Ware Haven Cottage ligger på Ware River i Gloucester County, VA. En 20 minuters båtresa till Chesapeake Bay. Njut stillsamt undangömda i en lugn miljö, samtidigt som bara en kort bit från fina restauranger och shopping i historiska Gloucester Courthouse-området. Båt docka tillgänglig för dockning din båt (små båtuthyrning finns i området), och båt ramp på fastigheten. Njuta av bad, fiske, paddling, segling, paddla ombordstigning, eller bara koppla av i hängmattan. Utomhus spel som finns är basket, boccia boll, badminton, och tjuder boll. Du kan välja att koppla av i 20x40-poolen under simsäsongen (mitten av maj till slutet av september) med omfattande pooldäck, bra för avkoppling med en kall drink och en trevlig bok. Den stora avskärmade i veranda erbjuder långa utsikt över floden som helst på dygnet. Vi njuta av den stora eldstaden när det blir kallare ute. Det är perfekt för marshmallow rostning och gör s'mores!
Observera - Ägare bor intill och kan dela piren ibland. Vi är också i ett landsbygdsområde och vi är sist på kabeln så wifi-anslutningen finns där men inte så mycket som i många förorts- / storstadsområden. Om du är här för höghastighetsinternet kan vi inte vara det bästa alternativet.

Beautiful area, pool was pristine, water view - Eagle, gulls, big blue. Downtown Gloucester 9 minutes, great Thai/Japanese restaurant. Grilled out one night. Quiet, lovely neighbors too. We are older, the stairs to the upstairs are steep,but good railing, bathroom downstairs so middle of the night visit took a little thought. :)Clean, well stocked, screened porch, rocking chairs, delightful!

Beautiful setting. Loved the views, screened porch and pool. Unfortunately the bedroom situation wasn’t a good match for us due to the steep narrow steps to loft queen. If you wish a tranquil setting and a charming cottage this meets the bill.

Home away from Home

This is our second year coming to the Ware Haven Cottage. We have made some of the most memorable family memories here and absolutely love it! The pool is such a great way to relax and cool off from the great dock fishing experience. We cannot say enough amazing things about the cottage and Cindy and Steve. We can’t wait to come back another year to this phenomenal cottage.

A true piece of HEAVEN

The cottage was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. It has all the conveniences of being at home in a peaceful vacation setting. We loved the salt-water pool, the pier for a relaxing fishing time, and gorgeous sunset. My son enjoyed the baseball court. We were looking forward to just stay at the property to enjoy the summer days, but we were happy to know that is conveniently located close to mayor stores and a quaint local ice cream parlor we had to visit few times. The historic district is a fantastic place to discover. This was a vacation we won’t forget.

Absolutely Perfect

My husband, myself, and our three children (ages 3,5,12) had an amazing week at Cindy and Steve’s river house. The location was perfect. So close to everything (shopping, restaurants, historical sites, and door dash even came to our door) but you feel like you are truly away from it all. The house itself was super clean and has everything you need. The queen bedroom is basically a loft, very private but it does not have a door at the top of the stairs. You will need to bring a gate is you want to contain your young children upstairs with you. The kids (and us kids at heart) loved the pool! It was crystal clear, refreshing, and a perfect place to spend the afternoon as a family in the hot Virginia sun. Though what really drew us to the area was the crabbing and that did not disappoint! Cindy and Steve even provided an extra crab pot to better our odds. We ate crab every night and there was even an extra large steaming pot on site as a bonus to cook our catch. This visit was exactly what we needed as a family to get away from it all and just relax. The kids are already asking if we can go back. Thank you Cindy and Steve for sharing your home with us!

