The Bourne stuga ger en perfekt semester plats för familjer och vänner som vill fly det liv och rörelse i det moderna livet. Den har tre olika vingar med åtta sovrum.

Byggt 1783, är Bourne Stuga på elva hektar på indiska Neck i spetsen för Buzzard s Bay. Den indiska Neck Området är mycket privata --few hus på mycket mark.

Fastigheten är vattnet till Bourne Cove, en saltvatten vik med ostron, musslor och fisk. Det finns en privat brygga där för simning och lansera icke-motoriserade båtar. En lugn tio minuters promenad längs en smal landsväg tar en till stranden på Buzzard s Bay. Hyresgästerna har tillgång till den privata stranden där.

Vindsurfing, paddling, segling, simning, kajakpaddling och tennis är populära sätt att spendera dagarna. Både stränder lutning försiktigt i vattnet och är idealiska för spädbarn och gamla människor lika. Vattnet i vråkar Bay är behagligt varmt för bad och det finns ingen farlig surfa eller Undertow.

Observera: huset har fyra badrum. Ett av badrummen har en dusch. De andra tre har de ursprungliga klo fot badkar med dusch slang bilagor. Det finns också en stor utomhusdusch med varmvatten.

Bourne Pointe

We enjoyed a lovely peaceful stay at Bourne cottage with family and friends. The house can certainly accommodate a crowd and the expansive lawn and views over the marsh and fields offer up peaceful evenings with breezes rolling off the bay. We enjoyed the cove and bay beach for fishing and rock/seashell collecting but for nice sandy swimming beaches we went elsewhere. A few things we noted about the listing were that the property may be on 11 acres but you do not have access to the 11 acres as most of it is marsh. There is a second house on the property that may have owners/guests during your stay and there is no direct water access from the house which you might think based on some pictures and the use of “waterfront.” Access to the cove and private beach are both about ½ mile away/15 minute walk. Regardless, we did truly enjoy our stay, just think there could be some refined description to the listing. The house truly offers and old age cabin feel and was great for bonding and reconnecting with family and friends, reading and lawn games!

Bourne Cove

A few things we noted about the VRBO listing were that the property may be on 11 acres but you do not have access to the 11 acres as most of it is overgrown marsh. There is a second house on the property that may have owners/guests during your stay and there is no direct water access from the house which you might think based on some pictures and the use of “waterfront.” Access to the cove and private beach are both about a 15 minute walk. Regardless, we did truly enjoy our stay, just think there could be some refined description to the listing. The house truly offers an old world feel and was great for bonding and reconnecting with family and friends, reading and lawn games!

An Extraordinary Home

An extraordinary home in a lovely setting. True, no TV or AC, but no one missed them for a moment, spending time instead playing on the vast lawn, sitting together in any of the three separate “living room” areas or on the perfect screened porch. Loved the antiques and art on the wall and the very well-equipped kitchen. There are many bedrooms from which to choose and would recommend the lower levels for anyone with children or stair considerations. And, yes, there are antiques and basket weave chairs we were asked to respect, but we had a 4 year old, who had no problem doing so and loved exploring all the many rooms and hearing about the secret passage or hideaways where slaves may have been hidden. Our group consisted of 3 over the age of 67, 3 adults, 1 child, 1 baby, and 1 well-trained dog. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a naturally beautiful, quiet and restful time on the Cape.

Delicate furniture and high expectations of guests

We enjoyed our stay at Bourne Cottage -- the unique old house, expansive grounds, and tennis courts were a nice setting for a reunion of family and friends. The pervasive bugs challenged our patience during our week-long stay. But my main reason for writing this review -- a rare less-than-positive review from me -- is that we were fined for a number of things after our stay that put a damper on our vacation. The owners have many valued antiques in the house and provide written instructions on how to use them. We are conscientious renters who worked to follow the house rules but were deemed to have missed the mark and paid quite a bit for it. My advice for future guests would be to take pictures upon arrival of all furniture and dishes (including inside the kitchen cabinets) to document their condition and be sure you put everything back in the correct place. And I wouldn't use the delicate dining room table at all. The Bourne Cottage could be nice for adults who move at a slow pace. But for a large group with kids, it is not a location that I would pick again for a stress-free vacation.

