Reviewing the house, it definitely needs some love.

The property was pretty rundown. Could only use one bathroom shower because of the way it’s set up.A lot of doors were cracked and broken and stuckAnd there’s a lock box and door issue. Most all window blinds were broken.Asked for a few things that could be done and owner said yes they would take care of that and nothing was done!!Won’t rent again.It’s a shame, it could be a fabulous pace if they put some money in it

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly!

We stayed here for a lacrosse tournament and chose the house for its proximity to the venue and private pool. Despite some concerning reviews, the location was ideal. Overall, we had a nice stay—but not without issues.**The good:**The backyard is lovely: well-kept lawn, refreshing pool, large screened porch, and decent outdoor furniture. Some updates have been made—new linens, clean main floor carpet, and fresh-looking floors. Bathrooms and kitchen were clean, and the kitchen was adequately stocked. Location is excellent, right next to a bike trail with easy access to downtown and the beach. Garage was great for bike storage. AC and water pressure were strong.**The bad:**The property manager never responded to texts—until another manager informed us that septic pumping (next to the pool) would occur one afternoon. Living room furniture was badly stained and uncomfortable. The house lacked extra toilet paper and trash bags. Kitchen cabinets had leftover food from past guests. The master shower floods due to a low tray. Basement is dark and cluttered, with old carpet and random toys—needs a refresh. Main bathroom is outdated and doesn’t feel clean.**The ugly:**Comforters and throws had white, crusted stains. We spent the first day washing every blanket. Guest room sheets had sand, raising concerns about cleanliness. The house has great potential in a fantastic location but needs better cleaning, updates, and management

Pool!!!! Close to the beach and a State Park!

Great location! Two car garage kept cars from the hot sun. Enjoyed pool and well kept lawn. Watched Euro cup games on TV, Dish has tons of channels. Lots of space, big bedrooms and living room. The only downside was tiny shower in master bedroom with tiny sink. Had to use bigger bathroom for everything. There was not enough hooks to hang towels. Could use few chairs in bedrooms to sit or lay down clothes. Overall we enjoyed staying in this house.

Vacation

Get a new cleaning crew. Did not vacuum. Cobwebs in the dining room, kitchen and the screened in porch was the worst with dead bugs, clothing on the floor, peanuts on the floor, overall dirty. The garage needed a long overdue sweeping. There was a glob of hair in the tub drain. The sink in the master bedroom is so small you can barely wash your hands without water splashing on the floor. We spent most our day site seeing (love Lewes), and, in the pool, which was the cleanest part on the property.

No frills beach house

We enjoyed our stay at the house, it's a bit older with a few broken items, but very spacious with lots of amenities. We did not use the basement bedroom because it felt a bit dank, and there is no bathroom in the basement. It's probably fine for other folks. Our toddler LOVED the pool and running around the spacious house, though it was not very child proof so we were careful to watch her closely and had to block off the basement stairs with a gate. Good deal, and great location, would stay here again!

This house is as other poor reviews have stated. It is old, dingey, broken or barely functional in many places, poorly decorated (not just appearance-wise but functionality-wise), and really gives the feeling that you have wasted your money. The only redeeming things, frankly, are relative location, porch, and pool. Here are a list of broken or extremely dirty/old items: the filthy and matted carpet, "sconces" which are exposed bulbs and wires, plywood cupboard doors everywhere, plywood paneling, broken dressers in each room, broken lamps, only one extremely dirty sectional sofa (no way 10 ppl could stay here), old lettuce and an old French fry stuck to shelves at two tables (diff places), broken towel bars in each bathroom, Windows that are so dirty they have cobwebs growing on them and one which looks like someone tried to break in, weeds taller than bushes in the backyard, and actually much more.

Would not rent this home again. The listing description and pictures are very deceiving .

