"Pond House" - på Stora Horse Farm; Perfekt för unga familjer

Semester på våra 600 tunnland häst och boskapsfarm och bo i vår Pond House, på stranden av en av de vackraste dammar du kan tänka dig. Barn och vuxna njuta av fiske, vandring i skog spår, titta på ständiga aktiviteter i naturen runt dammen, titta på hästar och boskap, och ridning med våra grannar på Oakland Heights. Newsflash: Vi har precis lagt en fantastisk rep swing nära Pond House, och det kommer att hålla stora vuxna!

The Pond House har två sovrum (en drottning, en våningssäng med dubbelsäng på botten), plus en håla med queen size utdragbar soffa. Det är professionellt inredda och helt charmiga.

Den bästa funktionen är dock den screenade tillbaka däck med utsikt över den vackra dammen.

Var noga med att besöka gårdens hemsida via länken vid foten på listan. Se även vår Milker stuga (vrbo # 766.635), Manor House (vrbo # 90.926) och tjänstemanna Cottage (vrbo # 442.721). Pros: Serene location, picturesque pond in backyard, great vibes and friendly staff. We were here for a wedding and had a wonderful time. Cons: Older farm dog off leash on property-roams around and bit our friend’s dog, causing him to bleed, Pond house cute but could be cleaner-quite dusty.

It was.nice till I got home.

Like I said 3 months later I have bed bugs. When I got home I informed the people I found a bed bug they said it couldn't be guesswhat I now have bed bugs and haven't been anywhere else before or after. And told her I found one when I returned home.

Relaxing get away.

Took our 2 dogs and had a wonderful relaxing few days. Husband caught some fish out of a couple of the ponds. Let the dogs play in the stream at the swimming hole. Relaxed on the porch and did a puzzle. Everyone was very nice and accomodating. There are employees at the farm but we had our privacy. Was a great get away....would highly recommend if you are looking to kick back and relax.

Place was amazingly peaceful, serene and very clean. Our lab jumped in pond 15 seconds after pulling up. He loved the freedom this farm offers. Hated to leave--in town-do eat at Barbeque Exchange--best food ever. Thanks Tina, Keith and entire staff.

Quiet, Relaxing Place to Stay

The scenery is so peaceful and relaxing. Who doesn’t want to wake up to horses playing in a field? Plenty to do with fishing at the pond, basketball hoop, game room and places to hike. Pond house was a great place to stay and we loved sitting on the porch. Check in and check out was very easy and the hostess was great communicating instructions. Don’t miss this one!!

Serene get-away

We loved our short stay at the farm and loved the cute little pond house even more! We had everything we needed and then some. There was a great 'welcome guide' that the owners had created with tons of information about the area and the property that we really appreciated. We could go exploring around the property itself, visit with the horses right outside our door (which our daughter particularly loved), take a quick trip to the mountains, or visit nearby attractions such as Monticello. At night it was wonderful to sit out on the screened in porch and listen to the frogs and crickets ,or hang out by the fire pit and make s'mores and look up at the sky and check for constellations- something we don't get to see much of at home in the city. It all made for a much needed, memorable, and enjoyable get-away. We hope to visit again soon!

Awesome farm life fun!

We had a wonderful stay at the pond house. The house was well stocked, was clean, bedding comfy, and was very cool to go to bed with the sound of crickets and wake up to watching the horses running wild. The staff was wonderful and we really enjoyed Mr. Sommers and all the barn animals and interactions. My kids had experiences of a lifetime… feeding a baby cow, holding puppies, interacting with horses, etc. They also loved roaming the land, playing in the game barn, riding the bikes, and enjoying the beauty of the farm. We fished, made s’mores, and watched the sunset everyday. We did several day trips- to Charlottesville and to hikes, and did horse back riding locally. Great times! Thank you!

Family Christmas

This is the second time I rented this property for the family Christmas. We meet on Christmas eve for a meal and present exchange. My spouse and I stay until the 26th or 27th with family visiting to enjoy the pond, trails and horses. Great location and facility. Already booked for 2023.

Holiday on a Horse Farm

This is our 2nd year spending Thanksgiving in Virginia at the Wolftrap Farm. It is so beautiful, peaceful and good for the soul. We love waking up to the horses and falling asleep under the starry skies. We always have a fantastic experience visiting family in Cville and winding down on the farm after festivities.

Perfect for small family gathering

We returned to Wolf Trap Farm after a previous stay at one of the other rentals onsite. We were looking for a place for a small family gathering. The space was comfortable for our group of 3 adults and 3 children, especially with the use of the outdoor spaces of the house and the property itself. We didn’t cook much while there, but found everything we needed if we had. We especially enjoyed the horses on the property.

Outstanding getaway, perfect for little kids!

We stayed at the Pond House and are already planning our return! It was impeccably clean and nicely decorated, AC worked great during heatwave and WiFi was sufficient for remote work. We loved the screened-in porch with ring game and the game barn was a hit. The creek and swimming hole were perfect on a hot day and the pond was plentifully stocked and a perfect spot for first time fishers. The trees behind pond house had more hummingbirds than I’ve ever seen in my life, it was amazing. Fire pit, hiking, THE HORSES!, all of it was just perfect. We brought our own basic fishing poles and bait was available at every local gas station. Our kids could safely run barefoot in the grass and get dirty and enjoy the outdoors without worry. For the record, we didn’t bring any electronics and I never once heard my kids say they were bored, truly magical!

Wonderful Family Vacation

From the moment my kids walked in the door to the moment we left my kids could not stop talking about how wonderful the Pond House was. It is so beautiful and there is so much to do - fishing, the game barn, seeing the horses, running around on the huge lawn, and so on. We would love to make this a regular part of our annual summer vacation to Virginia!

Stay at Pond House- Suggestions

Overall, the stay was pleasant. There are two suggestions to make it better. The key to the front door does not work and when we tried to enter the pond house at night 11:00 P.M., this was discovered. We called the management and they indicated that this was a problem and that we should try entry the key on the back door. That did work. I do suggest that either the guests be told this up front or that the key get changed. This problem is why I am giving the communication with the management category a 4 star rating rather than a 5 star rating. Second, the lower bed of the bunkbeds has a squeaky mattress. That bed should be changed.

Beautiful location

We celebrated our friends 40th birthday here and we spent most of the day on the screened in porch. At night the firepit was great. It has a beautiful view and lots of space. Will come back

My wife and I live in Virginia Beach, where we have been buying and rehabbing run down properties for many years. In 2003, I was looking for a small 'getaway' property close to the mountains. I overshot and ended up purchasing a rundown old horse farm (584 acres), with three houses and two big barns. After 18 months of rehab work, we opened the houses for guests. Since then, we have added or converted four additional vacation rentals, two wedding reception facilities and a number of other amenities on the farm.

The Charlottesville area is one of the most beautiful parts of America. The landscape is just wonderful. You enjoy all the amenities of civilization, but in an area that is rural and dotted with small towns and villages. There is a reason why Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Governor Barbour, James Monroe and many other historical figures chose to live in this area, and why a number of modern jet setters have hideaways in the area today.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

We love the back porch and pond. Its one of the most pleasant places on earth. The table and chairs out there get lots of use, both at mealtimes and whenever we wish to read or write. Our grandchildren love to stay at the Pond House because its so easy to step out the door and down to the edge of the pond, where they see lots of pond life (turtles, geese, fish and minnows, dragonflies, frogs, crayfish, red-winged blackbirds, hawks & eagles (yes we have golden eagles), etc.) and where they can depend on the fish to bite.