Low key getaway

This place was the perfect low key family vacation spot. We had five adults and two kids, 4 and 7, and everyone agreed that it was a great space to be together but not on top of each other. We took loved being forced to disconnect - no screens, no phones, no schedules, no AC. We walked to nearby beaches and didn't have to worry about the kids getting in traffic. Kids rode bikes on the tennis court. We had quiet time reading in the hammock, on the screened porch, against some of the big beautiful trees. We took long walks along the quiet country roads, met neighbors, and cheered for them in their weekly sailboat race on Saturday morning. Everyone loved the outdoor shower, including the kids (eliminating the daily fight to try to get them clean). Grownups had cocktails on a picnic blanket each evening while the kids ran free in the yard. We watched sunsets and chased fireflies. We all went to bed early and got up with the birds. I don't remember the last time I came back from a vacation so refreshed and still liking my family.

Great for family time!

We loved our stay at Bourne Cottage!! Our family have been coming to the area for years and always stay in a hotel, never again! The house is charming, the property is beautiful, the tennis courts are so fun. The family time we were able to spend in here was the best!

Great getaway!

The house had many rooms, stairs, and hallways. You could feel the history throughout the house. Just open a bunch of windows and cool breezes flow through the house. We slept very well in this secluded getaway! The description was accurate and had everything we needed. The cove was a good place to swim and gather shells. It was nice to not have TV's or electronics so we could spend time as a family talking and laughing. We will be back soon to stay at this place and explore the surrounding areas some more.

A hidden gem of a spot!

Our family enjoyed a delightful two weeks at Bourne Cottage in August at this fascinating, rambling house. Dating back to the 1700's, it has historic charm yet has been updated to meet the needs of today. A quiet, tranquil setting with a gorgeous view made for total relaxation! We thoroughly enjoyed walking the winding paths to 'Club Mud' and launching the canoe and our own kayaks from the dock, though we only actually experienced the 'mud' part at one low tide - and only if you let your feet touch bottom. Swimming in Bourne Cove is divine, whether from the dock or down at Cove Beach at the point. Water was pristine, thanks to the oyster farm activity in the cove. The oysters cleanse the water as they grow, and they are also delicious. We were thrilled to have bikes available for our rides down to Cove Beach or to Bay Beach on Indian Neck. Every beach was great for swimming, walking and exploring. We even took advantage of the tennis court on the property. Our grandchildren loved exploring Bourne Cottage, especially the secret passage way, which they managed to navigate in its entirety. The many rooms are comfortable, as are the beds. The outdoor shower is a bonus. Owner Louisa was extremely helpful in showing us around the property and suggesting nearby markets and attractions. We would loved to have stayed longer. It was paradise.

LAZY DAYS, BEAUTIFUL BREEZES, IDYLLIC SETTING

I just returned from a family vacation at this beautiful property. The home is charming and comfortable and is exactly as described in the listing (including photos). The property was clean and well-maintained. Every room in the house affords a lovely gentle breeze and encourages relaxation. We are a large family and everyone slept comfortably in a bed (most times when we vacation at rental home, one or two people are relegated to a sleeper sofa or daybed.) The beach is indeed private and often times, I found myself to be alone on this lovely beach. There are a few rocks, so do bring water shoes. The swimming at the dock was wonderful (especially at high tide) and again, the area is very private. The owner was extremely gracious and was very helpful in providing excellent customer service. I would definitely recommend this property for a very relaxing summer vacation!

