Charming Seine-view apartment
I have a mixed review. On the one hand, the apartment is top notch. Modern and deluxe, while retaining an old world charm. It directly overlooks the Seine, with all the life that parades by, and the passing tour boats, and fresh air wafting in, and cheerful people dancing nightly across the other bank, and easy access to everything. On the other hand, I do feel that, with regard to our booking, the management engaged in a questionable business practice. We stayed there during the Olympic games, which, of course, is a one-of-a-kind time to rent. Because this was such a swank place, we booked it, and paid in full, over 14 months in advance. Every few months I messaged the host, to confirm that our booking was solidâŠbut received no reply. Then, just a couple months prior to the games, I received a message from the property manager that the host was increasing the price of our stay by US $10,000. At that point, we did have the option to cancel. But, not really. The host knew that by waiting until the last minute to upcharge, it would be too late for us to cancel and then scramble to rebook another place remotely as nice. We felt we had no choice but to accept this act of price gouging. Did it ruin our trip? Not at all. We bit the bullet, paid up, and got the see the Olympic games! In Paris! The last minute price increase very much felt like extortion, but it was the trip of a lifetime, so I leave it to you to decide if booking this property is worth it in your case.
