  • wunderful time after a roundtrip through Mexico

"We stayed for 10 days in the Hacienda at casa sisal in early September. We enjoyed the quietness, the feeling to be in the nature there, the places around and to live in an outstanding design object. Cyndy and Howie as well as Wilhelm and the staff made us everything comfortable, so could enjoy the heat in the pool, the frogsound in the evenings and the lights of fireflies when it gets dark. Merida is close, with a lot of fantastic possibilities for food. Uxmal and Chichen Itza are 1h away, Mayapan only 30 min. Enjoy the cenotes around ... it is amazing to swim there. But the best is the feeling, when you come back to Casa Sisal after all these activities ..."

  • Wonderful and Charming Stay on the Beach

"We spent ten days in El Cuyo, a nice little fishing village about a 2.5 hour drive from the Cancun airport. Before our trip I had many questions which Yahaira was great about answering in a timely manner. We had a little trouble connecting with the rental caretakers when we first arrived, but that was because our cell phones didn't work. But Sarah and Gabriel showed up about 15 minutes after we arrived and got us settled in. They checked in on us almost daily, and even offered to give us a tour of the town. The house is great! Lots of room and all the cooking utensils we needed and it was very clean. The location is great, especially if you do not want to do the touristy thing. The house is located down a quiet (bumpy) road, and almost every time we swam we had the entire beach to ourselves, as far as we could see. Swim towels are provided for you, as well as towels for your showers, sheets and dish towels (I was impressed that they even provided new bars of soap and a new scrub pad for the kitchen!). The only suggestion I have is that they provide more fans. We had four, but two didn't work very well. I realize that Mexico in July is very hot, but with no air conditioning the downstairs room was very hot at night. We even kept all of the doors and windows open at night but the air just couldn't get back to that room. But other than that, the rental was wonderful and we loved our very comfortable stay. We took some day trips to the ruins and cenotes and enjoyed some of the small quaint local restaurants. The locals were very nice and we had a wonderful vacation."

  • Cozy, comfortable retreat, very responsive and polite Property Mgmt!

"We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Barenda! The property is tastefully decorated; contemporary yet retaining the Mexican Mayan elements that make Merida so special. Everything you need is within walking distance, and with the convenience of Uber (reserved for those rainy afternoons) we didn't miss having a car at all. The little pool was so fun for our kids and to relax after a busy day of walking. The kitchen, although in our opinion too small for meal prep & cooking for a family of 4, offers everything you need if you were to cook and eat in! With the convenience of having Mercado de Santiago and all the restaurants of Santa Lucia within a few blocks, as well as the extremely reasonable prices, we ate out/ordered in for every meal for a fraction of what it would cost in the States. The rooftop terrace was perfect to have a drink and enjoy the cool afternoon breeze. Our only concern was not realizing that the second bedroom was separate from the main structure, accessible through the pool/courtyard area. It does have a lock and key, but with younger kids we wouldn't have been comfortable leaving them there for the night. The 4 of us ended up sharing the main bedroom, and the kids slept great in their own hammock! Our electric bill wasn't outrageous (the equivalent of ~30 USD for 4 nights), but we were very stingy running the AC's only when needed. We would love to come back once our kids are older and they can have their own room! We definitely recommend this property for couples traveling together, or for families with teenage kids. Thank you Tim and your team at Merida Rentals & Property Management!"

  • The authentic and magical Mexico!

"This was my 4th visit to Hacienda Sac Chich and if I thought it was amazing before, I was blown away by it now. The owners have continued to refine this property, going to any and every length to ensure its authenticity, beauty, and comfort. Their eye for the artistic and dramatic offer a feast for the senses. I tried to snap photos for social media bragging rights, but I could never do it justice. On this particular trip we were 4 couples for a 5-night getaway and it couldn't have been more perfect. Based on the owners recommendation we had an exceptional dinner in nearby Merida, we hired a wonderful massage therapist to come to the hacienda for a few treatments, we visited nearly a cenote a day - each one more wonderful than the next, climbed the Mayan ruins, and were thrilled at our good fortune that there was a festival/rodeo/bullfight right in their little village the weekend of our visit! But mostly, we just enjoyed this magical place with our big decisions each day being which pool to dip in, which location to watch the sunset from, and what kind of margaritas we would serve at happy hour. If you need to escape the stresses of life, turn back time, rejuvenate - this is where you need to be. And just in case you're not able to fully shut off the outside world (full disclosure - that includes me) they do have wifi ; )"