First let me say , we are a family that has rented many homes for vacations in various locations . Never have I left a bad review . Upon entering the home , quickly noted how dated , poorly kept this home was. It was musty smelling and you will find fly strips in various areas of the home . ( with flies already attached) The carpet appears to be so old it shows the traffic areas so badly that it’s brownish on color , along with various other areas of the carpet being stained and warm . The family room has one sectional as shown in the pictures but NO OTHER FURNITURE. There is plenty of space for extra sitting . Some of us were sitting on the floor , and we carried in from another room a small store beach that was in an adjoining room. That adjoining room ( labeled “ mud room “ ) had nothing in it except that bench . Just open wasted space . The dinning area has a high top table that one side where the leaf goes in won’t even push back together all the way . The kitchen is not well equipped . Any cooking utensils at best must came from dollar store . No pans for oven . No oven mitts , not one single kitchen towel . Found one kitchen wash cloth mixed with the bath wash cloths . ( which those may are not plentiful) One of the pans to cook with the handle got so hot my daughter actually got burned . The others were not like that . The stove top burners do not heat correctly . One burner we weren’t able to heat until u turned it up on high for a bit then turned it down . The drain in the kitchen gargles . Not sure if it was when the washer was being used or it just gargled . There is old food in the cabinets . Crackers, coffee , peanut butter , to list a few. We certainly aren’t eating after others especially with Covid . The beds each have one comforter on them . No blankets. The sheets are the cheapest you can find. Won’t even stay on the bed so you find yourself on the mattress cover which don’t get washed . The closets provide a few old hangers but that’s it . The master “ en-suite “ as they called it , the Boost the shower tucked in the corner ., there is a reason that isn’t shown to you . It’s the smallest shower you can buy. Which that’s fine but it’s still not useable . The shower head aims almost straight out not even hitting the floor or the shower . It can’t be adjusted . I’m their “ instruction book “ it states “ make sure both curtains are tucked inside that shower lip. IMPOSSIBLE !!! It’s the most ridiculous thing I ever saw . That bathroom has a tiny sink and they made no effort to put shelves , cabinets , to put even a toothbrush . The one towel rack is broke on the one end and just pushed into the wall I guess for looks . Again , extremely old!! The main bath is so so dated . Old wall paper that isn’t completely intact . The area around the tub and tile has that black moldy looking stuff. The basement is extremely musty . They do have a humidifier. That’s where the washer and dryer is located . But bring your own laundry baskets to transport your laundry up and down the steps . And bring laundry soup even though they say it’s provided it’s not. They left two generic pods . We saw 4 of those big centipedes down in the basement which one was in the downstairs bedroom . The “ game room “ has a couple of old games . Two of the same which are connect 4. The game table is so small . And not very sturdy. The only thing very nice about this place was the pool. Nice size and clean . However , there is only a few plastic Adorn-deck chairs available for sitting . Due to my physical limitations I can not use that type of chair . They sit low and back way to far . Screened in porch was nice . The house does sit on a very busy road. You will hear sirens often. There is a local diner we visited once across the street which we enjoyed. I think this home has great potential for vacationers but without many updates , more and better accommodations , I do not recommend this property unless your main purpose is the pool and you don’t care much about the accommodations . I Rate the home a two star but the pool a 4 star .

Nice little find in Lewes Area

Best feature of this house is the private inground pool. Great feature being so close to Lewes Bay and being able to return to our own swim. Clean, nice size and with a decent backyard and screened in patio. Location is awesome. Easy 2 mile run to the bay, couple blocks from the bike path, easy access to numerous restaurants and shops.

Dirty old house

If you are looking for a bright beachy vibe vacation house this is not it. As soon as you walk in there is a very strong musty old house smell. The basement is extremely damp. There are water bags in all the closets along with a dehumidifier that has to stay in an open doorway. It does not look as though the house has ever been dusted and the cleaning crew does the bare minimum when cleaning after each group of renters. There were chunks of black dust hanging from each ceiling fan, cob webs in between the globes on the bathroom lights, cobwebs inside the lamp shades, urine stains running down the walls around the toilets, toothpaste spit on the wall behind the sink. The fireplace had not been used in a while as it is seasonal but there were black hand prints on the wall around it as well as trash inside of it. The cabinets are full of food left over from other renters. There is fly problem as there are fly strips hanging in multiple places of the house. It is gross and off putting. While doing laundry the kitchen sink backs up with foul smelling water and all the drains gurgle. The main bathroom is original to the house and needs to be completely gutted. There is a dark black moldy mildew ring around the tub where the wall meets it. The wall paper is peeling off of the walls. It is hard to feel clean after getting out that tub. The newer bathroom shower is completely unusable as there is no room to move around and clean yourself. We found trash behind the sofa, under the sofa, behind the dressers... I have to say spending as much time as I did trying to clean the house was not something I planned for my vacation. We left the house cleaner than it was when we arrived. Having to make due with the house really ruined the vibe of what we planned on being a easy and relaxing. The only reason there are two stars is one for the pool as it is nice. A little rough but probably the cleanest thing about the house. The other star is for the location. Although it would have been nice if the listing mentioned the house sits on a main street.

