Summary:
Introducing Mawhiti, a luxurious new residence on Waiheke Island with a magnificent waterfront setting.
Mawhiti translates to âescapeâ; the very essence of what this home was designed to invoke: peace, tranquillity, and serenity.
The Space:
Designed by award-winning firm Stevens Lawson Architects, the home features a series of living pavilions with soaring vaulted ceilings. The design was an intentional complement to the âGateway Pavilionâ - an architectural masterpiece commissioned for the 2017 Sculpture on the Gulf event which the owners acquired for the property in 2017. The Gateway was originally designed as the New Zealand submission for the Venice Architectural Biennale in 2012.
The residence features a large living pavilion with an open fireplace, a chefâs kitchen and extended scullery with the latest appliances. The architects have cleverly designed multiple living and entertaining spaces to relax inside and out, with a large entertainment deck featuring a state of the art barbeque.
Four large, equal-sized bedrooms all have direct outdoor access with infinity sea views. All bedrooms feature superking beds, all with luxurious ensuite bathrooms with private courtyards.
New Zealand art features prominently in the house, including sculptures by award-winning Waiheke artist Anton Forde.
Mawhiti is a beautiful combination of art, architecture and luxury with unparalleled views of the Hauraki Gulf and its uninhabited islands. Waihekeâs fantastic beaches, vineyards and restaurants are all on offer and only moments away, but you may never want to leave this ultimate escape.
