  • Wonderful Stay for Two Kiteboarding Families

"My husband and I, our baby, and another family, with their 2 babies, recently stayed at the Ryder retreat in April 2016. This villa is very spacious - despite three crying babies, we could escape to the upstairs or downstairs for privacy and quiet. This villa is very well kept, clean, and modern. The caretaker Shawn was extremely friendly and helpful. One day we lost our car keys and he came to drive us to the rental car company to get another set. The fact that linens, bath towels and beach towels are all provided was very convenient. The villa had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay: the kitchen is fully equipped (pots, pans, coffee maker, blender - the only thing missing is a kettle!), there is ensuite laundry, several bathrooms for multiple guests, and the pool was lovely with recliners all around. We are fitness fanatics so the gym was an incredible bonus!! It is also fully equipped with several weight machines, free weights, etc. The only thing lacking is cardio equipment as the bike wasn't working, but that's not a big deal as we could go for an early morning run! We went to Turks for the kiteboarding on Long Bay Beach so we spent many days there. We were hoping that the villa would be a little bit closer (that would be the only fault I can find with this place) as it was a good 12 minute drive, whereas it would have been nice to have something walking distance. But the views from the villa are beautiful as it sits on top of a hill so we enjoyed watching the sunrises. Despite the heat, we managed to keep cool just by opening the doors and windows to let the breeze through. We only used the air conditioning in the bedrooms at nighttime and turned it off during the day when we went out. Lorri and Brian, the owners, were very responsive and accommodating. They allowed us to extend our stay at the last minute (when we realized the wind was picking up for kitesurfing!). We happily give an EXCELLENT recommendation if you are considering this villa for your stay in Turks!"

  • Lovely Island Cottage

"My boyfriend and I visit St John fairly often, and we don't think of the island as a luxury destination - what keeps drawing us back is the simplicity of island life. We enjoy having a place to call home while we're there, and home is exactly what Molly's Cottage felt like when we stayed there last month. Cozy and tastefully decorated, with a great new open concept kitchen. We loved the large screened doors which let in the sunlight, cool breezes, and beautiful views (while keeping out the bugs!). Close to town without being right in it, and convenient to every part of the island. (Definitely recommend renting a jeep to get around and explore this amazing island!). Dining options on St John are excellent, but it was nice to enjoy some dinners at the cottage, too. There are several markets in town, so it's easy to stop and pick up whatever you need on your way back from the beach. The deck overlooking Chocolate Hole Bay is great - we ate breakfast there every morning, and it was the perfect place to relax with a cocktail or a glass of wine after days filled with hiking, paddle boarding, and beach bumming (be sure to use bug spray in the late afternoon/early evening when the no see ums and mosquitoes are fierce!). Being able to walk to the beach was fun - Chocolate Hole isn't the most spectacular beach on the island, but it was so nice to have it right there. Nice strolls in the morning and before dinner, and we did spend one very pleasant afternoon there swimming and beachcombing. The lack of AC was not a problem thanks to the breezes and fans (who wants to listen to a noisy window AC unit anyway - or sleep with the windows closed - when you can be lulled to sleep by the sound of tree frogs, crickets, birds, and waves?!). Having a washer and dryer was convenient. We mostly used the clothes line for drying - those breezes dry laundry in no time! There is good internet connection at the cottage, too. The owner is a pleasure to communicate with, quick to respond to emails and answer questions. We would definitely rent Molly's Cottage again. And we would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a simple, laid back island experience."

  • Magnifique!

"Villa Skrutten is a beautiful villa with great accommodations and a sensational view. There are so many beautiful places and beaches to visit in St. Barth's but loved being at the Villa for lovely sunsets. There were 5 of us (all adults) staying at the house and we had room to spare. We were there to celebrate a milestone birthday for me and it was truly a birthday to remember. So many great restaurants but still a very relaxed atmosphere. The villa has a beautifully appointed kitchen for any level of cooking! We truly enjoyed Nepresso machine for our morning coffee! The pool is delightful and the living space is well appointed and comfortable. Lots of nice extras like Apple TV, a Bose wireless speaker, and of course great wifi. Goran is very good to work with and the local property management is extremely responsive and courteous. They were helpful with everything from meeting us at the airport to recommendations on a scooter rental company. Everyone we met in St. Barth's was gracious and friendly. We have never had a better island vacation. Can't wait to return!"

  • A slice of heaven!

"This was our 5th visit to Rhumb Runners. How do you describe paradise? When we arrive I take a deep breath and remind myself how lucky we are to have found this beautiful, perfect, location and house to stay in. Coral Bay overall is a wonderful spot, close to less crowded beaches, convenient food store and great selection of restaurants. The house was lovely the first time we saw it many years ago, but Mike and Cris continue to put in improvements over the years, new kitchen, flat screen TV, original artwork, new chairs, the list goes on. They added some great beach chairs, easy to sling on your back and hike with. We used the grill on the deck and the kitchen to cook some great meals. Of course the views are priceless. I saw another review that mentioned a steep drive up. I've been to several other houses, and this is one of the easiest to get to with this kind of view. My sister was staying in another house about the same height but the view was more hills, less water. In addition to the beautiful views this is a very private location. Loved going to the beaches early, the snorkeling was great, turtles, rays, all kinds of fish, but is was wonderful to relax at the house in the afternoon. Our 23 year old son loved it as well, we were a little worried he would get bored with his parents but we all agreed it was a fabulous trip. Can't wait to go back, I wouldn't dream of staying in another house!!!"
