  • Life experience!

"To begin our trip we arrived in Liberia Airport. Great easy airport. Rented a car and was off to Playa Flamingo. We arrived on the 1st of Jan. 2017 and the beach was very crowded, cars everywhere. Our cell phones did not function for whatever reason and so we could not contact the condo owner, Octavio. We stopped at a restaurant and borrowed a phone from a friendly local and were able to call but did not reach Octavio. A few minutes later a man pulls into the parking lot and asks if I am Mark. It was Octavio. The person who lent his phone got a call back from Octavio and he found us. Also we learned that the first of Jan is the busiest day of the dry season. I should have figured. Anyway Octavio was a real pleasure. His condo is nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. The views are as beautiful as you could ever imagine. The locals are friendly and kind. The food is so healthy and delicious. The birds from the balcony kept me busy and the beach was a comfortable walking distance. Flamingo is a heavenly place. Thank you Octavio Mark and Deedee"

  • Great Christmas family getaway

"Our family stayed December 2016. 7 adults--2 couples, 3 singles. The 4 bedrooms worked fine. The one that has no privacy and that you have to walk through to get to the bathroom is a little weird. It was also odd that that bathroom didn't have a ceiling (which means not completely private) but there was another bathroom so that was ok. The beach is great. You can wade out a long way and still touch so it felt very safe. We did not sit on the beach. There were ants that sometimes felt like they were biting my feet if I was still but it wasn't that big of a deal. Some of us had irritation from something in the water but was only stung for an hour or less and then went away. There is a shower in the backyard just inside the gate that was very convenient to wash off before going in the house or pool. Many people walked the beach (but it was not crowded at all) and everyone was friendly. There is a dramatic difference between high and low tide. You can't walk as far during high tide. There is an inlet or estuary each way that you can not cross when the water is high. The pool area is great. The cabana and row of bushes provide shade and privacy. The balcony is lovely and shaded all day long with a great view. Jorge, the house manager, lives on the first floor of the house and he took good care of us -- got our groceries, shuttled us to and from the airport, and drove us to and from the Beach House restaurant (he had an emergency at another place he manages so we waited a long time and we could have had better communication regarding that though). We went jet skiing and snorkeling with his son Joshua which was very fun. We rented boogie boards and kayaks from the place down the beach. It would have been nice to have had some beach "toys" available at the house. We walked to Perla's restaurant (10 minutes). I walked the beach to the Beach House one morning (27 minutes). I walked to the restaurant to the right down the beach (12 minutes) but we didn't eat there. There is a convenience store that is a 10 minute walk. The groceries and restaurants were more expensive than we anticipated. The 7 of us had lunch at the restaurant at the airport (no one ordered alcohol) and it cost $175! 6 of us ate at Perla's with 3 drinks and it was $100. We spent around $350 on groceries which did include alcohol. Overall, we were very satisfied. Casa Surfside was reasonably priced for all ALL that we got -- togetherness, beach, pool, and fabulous view."

  • Fantastic Flamingo Beach

"We decided to treat ourselves for our last 3 nights in Costa Rica and rented this condo via VRBO (my first experience using VRBO) and was really pleased. From the warm greeting from the rental managers to the location and quality of the condo, we were very, very happy! The views of the Pacific were spectacular and the beach was only a 5 minute walk down the hill. The condo was great too! Very well appointed, clean, huge kitchen, and a wall of glass. Would recommend this for anyone."

  • Wonderful week in paradise!

"We stayed at the flamingo house for a week the end of January with our whole family including 3 couples and 2 singles. We had a fantastic time during our stay! The house is absolutely perfect... everyone had plenty of room and almost everyone had their own bathroom. The pool is the a great place to hang out after the beach. Most of all the location is unbeatable... it is one of the few houses on Flamingo Beach (which is the best beach in the area) so it was very private but also next door to the bar/restaurant Coco Loco so not too secluded. The staff was incredible...Erica cleaned every day and kept everything neat and fresh, Jose was the night guard who cleaned the pool, Christian organized activities for us and translated when needed, and Ivonne was the chef who really made the stay for us. They were all so friendly and although they didn't speak English they were eager and willing to try to learn and communicate. Ivonnes cooking was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. She cooks in the outdoor kitchen and everything she made was authentic and delicious. We couldn't have been more pleased with the overall experience."
