Hi we are Erica and John, the owners of Sandpiper Cottage at Laguna Beach. We are 2 college biology professors and parents of 5 children. In addition to having 3 biological children, we have grown our family through foster care. We love spending time together at the beach, hiking, swimming, biking, and anything else that puts us out in nature.

We were searching for a house big enough for our family that we could stay in a few times per year (during our breaks from teaching). Once per year visits to the beach was just not enough! We fell in love with Laguna Beach because the neighborhood feels so quiet and private and yet it is just minutes from anything you could ever want to do. There aren't any high-rise condos or hotels in this area, so the beach is much less crowded than other areas in Panama City Beach. Much of the beachfront in Laguna Beach is undeveloped and zoned to stay that way to protect the beautiful natural dunes. Being biology professors conservation is important to us and having an area where we can see natural coastal species of birds and plants just steps from our door has been amazing. We love Pier Park for shopping, dining, and entertainment. Heading west on 30A is a whole world of experiences waiting for us. We can enjoy the French architecture in Rosemary Beach with dinner at La Cocina or Pizza by the Sea and then walk down by the Pearl Hotel to see the breathtaking views. Or we can take in the beauty of Alys Beach architecture modeled after that found in the Bahamas on our way to Seaside. Seaside is fun, laid back kind of beach town. It is an amazing place to rent a bike and explore. The beach access is open to the public and there are limitless dining opportunities awaiting us from the Taco Bar, to Barefoot BBQ, or the "best burger on 30A" at Pickles. Being gluten free and vegan Raw and Juicy and Taco Bar are my favorites! We can head to Topsail for hiking and more natural dunes and public beach access or to Saint Andrew's for the protected jetty. From St. Andrew's we can take a ferry to Shell Island, which is a 7-mile long island of protected natural beach for shelling, snorkeling, and just plain relaxing. For us, we are always counting down the days until our next trip because there is so much we cannot wait to do.

This location is so unique in how private the house feels, the quiet, but friendly neighbors, and the proximity to so much entertainment to meet every type of personality and interest.
