  • A great vacation

"We came to La Jolla for our spring break -- a much needed break from the cold. The instructions to find and access the property were very clear. Brant was easily accessible via text to help with our questions. The house was perfect for the five of us -- three teenage boys. We loved the access to the shops and dining at La Jolla. Our favorite breakfast place was Shorehouse. We tried several of the other restaurants and all were great! The beach was nice, but the water was very cold. We rented a wet suit for my son so he could boogie board, which worked out well. The house came with beach chairs and a cooler, which came in handy. Lots of sand toys, too, but my kids are too old for those. It was nice to walk around and my kids were also able to skateboard. Visiting the Cove is a must. Got to see sea lions on the beach, which was pretty amazing. We also visited Coronado beach several times. We love that beach and it's just a drive away -- more great shops and restaurants. We also hiked at Torrey Pines State Reserve -- a must if you like to hike. All in, it was a great place to stay. Convenient (loved having a washer and dryer), clean, plenty of space. Would stay again."

  • Excellent Location

"This was a quiet location with great access to stores. If you don't have a car, there are three grocery stores across the road. If you do have a car, then it is close to the motorway and downtown San Diego is not far away. My friend and I enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. Marilyn sent through great instructions and it was a pleasure renting from her."

  • A great week in San Diego

"My fiance and I rented this place for a family vacation (and an event) with both of our parents and relatives. There were 17 of us in total staying at both the Blue House (The little Lodge) and the Summer House. We were there for 6 nights. The place is extremely spacious and great for big family. The beach and stores are within walking distance. This made it easy for everyone to have their own schedule and do their own things when we were not around. The owner, Dan, was extremely flexible with us in terms of checking out the place before renting, check in, getting keys etc. He even checked in with us after we settled in on the first night to make sure we had everything. The place is old but it was cleaned, and the kitchen was equipped with everything you need for cooking family meal. There is a big yard in between the two houses and we used it for an event of about 60 people. The event was in our rental contract and we worked with Dan for proper set-up and requirements. It was easy because Dan organizes his own event every year."

  • Great location and beautiful home

"This house is beautifully furnished and the location is spectacular. It is right on the beach in La Jolla Shores. The large picture windows in the den and kitchen offer an unbelievable view of the beach and ocean. This is my second stay and I hope to return. The area has so much to offer; however, you may not want to leave. The house is stocked with anything you might need: beach chairs, sand toys, boogie boards, surf boards, paddle boards, wet suits and more! The kitchen, too, is well stocked and has everything you might need. The house has a very large patio area with a hot tub overlooking the beach. It also has a side patio that is lovely and very private. It's a great place to sit out with a cup of coffee and watch the hummingbirds flit around. The main part of the house has three bedrooms and two baths. The bath that is shared by two bedrooms does not have a shower. It has a large tub with a handheld shower. That is the only reason I gave it four stars instead of five. The fourth bedroom is actually a suite with a separated sitting area and a private bath. It is located under the main house and is only accessible from the outside. I think it has a sofa sleeper. It definitely has a fabulous view over the beachfront patio straight to the ocean. I can't say enough about the place. The owner was very easy to deal with. I highly recommend staying here."
