  • Perfect for group fun

"There were 7 of us, 3 couples and 1 single, so we all had a bedroom/bath suite to ourselves, with 1 bedroom left over. 3 of the group were visiting from Italy so we enjoyed exploring the area of vineyards and olive groves, taking in a great tour of Halter Ranch underground cellars. The area is like a young version of what they are used to in Italy, and it was fun to talk about the comparisons. We all love to cook so the large kitchen, fully stocked with cookware and serving dishes, with 2 sinks and plenty of countertop space was perfect for 3-5 people working at one time. We set big platters of food on the large peninsula between the kitchen and dining room and feasted every night. The local community is a nice place to walk in the morning or evening light, with hills to get your blood pumping, views of the lake, and deer and wild turkey grazing on the properties. When we arrived on Christmas Eve, we found the home decorated beautifully and we immediately made ourselves at home with a fire, the Christmas lights and a long-awaited reunion! The interior design of this home is professionally done and the home is stocked with everything you need but your clothing and groceries. There are 2 outdoor living/eating spaces and a ping pong table which we used. This is a beautiful place to stay with a group, especially if you enjoy wine tasting, craft beer, olive oil tasting, or boutique shopping in Paso Robles. In our case we did not experience the restaurants, but heard some rave reviews from the locals. Next time!"

  • Excellent getaway location

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: A great quiet getaway for two. The staff were friendly, helpful and easygoing!!! Even the dog - Brock, was a hoot to have around and helped clean up by taking care of our steak bones after we grilled on the patio. Would definitely recommend this to those wanting some privacy and lots of options for wine tasting"

  • Excellent Family Retreat

"The Woodpecker House was a fantastic choice for a non-traditional Christmas retreat for our family. We (8 adults and a child under 2) all had a great time at the lake. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax in the manner each person desired. The caretakers were extremely helpful in meeting our needs, and we were able to enjoy some lovely mornings paddle boarding and kayaking. The house felt festive and homey, and we were pleasantly surprised by how well-stocked the kitchen was! Lands End was great to work with, and they were very accommodating about last-minute requests and modifications to our stay. I would recommend this location for anyone wanting a peaceful getaway, and I would definitely book with them again. Thank you for a memorable holiday!"

  • Cute Home - great stay!

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a great little home. It was spacious enough for our 2 adults and 3 kids. However, there were some things that were not prepared for us as this is a brand new rental property. Towels in the cabinets still had tags which leads me to believe that they weren't washed yet. We had to use the sofa bed but the bed was still in the plastic bag when folded out and the house didn't provide linens or extra blankets for the sofa bed. We called the property management and they were responsive in delivering linens for it, but not blankets. Luckily, it was warm enough that blankets weren't an issue. We ended up using the DVD player that was unopened, still in the box and we had to connect to the TV. However, I don't think the TV was setup to see both HDMI ports. We got it working by swapping out the cable for the dvd player and then swapping it back afterwards. Drinking glasses in the cabinet were brand new, with stickers still on the glasses. There were brand new games in the cabinet for my kids to play with, so we broke the seals on those. This house was very nice and clean but would have been nice if some of these items were ready for us. One suggestion to the property manager is to place a shower curtain or door on the shower. There was no way to keep water from splashing out, soaking the bath rug constantly. We ended up placing a towel down instead to soak up some of the water. We forgot and left our ice packs in the freezer. I guess it was a donation to the house since it was not mentioned that it was found. This house was hard to find initially as it is not exactly on Olive. It is an alley behind Olive street. It's nice that it's tucked away from the main street but we still had to drive to downtown to get to the park and restaurants. Overall, good stay for us! I would stay here again if I'm in the area."
