Great for an easy vacation!

We had a wonderful trip. Location is perfect, close to town and beach. community pool was so fun and easy for the kids. Great communication with the owners. We hope to come back!

Great Family Vacation Home

This home was great for our mini-vacation! Three floors of accommodations provided room to spread out for the three generations on our trip. House was very clean, had everything we needed, and was in a great location! Owners were super easy to work with and responded quickly and even accommodated our special request. Thank you! Would definitely stay here again!

Weekend getaway with friends

We really enjoyed our stay and the house was excellent. It accommodated 9 adults nicely. The location is perfect because you can walk to restaurants if you want. We would rent here again.

Great for families

We had a great stay with our kids and their cousins. Great access to town and grocery store. Beach is a little further when you get all of the kid's beach gear together, but it's doable. Pool access was awesome to have and easy alternative to the beach. Would stay again!

Chill Bachelorette

We stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights, for a chill bachelorette weekend getaway. We had so much fun, and the house was the perfect size, we each had our own space plus great gathering rooms when we played games or just sat around and chatted. The porches were wonderful, and we loved the walkability to essentials and other parts of town. Great hosts, would definitely recommend!!

The house is lovely, nicely decorated. We loved sitting out on the porch. The beach is a short walk or drive. Walking to stores and restaurants is also very convenient. The neighborhood is quiet. We enjoyed our family time together.

Gecko Cottage was great!

The cottage was roomy and comfortable enough for all 10 of us. The lovely community pool was around the corner, the grocery store, ice cream, pizza and fun downtown shops were 2 blocks away and the beach was just aother 10 minute walk from there. We really enjoy New Buffalo - we've been coming to New Buffalo for our summer vacation for a number of years now and Gecko Cottage has been our best location so far!

Girls Golf Trip

Great location. Couldn’t find sheets..were in the dryer with damp towels. Accomodated 7 of us well. Think it would be quite tight for 12-14 as advertized. We did enjoy our stay, though and close to golf courses.

Gecko Cottage

We had a wonderful stay at Gecko Cottage. The house is beautiful and very clean. We loved the fact that we could walk to the shops , beach, and restaurants. It rained one morning and since the house has 3 levels everyone had a space to go to enjoy. The kids had a blast using the ping pong table. My favorite place was the front porch because the house sits in a very peaceful neighborhood. The hosts were very quick to answer any questions we had. We would definitely stay here again.

The perfect landing spot for a young family

We are so glad we found this property. The house was well appointed and very clean. Phil and Julie also have a fully outfitted kids room that was perfect for my older son - he played with toys and read books there every morning! The heated community pool was also a highlight for kids on cooler afternoons. Mom and Dad loved the walkability! Phil and Julie were great communicators - very responsive and kind when we had questions. We will definitely return!

Great cozy place, perfect location! Three gals on a long weekend. We each had our own room and bathroom. Kitchen nicely stocked. Easy walk to beach, shops, restaurants and grocery store. Do yourself a favor and have a meal at Brewster’s and sit on the patio. It was our favorite!

We enjoyed everything about our week-long vacation at the Gecko Cottage. Phil and Julie's home was comfortable, well-stocked and had more than enough room for our crew of 4 adults and 2 young kids. The location is superb. We easily walked or biked to the beach as well as the shops, restaurants, grocery store and library in the adorable downtown area of New Buffalo. It's also a great home base for exploring other towns and activities in SW Michigan. We were able to find a pick-your-own blueberry farm just a 10-minute drive away. The kids and adults alike loved taking advantage of the nearby pool as well. Phil and Julie were wonderful hosts and communicators. We would highly recommend a stay at the Gecko Cottage!

Welcome. We camped and vacationed in the New Buffalo area with our family for over 20 years. Finally we took the plunge and got a place of our own to enjoy with our kids, grandkids, and of course to share with you, our beloved guests.

Phil, water person, is happiest in and around water., May-October he enjoys long swims in the lake every day. He has taught sailing and sailed on Lakes Erie, Huron, Michigan, Superior and in the Mediterranean.

He's an avid biker. Pick out one of our bikes, old but trusty, and use it as the best way to get around town, get exercise and enjoy the lake air. If you love boats, stroll the huge marina, and partake of the excellent, but a bit pricey, marina resturants.

Julie loves long walks on the beach, bicycling and the fact that you can do everything without having to get into a car.
Always the teacher, she's all about books & community, and loves the library.

We're Michiganders from Ann Arbor and love helping you plan your trip, so ask away. We'll do what we can to make this a memorable stay.

A quiet place to relax, within a short walk to everything.

The enjoy we hanging out and our cottage friends and the opportunity to host great people!

There's a pool and shopping, dining and of course the wonderful library & beach within a short walk.

Coffee maker or French Press. Paninni Grill and Popcorn maker. It's ready for fun.

The kitchen is well equipped, roomy and spotless with an open plan everyone will enjoy.

Park the car (or come by train) and forget it 'til you leave. Barneys, a well stocked grocery, is only a block away. Comfort convenient by the big lake. What could be better?

Easy bike trip or drive through Harbor Country to Warren Dunes and the peacefulness of the Lake Michigan shoreline & towns. We've recently discovered a bike path which is completely on back roads. Ask us!
Stop for antiquing, coffee and sandwiches on the way. Maybe bike to wine tasting the next day.

We love it here because the water is warmer than further north and Its quick to get to. Having Amtrak to Ann Arbor or Chicago, or hourly South Shore Line Trains to Millenium Plaza in Chicago is a real bonus.

We've been vacationing in the New Buffalo area with our family for almost 20 year. Finally we have a place of our own here to enjoy and to share with our guests.
