  • Warm Cabin lots of snow

"Beautiful cabin has lots of space very easy to book. The owner Len was very easy going. We had lots of fun with the family. We stayed the last weekend in February and there was lots of snow for the kids to play in, cabin had lots of firewood and a BBQ with propane tank that we used. Just make sure you take snow chains. We will defiantly be going back."

  • Outdoorsy

"We arrived at the cabin a few hours after she said it would be open for us, unfortunately all the doors were locked. There's no cell service in town so we considered going to the neighbors first, but the boyfriend wanted to go to the general store instead. That was a lucky break because the general store clerk knew exactly who managed and owned the property so she called each of them. There was no luck reaching them but she also knew who was cleaning the property and it had just been cleaned that day according to the clerk. We got a hold of that person and got the key within 20-30 minutes of arriving at the store. In the meantime, the boyfriend went over to the tavern and made some friends with some other HomeAway travelers. They were very nice. The property is very adorable inside. The saloon is one of the best features for sure. It is outdoors though because it's just a covered patio, but it was great plus there are two heating elements and lots of bar lights! :) The store clerk told me to "Beware" because once the lights are on everyone knows the "bar is open" haha! That made me smile for sure. The only downsides: -takes a while for the whole place to be heated thoroughly (do NOT close any bedroom doors if you want to use them later, make sure the heat gets to them all) -there was no toilet paper but the property manager didn't let us know we needed to bring our own -there's only a claw foot bathtub with a spray nozzle attachment and the hot water goes FAST I mean like the tub gets full 1/4 and it's gone -the satellite doesn't always have reception because of weather so plan on bringing dvd's, usb drives, etc and make sure they work if you want other entertainment for the times when you're in the cabin -the smoke detector in the kitchen goes off for almost any reason when using the oven/stove Other than those things I would say now that I've learned some about the cabin I would most likely stay again. :) It was a nice, cozy, snowy weekend and I loved it!"

  • Get away from it all

"My family stayed here over a long weekend in Spring. Big house with plenty of room and great kitchen for cooking. Beautiful wooded grounds on all sides. Quiet / spread out neighborhood. You drive up a long and very windy road to get up to Camp Nelson, which means you're seriously out of the "big city" (but also means you're not connected except via wi-fi at the house). The tavern in "town" (using the word very loosely) had fabulous dinners and breakfasts, and the locals were fun to talk to. Took lots of beautiful hikes, some of which still had lots of snow! Gorgeous river/creeks, beautiful sequoia trees, lots of deer (as well as some horses and donkeys and mules). Great experience."
