderful views...and it didn't disappoint! Based on other reviews, I was expecting it to be nice, but wow! First impression was that it is bigger than I thought it would be. That's always a nice surprise! It was spotlessly clean and the kitchen is top notch with fabulous appliances and finishes (no ice maker, but there are ice cube trays). We cooked a lot of our meals and there wasn't one thing missing from the kitchen in terms of supplies and even spices. We steamed lobster twice (bought them at Thurston's across the harbor) in the lobster pot. The bed is super comfy! The big fireplace came in handy one chilly morning. The owners are very responsive and truly want you to feel at home... The harbor is endlessly interesting with all the lobster boats coming and going. The dock near the house is the departure point for Island Cruises which we took and it was FANTASTIC! We saw eagles, seals and got to learn a bit about the lobster fishing trade. It's an easy, scenic drive to Acadia and even more so to the spots on the Quiet side. One thing to be aware of is that there are a lot of stairs and they're a bit steep going up to the entrance and there are also stairs up to the bedroom from the living area ...if climbing stairs is a problem, this is probably not the place for you. Other than that, I couldn't recommend this place more!

You won’t be disappointed

The Little Island house has magnificent views of the harbor and inlet. The home is clean, the host have provided everything you would need for a stay. There is great communication with the hosts. Lastly, the town has lots of restaurants and shops and is not too far from Bar Harbor. There are many great hikes just minutes away and several ponds for paddle boarding/kayaking. There is something for everyone!!

Fall Vacation

Our stay was amazing. The view was amazing and relaxing. The house was amazing and extremely clean. Well appointed and comfortable, felt like home. It was hard to leave. Loved watching the lobster boats. This is a great place and we can't say enough about it. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Such A Lovely Spot That we Came Back Again for Two Weeks This Time

Perfect spot to appreciate MDI with a 270 degree view of Bass Harbor — which is a scenic working harbor on MDI. Everything was as promised and very responsive hosts. We will be back!

Little Island House

We couldn't believe this place when we arrived. It was absolutely spotless. So spotless, in fact, that you could eat off the floor! There wasn't a even a mark on the wall! The watercolor of the Little Island House hanging on the dining room wall was beautiful as well. And we couldn't have asked for a better view. Waking up each morning to the sunrise and enjoying the sunset at night was incredible! It was so quiet and serene even with a tourist attraction next door and neighbors below us! I would recommend this place to anyone. Charlene, you outdid yourself! We didn't want to leave but we hope to come back some day. David and Linda McLean

Born and raised in Texas, I met (and later married) Kim Strauss, my husband, at the University of Texas in El Paso in 1969. He could hardly wait to show me Gotts Island, Maine, where he'd spent every summer of his life. I fell in love with the island. We traveled some, but spent as much time as we could on the Island, where our first child, Lorraine, was born. Kentucky, where we had our son, Eli, was home for seven years, then in Texas, we had our son Bob. Shortly after that, we headed back to Maine and ended up buying a house in Bass Harbor.
And here we've stayed, living near the Little Island House in the off-season and moving out to Gotts Island during Maine's beautiful good weather, May to October, when we rent the Little Island House.