Charming Cottage

We just got back today from the Ware Haven Cottage and are already discussing when we can go back. Steve & Cindy are wonderful hosts who were very responsive throughout the booking and stay. The property, itself, was amazing. Very neat and organized, equipped with everything we needed to make the stay comfortable, with plenty of places in the house and on the property to relax. Complimenting all of this was the beautiful view of the Ware River that you can see from almost anywhere in the house. What made the property especially convenient to us was the proximity to downtown Gloucester as well as the local Walmart (both under 10 minutes away).We took our two children (ages 9 &11) and they spent their days (and evenings), either swimming in the pool, reading, or playing outside (kayaking, basketball court, frisbee, fishing). Everything the kids needed was organized in a shed outside of the main house. Thank you Steve & Cindy!

Relaxing stay!

The place was super duper clean! Perfect place for our family of four and the kids loved having a pool to ourselves for the stay. Loved that the pool had a shallow end about three feet that the kids could walk around in, but a deep end deep enough that they could jump in! Gorgeous sunsets and we loved the screened porch for bug-free and sunburn-free play in the middle of the day.

Great property for a quiet family trip!

Our family had a great stay here! The property grounds were beautiful and my teens loved the kayaks and dock for fishing. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. I wouldn’t recommend it for small children because it’s not really easy to baby proof but that’s easy to see from the pictures. I was just more focused on the outdoors to keep my older kids occupied. We did get to enjoy the pool on the days that were nice (it was a rainy week) which was beautiful and the swings were great for my littles. The instructions were clear, which I loved, so we could make sure we took care of everything to leave it as expected. We would definitely stay here again if we were traveling without toddlers!

Excellent

This is an exceptional place. The location is just stunning, and it is nicely hidden 1/2 mile or so through some woods off of a rural road, but groceries etc are available about 10 mins away. Really good fishing off the pier. Location is reasonably close to a lot of interesting things to do (Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, Yorktown, etc.), but also nice just to hang out at the cottage. Space was good for family of four. Exceptionally clean.

Calm and relaxing

We were looking for a quiet place to swim and enjoy the waterfront, and Ware Haven was just perfect. The house was clean and comfortable and the pool (although cold for the end of the season) was sparkling and so, so relaxing. We brought floats but there were all kinds of noodles and floats available. We loved seeing which birds were perched in the trees by the water throughout the day and spotting crabs in the water around the dock. It's a lovely place to spend time. It was an easy drive into Gloucester where the food and shops were wonderful. Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming. I'll be recommending the area and Ware Haven in particular to everyone.

A wonderful time of solitude

Gorgeous and immaculate property. The pool (a rarity in the majority of rental properties on the Middle Peninsula) was the cherry on top! The welcome basket was a lovely touch and much appreciated. Only suggestion I might offer is for a lamp or two in the living room to avoid having to use bright overhead lights at night. A gem of a property otherwise.

Breathtaking

Property is absolutely amazing. The drive in to the property makes it feel like your miles away from everything, but walmart and restaurants are 10 minutes up the road. We loved the pool. We got to see a couple egret, a couple river otters but the best was the 4 dolphins that came in. My husband caught a small sand shark which we did not expect! Small slice of heaven

This cottage has everything you could ever want to for a peaceful vacation. The large pool was at about 90 degrees and perfect for swimming on a hot summer day. The views are just incredible, you’re tucked away in the woods, but also overlooking the quiet river and pond with great birdwatching. The dock is a great place to watch the sunset and so is the screened in porch! The home is very clean and tidy and all linens are provided. The location is tucked away, quiet and peaceful, yet stores, shopping centers, restaurants and gas are only a 10 min drive away. We’ve stayed here twice and plan to stay again!

Relaxing!

We enjoyed this vacation home so much! The outside is amazing. The kids had so much to do outside. We caught fish and crabs off the pier. My 17 year old and 12 year old went fishing on the kayaks. The pool was so nice to have. My 7 year old loved the pool. There is also a basketball hoop, swings and fire pit we enjoyed. Inside the screened in porch was our favorite. We used one Picnic table to eat and the other for puzzles. The bedroom upstairs is open and the steps are small. The bathroom shower is on the small side. The washer and dryer is in the garage. This house is very clean. The area is our favorite! There is so much stuff to do. Walmart is just 10 minutes away we used for groceries. We went to the zoo that was an hour away. We went to Bush Gardens that was about 30 minutes away. We had an amazing vacation filled with so many memories! :)

Beautiful location

Absolutely beautiful outdoors right on the river. Peaceful and lovely. Home inside is smallish but just right for 2-3 people. We stayed with our college age daughter and it was fine. My only suggestion for the place would be some lamps in the living room to avoid having to use overhead lights in the evening. I would not suggest staying in this location with any small children—the steps to the loft bedroom are open and a fall risk for littles.

