  • Outstanding Accomodations- spacious, beautiful decor, extremely well equipped

"Elizabeth was highly available and very helpful with all details of accomodations- where to shop, where to get fresh fish, where to snorkel. She providecd a welcome package with goodies, extra coffee and some wine and beer. All welcomed and unexpected. Great location on beach, beautiful pool with comfy beds. Great restaurants nearby on beach but we chose to buy groceries and utilize the abundantly stocked kitchen. We snorkelled twice a day and loved it. Many we saw were diving as well and got picked up from dock next door. Residencias Reef with Elizabeth and Matt was a great choice. We would choose here again."

  • Absolutely Perfect!

"We are so happy with our visit and lodging at Ixchel. This space was perfect for 4 adults and one child. The bedrooms are at opposite ends so we didn't feel like we were on top of each other all week. Everything in the unit was charming and clean! The balcony is lovely and we spent a lot of time outside every evening. Everyone at Ixchel was so friendly and helpful! We are already talking about going back next year!"

  • Wonderful stay

"I really enjoyed my 10 day stay at Stephanie's casita. As others have mentioned, this is a property in a local neighbourhood so you are not surrounded by tourists. The casita is simple but very comfortable and it is so nice to have your very own garden. Other than sleeping I spent all my time outside. Even in a heavy downpour I was able to stay dry sitting at the large palapa table. For me, an added bonus was the resident kitty Diego, along with his mama from next door who always came to hang out with us. Also there was a bike to use, so I was able to bike around town, and also down to the beach. If you are looking for something off the beaten path and do not need the luxuries of a five star hotel or resort then this is the place for you! Stephanie and Manuel were both excellent to work with, very friendly and responsive to questions or concerns. I had rented a car, and I actually found that Stephanie's map and directions were spot on. No problem finding the property even though I arrived at night Stephanie also gave me a list of her favourite restaurants in the area which was very helpful. I would add one to that list: Taqueria Don Honorio. It is about 1.5 blocks east of the Scotiabank. They had the best tacos I've had anywhere. It is family run and super busy with locals and some tourists too. Go in the morning as I think they close at 2pm Other than the obvious beaches, I would also highly recommend a visit to cenote Labnaha. It is just north on town, and not touristy at all. I had a private guided snorkel tour in these caves and it was the highlight of my trip! Also recommended are the ruins at Muyil about 1/2 hour south of town. Again, this is off the. Eaten path so you can enjoy a less touristy experience. There is a trail at the end of the Ruins that you can take into Sian Ka'an. It is about a 15-20 minute walk on a boardwalk through the jungle to Laguna Muyil. Along the way be sure to climb the lookout tower for a bird's eye view of the area In all a great stay, and I would most definitely return to Stephanie's casita!"