Lovely Serene Private Home in Wareham Mass

From the moment you arrive you are enveloped in breath-taking beauty! Bourne Cottage is extremely private and peaceful, with honeysuckle and stately Linden trees that whisper in the breeze. The path through the woods along the cove to the private dock is magical, with sun dappling through the trees and the smell of sun-baked pine needles. We also loved riding bikes or strolling down the quiet lane to the private bay beach, a lovely sandy stretch of ocean front, where large sandbars appear at low tide. The bird life is abundant – we saw majestic osprey swoop and glide over the water. During the days we leisurely enjoyed reading books laying in the hammock under the Linden trees while the kids explored the paths and ran around on the spacious lawn or played tennis on the court that is right there. The cottage itself is beautifully maintained and clean and there is ample space for a large family to spread out. My kids loved to play hide and seek in the nooks and crannies of the house. The kitchen is large and fully appointed – and we couldn't have been happier there gathering around the hearth and cooking dinner for my family and evening guests. One evening we gathered mussels in the cove and followed the recipe provided by the owner for an incredible meal. The bedrooms were comfortable and quiet, and there was always a light cooling ocean breeze. We will be sure to be back next year! I am very thankful for this wonderful opportunity to vacation in this lovely, pristine spot. See you next year!

There's no place on earth like Bourne Cottage!

Every year on the first day of spring, my kids ask: "How many more weeks until we go to Bourne Cottage?!" They are chomping at the bit to go back to Wareham, our summer haven for two weeks EVERY summer for the last twelve years. We love the beauty of Indian Neck (the house has views of a private saltwater cove), the sweet breezes across your face as you nap in the hammock, the winding path down to the dock, the expansive lawn that is perfect for games of "Red Light, Green Light," and the understated elegance of this one-of-a-kind house. The house has several wings that work perfectly to accommodate our large family. (Each branch of the family gets its own bathroom: the key to vacation harmony!) The owners are very responsive and recently did a major renovation to the kitchen which looks gorgeous. We can't wait to be back!

Gorgeous, private and peaceful

My mom rented this antique cottage for the entire family because it was close to her brother's house in onset. It is truly beautiful and you really feel like you are stepping back in time as soon as you pull up to the house. The house dates back a few hundred years so it is full of history. It was fun trying to figure out how to get from point A to point B!! Looks are very deceiving. This house looks small from the pictures, but it actually has several staircases and "wings" of bedrooms. There is a wonderful, large screened in porch, a nice sunporch, the parlor and a dining room that fits the whole crew! The kitchen is nice and big with everything you need. There is even a separate laundry room and storage porch for all of your outdoor gear. The house is impeccably maintained with comfortable beds and plenty of bathrooms. The outdoor shower is wonderful!! The property is simply beautiful. A rolling lawn leads to the water. It is very quiet and there are thousands of birds chirping away...especially first thing in the morning. The house is at the beginning of two points with a cove in between so there are nice walking routes. "Club Mud" is a short walk from the house, It is a charming little clearing on the cove with adirondack chairs, a hammock and boat dock. We loved setting up our beach chairs on the dock and floating with the tide. All in all, it was a house big enough for our crew but with lots of options (I didn't even get to the tennis court!!) for fun and relaxation. A perfect family reunion house!!

Great place for a large family!

We chose this place to celebrate my inlaws 40th anniversary. We needed room for four couples, two toddlers and two teenagers. The Bourne Cottage was affordable and more than accommodated our crowd! We loved being able to eat at the large table for our meals. The house was very clean and well equipped and Louisa went above and beyond at every step of the way to make us feel welcome and to answer questions or provide suggestions. The only issue we had was that there is in fact only one indoor shower, not 4 as the description says. But we made good use of the outdoor shower since the weather was fantastic. Had there been bad weather, we might have experienced a bit of a log jam for the shower! We found the beach/dock not terribly conducive to small children, and opted to drive the 5 miles to Onset - gorgeous beaches, shallow, clean water, ice cream shops and pizza joints - something to please everyone! We loved the charm of the house and the expansive grounds - no one ever worried if the kids wandered out into the yard to play. We would absolutely return!