2nd time staying

We rented this property last July and again this July. The owner needs really needs to invest some money into this property. Last year no issues with plumbing. This year, it sounded like the drains in the sink were going to explode and that was without running the washer or dishwasher. When it was gurgling, hair was coming up through the drains. The musty smell is still prevalent. Others that have rented have stained the furniture. The trash situation is not good. The people who stayed the week before never rolled the cans to the curb for pickup. Needless to say, we had to wait until the end of our trip to put bags in the cans. The main shower tub needs be caulked or just ripped out and replaced. The outdoor shower has a wasp nest in it. When we arrived at 20 minutes past check-in the cleaning crew was still inside. Not 100% confident they cleaned sheets and comforters. I had to text the property manager as they failed to clean the prior renters mess from the outdoor porch in the back. Cleaners came with an attitude. The pool was fabulous and the pool cleaning crew actually showed up when supposed to this time. Owner - you should refinish the bottom of the pool. All of the bottoms of our feet are scraped up. The outdoor concrete around the pool is cracked and hard to walk on. Did we enjoy our stay? Yes, because we always make the most of our trips. We were disappointed to see that the owners have not made the necessary improvements. You can certainly tell they just want the money and do as little as possible to make the home rentable. This house is close to downtown Lewes and Cape Henlopen. Having a private pool is high on our list so we will rent again - just hoping to see improvements next year since people are paying over $2,500 for a week!

Spring break

This trip with spring break with the grandchildren, given us opportunity for the Maryland and Delaware family to get together. The grandchildren enjoy the game room. I enjoyed the big couch which made us all comfortable to watch movies together. The house is convenient for shopping and entertainment. Next time we will come when the pool is open.

encellent vacation home

We will rent this property again. Check- in easy. Property manager very helpful. We found three things upon arrival a broken window in living room but the manager was aware of it already and she emptied a bucket full of water near washing machine and she was made aware of a leak in the closet of basement bedroom. The pool was excellent! One suggestion to the owners you could put a small bathroom in the basement for that bedroom my family had to go upstairs through the kitchen, down the hallway to use a bathroom. Otherwise the home was beautiful. Thanks The Taylor Family.

Comfy home, could use some

Overall we really enjoyed ourselves at this home. It was very comfortable and the screened in porch was a plus. The fact that it had a private pool was at the top of my list when booking since we are in the midst of COVID. The property manger allowed us to check in a couple hours early which was awesome! Just a few things for the owner that need to be addressed: the pool was dirty and cloudy upon arrival. I reached out several times to the property manager who advised the pool guy would be there Tuesday. The pool guy was a no-show Tuesday and again on Wednesday. She did apparently get the owner involved. When the pool guy finally arrived on Thursday he also had to call out the electrician because the fuse on the pump stopped working. Also, there is a rubber hose in the basement that leaks water. When we arrived someone before us had knocked it out of a small bucket and the basement floor where the washer is located was soaked. We moved the rubber hose to a larger bucket and everyday my husband had to carry it outside to empty. The basement smells like mildew but they do have a humidifier which does a good job masking the smell. We also had to empty the humidifier daily which was not listed on any instructions. The main bathroom needs to be updated. There were no paper towels or trash bags supplied as supposed to be per the listing. The main living areas were spacious and we felt like we were at home! The house is on a busy street and you will hear the fire trucks and ambulances throughout the day but no nosy neighbors!! Our final morning which was today, we were greeted by a mouse in the kitchen. We will book again as the positives absolutely outweighed any minor issues.

Decent house, terrible communication with owners

We booked this house in February, and decided to keep our reservation and social distance while making use of the pool. I emailed the guest contact the week before we left to verify the pool would be ready because the pictures only show the pool covered and I got nervous. No response. We arrived at 3:30pm on check-in day — the pool was murky and full of leaves and bugs. I called the guest contact and she called me back a few hours later to say the pool just needed a filter, and the guy would be there "first thing" to fix it. Totally fine. He didn't show up until 11am and was in the backyard for several hours. When he left, the pool was still broken. Called guest contact. He'll be back in the morning, I don't know what's wrong, he said it would be ready. Wednesday, he's back by 11am or so with an assistant and in the backyard for hours. He leaves, the pool is still murky and the filter isn't running, but they did clean out some of the leaves and bugs. I call the contact again and say that the pool isn't fixed yet, is there an update because we're running out of vacation days. Thursday at about 1pm we finally had a working pool, though it was still very cloudy — I couldn't see my hands in the water. We got one half-day of use out of the pool, which was super disappointing given that we were trying to keep to ourselves as much as possible, and specifically interested in using the pool. Also, kind of weird to use the yard when there are people working in it. The guest contact was nice, but ultimately, kept giving us incorrect information. She also said that the two previous renters also didn't have access to the pool "but they were okay with it." It's particularly annoying because I emailed in advance and they should have been transparent. My kids were so disappointed. Also, the pool might need to be refinished — my daughter's toes and fingertips were scraped raw after playing in the pool for the afternoon. We contacted Evolve the first day with our concerns and never heard back. I found out later that the guest contact had told Evolve the issues were "resolved" so they closed the case. I had to call them to reopen it, and we only received a refund that amounts to only about 9% of the total amount paid. I'm sure the pool will be fine for future renters, just our bad luck. But, boy, what a bummer and the refund is an insult.
