  • Perfect: view and location!

"The view. The view. The view. That's all I wanted in a house. A big deck with a lake view. This house delivered. The pictures of the view don't do it justice. There is also a beautiful forest view. The deck is huge, with great patio furniture. You could sit out there all day and night. The location! The house is at the end of a road with protected space next door. It is private and quiet. The house is several streets up the hill from the road, so road noise was not really a factor. The house is walking distance to Tahoe House Bakery and the restaurants in Sunnyside. The bike path is easily accessible. The house is very comfortable. It is set up with a large open living space in the middle with the master bed and bath on one side and the other two bedrooms and bathroom on the other. There is a door that can be closed effectively making that side a two bedroom suite. We are a family of four with two teenagers. There was more than enough space. The owner is wonderful to work with. She is very responsive and very helpful. I felt like she was really interested in making sure that we had a great time. We hope to make staying here a regular part of our summer vacations."

  • Good value for money

"We had a wonderful family gathering at Tahoe. The house was a good home base for our diverse group, including 3 small children under 7 and 4 young 20 something women. It was a good home base for exploring different areas on Lake Tahoe and for checking out nearby attractions including Squaw Valley and Emerald Bay & doing activities like zip-lining. We enjoyed shared dinners with the 8 adults & 3 kids living at the house and simply chilling along with 3 others of us who stayed at the Granilbakken near by. Meals were fun and dutifully delegated. The only trouble was with the oven when I tried to roast lamb and found the oven set in Sabbath mode. Long story short, the roasts finished cooking on the grill outside and were done to perfection. The other hassle was with slow wifi, particularly with many digital devices working at the same time. Lots of pine pollen, in case people suffer with allergies. Also, the 6000 ft altitude takes a little getting used to. All told, fabulous vacation and a memorable time because, ultimately, it was all about family coming together. Thank you Allee for use of your cabin in the woods."

  • Great place for families with kids

"We just got back from our weekend in the snow and this house was perfect. Plenty of room, lots of towels, and cozy flannel sheets! The location is great -very close to Grand Liebakken, easy quick drive to Tahoe City, 10 mins to Homewood, and Alpine Meadows and Squaw valley are just 15-20 mins away. Owners were responsive and easy to work with. One note: if there's a lot of snow, you'll need chains to get through the neighborhood up to the house. We didn't need chains all weekend except in the neighborhood!"

  • Buckhorn Cabin

"Lovely cabin, very clean. Kitchen very well stocked. Has nice sized refrigerator, but bearings seemed to be going out. Every 15 minutes or so, heard loud klunk. Very nice sized bathroom. Has tub to step in for shower- seems a bit high. May not work for elderly folks. Also has stairway up to cabin which is over garage, so may not work for those who can't climb stairs. Short walk (some hills) to HOA park. HOA park is lovely. Carolyn reserved a table/BBQ at lakeside level for us on Saturday- it was fabulous! Only issue (other than refrigerator and tub/shower) was the lack of airflow through cabin. We were there when temp was in 90's. Tried fan that was on thermostat, but was ineffective. Opened all windows and front door during day, but couldn't do that on all windows at night due to bears. This cabin would benefit with 2 ceiling fans to help circulate air better."
