Not suitable for a summer rental

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very unhappy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property we originally booked was dirty so management offered to move us to this property or another one on the spot. Overall, this house was clean and comfortable. However, the property needs a few upgrades. There is no door between the master bedroom and bathroom which was rather awkward when using the toilet. A simple tension rod with a curtain would solve this issue. Also, there is no closet in the master bedroom. A few hooks in the bathroom to hang clothes would be helpful. The bedroom door squeaks very badly. Upstairs in the main living area and kitchen, there are no curtains on the windows. The heat from the sun made it unbearable to sit in this room. A ceiling fan would help in the kitchen area. Overall, the property management provided good customer service.

Retreat in the woods

This was a beautiful property! We loved the rustic decor that went so well with the surroundings. The treetop feel had us referring to it as our "Swiss Family Robinson" retreat. The hot tub was arguably the favorite of the family. The kitchen was well stocked and a delight to cook in. The only downside was the tub jets in the master tub that blew black gunk when turned on. We choose not to use them. The cabin is very close to the Alpine Zoo and Tanks donuts which were favorites with our family!

The only thing is the cabin was not cleaned very well with hair left in tub, drawers, counters and floors. But other than that the cabin was amazing. Would definitely go back again. Great Cabin

Great stay. Cabin looks exactly like the photos but better. Very good condition. Bring your own paper towels, dishwasher soap and trash bags (for as much as this place costs per night, one would think it should be included). Two other minor things were that the hot tub jets did not work and the front walk was not shoveled. Fell several times bringing in our items (liability since there was not even an attempt?). Otherwise, highly recommended.

Lack of Maintenance

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I understand that staffing issues abound, but I do need to give my an honest opinion of our stay to others because after all I planned a perfect snowy anniversary week there alone with my wife and spent over 3200 hard earned dollars. The cabin was very spacious and really beautiful. The heater and fireplace were very warm although the heater was slightly erratic and the filter in hallway was pretty dirty. The living room sofa sleeper as a couch was a little saggy, but the 3 chairs were all very large and comfy. The material on all the living room furniture is very durable, but abrasive so we used sheets or blankets to cover. The 70" TV in living room is great, but others are old. The cable service + Roku extras were a nice surprise. The appliances were functional as were the faucets and hot water availability. The deck hot tub lid was falling apart and the jets weren't working. They tried to fix but couldn't so disappointing we had every intention of sitting in it while it was snowing, but couldn't. The Master tub shot black particles out of the jets which was unacceptable as well. The sliding doors to deck were difficult and we couldn't lock the screens to corral dog in. There were other small issues all due to lack of maintenance, which with all the documents you sign stating that you will be charged for any damage they find after your stay. It's rather unsettling to see all these issues so I felt compelled to notify them of everything I saw like the bi-fold door off the track sitting in the hallway. They offered to come, but I had a slight cold and the last thing I want on vacation is someone disturbing us plus these issues were long in the making and really should have been attended to long ago. We paid a premium price, which for condition of things in not appropriate. The host Claire not once responded to any question through the Vrbo app either which is not how other apps have been for us. Also the dishes were not too clean and you will need to re-wash them.

Good Retreat

The property was well laid out and very functional for our family. The location was excellent for us right near hiking paths and close to good mountain biking. While there is some wear and tear on parts of the home, the property management company was responsive.

A bit Dirty

The carpets need to be cleaned! There are several dirty stains on the upstairs floor near the Christmas tree (yep, a Christmas tree up in April). Travelers should bring their own pillows. I have never seen such flat pillows in my life. Also, bring TOWELS, otherwise, you are washing bath towels every day! Each person is allowed two (small) towels and there are no beach (or hot tub towels) you have to use your bath towel. So it was a lot of washing every day. Also, the hot tub needs to be cleaned!! It's green. And I developed "hot tub folliculitis" after being in it. Ew!

Cozy Clean Big Bear Getaway

Couldn’t get blinds to work right in guest bedrooms? Should bring heavy duty trash bags for end of stay when collecting trash to take to dump. Wifi didn’t work properly but they were trying to fix it during our stay with no luck. Pillows were flat but using two stacked helped. I received a call/text from owner after stay apologetic for WiFi which was nice. I hope they can get it fixed. Bright side the teenagers hung with us more due to the WiFi issue!!

Treetop Slope Views

This property was SO peaceful and equally beautiful! My family and I enjoyed our stay VERY much and would absolutely love to come back. The upstairs open floor plan is so bright and airy allowing for views from all areas with slope/lift views from the sofa. The kitchen/dining area is so wonderfully homey. The perfectly placed hot tub was magical for star gazing and a major plus- it's in short proximity to the sliding door. No freezing journeys to and from!The master king bed was VERY comfortable and my son said the same of his. Certain areas of the property weren't as clean as I expected upon arrival-it happens. The cooking surface had some food splatter and 1/2 bath had some bar soap scum on the sink. I have high expectations when it comes to cleanliness so I communicated this to the property management, Big Bear Lakefront Cabins, in a "hey you should be aware of this" way and they offered me a form of compensation, which to be honest, I wasn't even expecting! Some suggestions would be to ad hooks in the master bath for towels and such and to check functionality of things like lighting and blinds regularly to ensure they in working order. More towels to accommodate spa use would be great, as the house sleeps 8 and I believe there were as many towels in total. One thing I will mention that I think is a bit ridiculous is with check-out protocol from management. As guests we pay for cleaning and are also responsible for contributing to this upon check out in various ways, i.e. dishwashing or loading, bed turndown, towels in washer etc. Every place is different. In addition, as a pet friendly home, I believe they charge for pets daily. I get the "bring a bed" and "no pets on furniture" etc-I've stayed in many places. But, "Remove pet hair from floors and rugs"? Pretty petty. One would assume that vacuuming is part of standard cleaning practices. This large home is 75% carpet. Thankfully, I have a mini poodle.
