Ta dig tid att njuta av en sval skog, fågelsång, grodor och 10 minuters promenad ner på en lugn väg till Ligar Bays gyllene sand.

Woody Mamaku Retreat är ett unikt och livligt boende inomhus och utomhus i utkanten av avskild kanuka-skog.
Kabinen är en ca. 1950 stålugnkontrollrum fodrad i vacker cypress från lokalt odlade träd med utsikt genom en park som inställning till viken och därefter. Detta bekväma rum med dubbelsäng är anslutet till ett litet soligt främre däck och en halvtäckt bakre veranda kök och badrum med separat komposttoalett 5 meter uppför stigen. Byggt i lokalt makrocarpa-virke har hytten en naturlig woody karaktär.
Det är utanför nätet, gas och solenergi med 4min eco duschar för att spara källvatten. Det finns mycket begränsad mobiltelefontäckning i kabinen men är bra på stranden.

                           10 - 15 minuter till Abel Tasman-banan och Wainui Falls.

Peacefull bliss

I loved the fact it was run on solar and gas..the bed was super comfy and the tranquillity of the place was exactly what i needed...having native bird life walking around on the deck was a treat...views of the ocean in the distance while laying on bed..teerrific...thanks team

The Perfect Place To Stay

Wonderful cabin, gorgeous views and relaxing surrounds

We loved staying at John and Pene’s cabin. It was well-equipped, perfectly situated and very private. We really appreciated the craftsmanship and attention to detail in the cabin and had a really serene, relaxing time listening to nature and taking in the wonderful views. It really is a gem of a place.John and Pene were conscientious and thoughtful hosts. We would have loved to have stayed longer and hope to return sometime. Ngā mihi nui.

Perfect and calm retreat

This place was lovely! The perfect option if you are looking for a calm place to have a relaxing time. We loved the outdoor kitchen and the outdoor shower. The view from just the bed was awesome!

Idyllic little retreat

We loved our stay here. The cabin is nestled in nature, surrounded by birdsong and has a lovely view of the sea. It's the perfect place to switch off and relax. The outdoor shower was a particular highlight. John and Pene were good hosts - it was nice to have the cabin refreshed halfway through our stay. Strongly recommended.

Lovely cabin stay

We loved our stay. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The attached undercover kitchen was clean and well-equipped, and the outdoor shower was a fun novelty. The cabin is bounded by native bush with abundant birdlife, and the surrounds are very peaceful. Only a 10 min walk to the beach. John was a helpful and responsive host. We look forward to returning.

Relaxing spot in the best location

The best spot to relax in, love Ligar Bay and Tata Beach just around the corner. Comfy bed and wonderful view. John and Pene were lovely. Would stay here again absolutely!

Lovely Retreat in Ligar Bay

I had a lovely experience here! This was the perfect way to experience the Golden Bay. The surrounding area is beautiful, and I loved coming back to the bach in the evening and listening to the birds and distant waves. The outdoor shower was nice too! Be aware that there isn’t any wifi, which truly makes this a getaway and a chance to stay more immersed in nature. Overall I would absolutely recommend this bach!

Awesome wee piece of paradise!

We were really just wanting a roof over our heads for our friends wedding in Tata Beach...but instead we found a real wee piece of paradise at John and Pene's place. It's a little bit of a shock to the system using a compost toilet (and showering on the deck), but the tranquil, private location meant we could really relax and unwind - surrounded by the fantails and Weka. The home-grown fruit and vege's were a nice touch too. Fully recommend this to anyone!

A Beautiful and Rustic Getaway

We had a wonderful time staying here. The location was excellent because of its proximity to Ligar Bay, Tara Beach, and Wainui Bay. The bed was very comfortable and the view was such a treat to wake up to each morning. The indoor/outdoor shower and kitchen made the experience feel connected to the stunning natural surroundings. And the hosts were fantastic communicators and very hospitable. Definitely would recommend staying.

Quirky cabin oasis

We loved our time here just wish we could've stayed longer, will definitely be back one day. We enjoyed swimming at the beach at Ligar Bay and Tata beach, Wainui Falls walk and a pub dinner in Pohara. Handy location and a very quirky wee cabin with everything we needed to enjoy a getaway.
