Yin & Yang in SOBE
The suite and location is absolutely fabulous if you consider a couple of thing in regards to what South Beach is all about.
First, SoBe is not Northern Europe. The standard is much lower when it comes to standard of living, service levels etc. High standards is very pricy here.
Ocean Drive is loud. And that means that loud music is present from cars cruising on the street and in restaurants and bars from 11am to 1am. In weekends even worse.
Keeping this in mind the place is like a dream. We stayed in a large suite with two balconies overlooking the ocean. You could be a part of the life in Ocean Drive from your balconies or by stepping out from your hotel directly into the fun craziness.
The suite is equipped with a nice kitchen where you can make your own breakfast (or even dinner) if you like. The bathroom is very large and comfortable. The bedroom and bed is perfect. Its a king size bed. The living room/kitchen is the best. The balcony and large windows creates a light openness and connects you directly to the beach and the ocean.
The pool is in the same building and if you use the stairs you don't have to wait for the slow elevator. The pool area is nice, with stunning views. The pool itself is small and shallow but is perfect for its purpose.
The staff is very helpful and friendly. The place feels safe with CCTV and guards.
Housekeeping is a joke (the people are very nice though). For 10 days no one vacuumed our carpets or changed sheets. I believe included were only daily changing of towels and pick up of garbage. However, it goes without saying that vacuuming and new sheets should be taken care of. But hey, it's Miami.
The owners are quick in response and very clear in their communications. I would say it was no bad surprises other than the housekeeping's service level. The place is better than described I would say.
All in all the stay was wonderful and the place is absolutely fantastic considering what you are paying per night. Having lived in Miami for some years and visit SoBe many times this is a perfect place to spend your vacation. But, if you like quietness and high standards you should pick one of the beach hotels at 20th street and north. I would not be surprised if you then have to quadruple the cost for a suite in the same size with ocean view and two balconies.
We would love to come back soon again.