Relaxing and comfortable, the perfect get away

The sunsets and sunrises were magnificent. This vacation cottage was a perfect get away vacation. Property and pool were super clean. Caught 20+ Croakers off the dock when fishing (hint use raw shrimp) Will definitely come again! Thank you Lannings!

River-front with pool

This property is a peaceful river-front retreat, complete with plenty to do. We kayaked, biked, played basketball, swam (in the beautiful pool), ate outside and watched the various local birds with our binoculars. A large fire pit was made available too. There were also plenty of programs/movies & plenty of space for us. We visited Williamsburg area (Busch Gardens), Virginia Beach (dinner & escape room) as well as Urbana for minigolf and ice cream. A nearby restaurant had great food, including seafood. Our hosts were available and helpful - leaving us wonderful gifts from vendors in the area. The house & property is beautiful - a must stay.

A rural Virginia experience for a Colorado family

Sweet cottage right on the river. Our highlights were watching the birds play every morning- we loved seeing the ospreys take care of their baby, the red cardinals, and the blue birds chasing the squirrels! The scenery is just beautiful, it almost makes you sad. The twinkling lights of houses across the river are straight out of a Miyazaki movie. The kayaks were enjoyed by my teenager and hubby. The house was well kept and had everything we needed. We enjoyed all the windows everywhere looking out on the river. My great hope for my Colorado born kids to play with the fire flies but they stayed on the marsh, oh well maybe next time? My kids loved chasing and holding frogs. That was a highlight! The areas close by are very rural, was a novelty for us. We enjoyed Williamsburg but our favorite was the Living Virginia Museum. Steve was a very responsive host. Always available by phone! His laundry room help was much appreciated. This was our kiss’ first time to the east coast and here are some adjectives they used to describe Virginia - spacious, green, mysterious, picturesque and storied! We had a great time, thank you Steve!

Beautiful Views, Quiet Getaway

This house is just lovely. We took our tween boys down for spring break so we could visit Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. Those destinations are a bit of a drive, but the relaxation at the cottage makes it worth it. The boys enjoyed the basketball court and fishing off the dock. I think the house would be exceptional when the pool is open and it’s warm enough to sip your coffee on the screened in porch. (We were there in a chilly, windy late March). Highly recommend!

A fall break getaway

My family and I all have different ideas for what we wanted to do for our fall break vacation and the Williamsburg area met them all. We picked this place due to having a pool and kayaks. The place was cute and quaint. Close enough to Williamsburg but far enough to be away from people. The hosts were very prompt in communications and left a welcome gift for us. The place was clean and well maintained.

We love to boat, swim, and spend time outdoors. We lived in ‘the city’ for a long time, but couldn’t resist the charm of Gloucester County! We fell in love with this property in 1995 for its beautiful views, privacy, and central location in the county. We have raised our three children here, and they are among the biggest fans of the Cottage! We especially love that our grown children love the Cottage, too, and are always happy to come back for fun, family days spent on the river!

Gloucester County offers an ‘off the beaten path,’ small-town feel. The local dining and shopping on Main Street are just ten minutes away and remind us how simple life can be. The Gloucester Brewing Company, our very own microbrewery, is a very popular spot on Main Street.
This property offers privacy and seclusion while being close to many conveniences we’re used to. We love eating quiet dinners on the pool deck, enjoying the views and the peaceful quiet after a fun day playing on the river or the pool. But when we need to, we can always run to the local Walmart, Food Lion, or Dollar General!
