  • Cozy, comfortable and quiet.

"The Red Roof Cottage had everything we needed for a lovely stay, and we really appreciated the warm welcome from Lu, John and their dog Ruby, plus enjoyed the fresh homemade bread and fresh eggs from their chickens (the girls)."

  • Ocean front yurt

"This is a fantastic property in a wonderful location. The view of the ocean is one you could never grow tired of and is within steps of the yurt. We stayed for one week with two kids (aged 13 and 12 years) and our dog and enjoyed it immensely. The yurt is very well appointed with nearly everything you could ask for, the only thing we missed was a washing machine. If you are bringing your dog everything is supplied (bowls, bed, chews and bags) which was a really nice touch. There is a small campsite adjacent to the yurt which is not obvious from the photos, which held around 3-4 trailers which caused no issues for us, it was quiet and friendly. A pointer for those for those who might miss it is that there is no tv, this caused no problem for us as we spent the evenings around the fire pit watching the ocean. The beach by the yurt is a difficult walking beach due to the large pebbles which is not ideal for small children or those unsteady on their feet, however a short walk through the farm to the beach adjacent to Alders Resort brings you to a beach with plenty of sand which is ideal for kids to play on and paddle which we took advantage of every day. If you have very young children you should be aware that the stairs to the loft bedroom (which is galleried) are quite steep and only suitable for older kids or adults. The kitchen was very well equipped, a bbq is supplied with two bottles of propane which was used frequently, you can't beat bbqing with an ocean view. The towns of Courtenay, Comox, Cumberland and Campbell River are all a short drive away and very pleasant. We hired paddle boards in Cumberland for use on the lake and fishing with the kids on Campbell River pier was a great experience. All in all we had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend this property."

  • Lovely views and good beds

"The month we stayed at the waterfront was interesting given the inclement weather. We saw quite the storms from the windows facing the estuary. The apartment is pleasant and clean and there is a lovely closed in deck of a good size as well. The only negative was the constant traffic noise from the busy street the apartment is on. I would recommend this property for people if they are not after total quiet."

  • Very enjoyable.

"My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Doug and Troy's cottage. Very comfortable bed...............we both slept better than we have for years. Wish we knew the name and style of the mattress as we would really like to buy it! The weather was wonderful and we really enjoyed not having a phone or TV as we were able to enjoy the quiet and read without interruptions. The only thing we would have liked to change would be the cooking facilities, either an oven or a microwave would have been wonderful. Pamela and Dennis McCloskey."
