Casa Prieta in Pacific Heights is a 5-bedroom, 4.5-bath marvel with stunning ocean views in a mountainside neighborhood above Playa Potrero. The golden sunset, mountain sunrise, mature gardens and outstanding views make this a place of exceptional beauty.

The Space:
Of the five bedrooms, three have king beds and two have a pair of twin beds that can be converted to kings. Four of them have en-suite baths with double sinks and other modern finishes. The master bedroom is a beautiful suite with floor-to-ceiling glass facing the ocean and a private ocean-view shower.

The large kitchen has a Corian island, sleek appliances, a cooktop range and a breakfast bar. A fridge-freezer with filtered water and ice dispenser is located in a separate alcove with the food pantry. The dining table, with a slate look and powder-coated aluminum design, seats six.

All rooms have spectacular ocean views. Step outside and there are tiled terraces with large cantilevered teak decks and contemporary outdoor furniture. Upper balconies have tiled floors, sun loungers and high-top table and chairs.

The private infinity pool, within view of the ocean, has an eight-person lounge set, table and chairs, a cantilevered sun shade and an outdoor shower.

The home comes with a washer, dryer, water softener and purification system, all located in a separate utility room. Maid service is offered twice a week, plus gardening and pool service three times a week.

This home is not ideally suited to children under the age of 3 without supervision. To get here, a 4-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended in the rainy season.

Pacific Heights is an exclusive neighborhood in the hills above Potrero, a town that we consider one of Costa Rica’s best places to visit. Located between Las Catalinas and Flamingo, Potrero (“pasture”) is an authentically Tico town that is also home to a great many expats.

On Potrero’s southern outskirts, Surfside is a delightful town with a main street two blocks long packed with restaurants, bars, shops, souvenirs, tour agencies and even a sailing center.

Drive a few minutes south to visit Flamingo and its brand-new, world-class marina, bristling with yachts and shops. Spend a day deep-sea fishing, scuba diving or doing a sunset cruise on a catamaran with snorkeling.

The Neighborhood:
Pacific Heights is a mountainside community in the hills above Playa Potrero with stunning ocean views. Look out on palm trees, lush gardens and the beautiful seascape, surrounded almost completely by frog-green hillsides. Mountain breezes make this hillside perch much cooler than the beach, and wild animals are frequently spotted here.

Drive down the road and you’re in Potrero, with easy access to three beaches (Potrero, Penca and Prieta), and many other beaches to the north and south. The Mediterranean-style village of Las Catalinas is nearby, as is the brand-new Marina Flamingo.

Flamingo is a high-end beachfront community notable for its dazzling ocean views and the beautiful, hilly peninsula that juts out into the Pacific, separating Playa Potrero from Playa Flamingo.
Flamingo is home to a wide array of stunning homes and vacation rentals, as well as humbler lodging options, and it has restaurants, grocery stores, banks and other conveniences.
A brand-new, state-of-the-art marina opened to the public in 2022, with slips for yachts and fishing boats, condos for rent and all kinds of shops and restaurants. Other major developments here include the 360 Splendor del Pacifico luxury condominiums on top of the North Ridge, the Margaritaville Beach Resort, and the upscale Mar Vista housing development, where there’s an excellent private school called La Paz.
Good restaurants in town include the Coco Loco, a beachfront eatery known for its coconut drinks and standout cuisine; Marie’s, a reliable standard with a long and enticing menu; Angelina’s, featuring fine Italian dining in an elegant environment; and several options at the Margaritaville, including the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill.
Flamingo was largely developed by foreigners, and it lacks the traditional Costa Rican downtown with a soccer field plaza, church and school. The heart of town is an upscale commercial plaza with stone steps, fountains, restaurants and shops. Farther away on the road to Brasilito, you’ll find smaller restaurants, hotels, banks, hardware stores and the Super Massai grocery store.
Flamingo is more or less the centerpiece of a beautiful coastline stretching from the Reserva Conchal resort in the south to the Las Catalinas resort in the north, with the more traditional Costa Rican towns of Brasilito and Potrero in between. Flamingo is within easy striking distance of several beaches, including Conchal, Flamingo, Potrero, Penca, Prieta, Pan de Azucar and Danta.

Getting Around:
Our agents will be happy to assist you with renting a car, giving you the freedom to explore the area where you want, when you want. For short drives to nearby towns or beaches, golf carts are another popular mode of transportation. You can also rent a bicycle to ride around in town or beyond.

We can arrange transfers to and from the airport. Rental cars can also be delivered to your property at no additional cost, allowing you to relax and enjoy the scenery as our private van drives you here from the airport.

Taxis are available but can be a bit hard to find. Many locals use buses to get around, though there are a limited number of routes and times of day when you can catch them. Private shuttles can be a great option for traveling to nearby destinations, and many tour companies offer transportation to and from the tour.
