  • Great stay and great hosts!

"Good accommodation and an amazing view! Overlooks pool and has an outdoor seating area with the most amazing view! There was even a good little trail for running/walking right on the doorstep! Freya and Malcolm were brilliant hosts with great advice and always offering to help with our stay!"

  • Cheers

"We had a great time at this countryside home. Private charming home with in driving distance to very nice quaint villages. Well equipped kitchen and nice seating areas around the home to enjoy scenery and solitude. We will be back as we did not see everything on our list."

  • The perfect Tuscan home

"We were a big family, 9 adults, staying at il Cuculo in the beginning of June - and it was exactly like in the pictures. There was lots of space and nice rooms, clean sheets and towels (beds were kind of hard but you got used to it during the week). Nice to have many bathrooms, so the mornings were not a hassle. The kitchen was well equipped but the appliances were quite old. The pool and the surroundings were perfect. It was like in a dream to have a morning swim surrounded by lavenders and olives. And it was nice to be waken up by the rooster ;) Lucia was a good host and speaks good English. Stia is a picturesque old village but really traditional in respecting the Tuscan schedules. Shops are closed from 12 to 4 in the afternoon and restaurants only serve food during traditional lunch and diner times. As it is a small town the grocery prices are not as cheap as in bigger cities in Italy, and the choices are limited too. As Stia is in the mountains it was a little bit chillier than other places, at least in the beginning of June when the temperatures were under 25 degrees (celsius). There are nice places to visit nearby like the castle of Poppi. What really surprised us was the mountain roads. Even though it is only 50 km from Florence, the last 30 kilometers take over a half an hour because you have to drive up and down on a serpentine road. All in all it takes an hour 15 minutes to Florence. So I would not recommend this house if you are planning to do excursions to other places in Tuscany. There are mountain roads to go where ever you're driving."

  • Review for stay from 23 July 2016 to 13 August 2016

"Beautiful house, very nice owner. Owner and his wife did everything to make our stay nice, but we could not understand each other. Contactperson was difficult to reach, and when we reached him his reaction was short and brutal. We found 2 times cleaning the pool in a period of 3 weeks with temperature over 30 degrees not too much. But he said we have to keep calm, it was no problem!"
