  • Absolutely Recommend

"I think I'll be repeating much of what has already been written about this property. The description and pictures as noted on VRBO are representative of the property so there won't be any surprises. Owner/Staff: The owner, John, was terrific before and during our stay. Very helpful and responsive. His staff always friendly. The Unit -- on the ground floor with its own little sitting area outside, quiet, bedroom a good size with lots of closet space, high ceilings. TV and Netflix. The internet was very good the entire 13 nights we stayed. Kitchen has all you would need to cook. Location -- we loved that we could walk to many attractions; or driving to major attractions was easy and quick. For example - 15 minute walk to Gaslamp District; 25 to 30 minutes to the waterfront. From this you can walk to Seaport Village, USS Midway, Maritime Museum, Waterfront, etc. It took us less than 10 minutes to drive to Balboa Park and the Zoo. We went to a football game and that was also a10 minute drive. Petco is also do-able as a walk. You can walk to restaurants/bars as well. I'd recommend Hodad's on Broadway for a burger - about a 20 minute walk. John provided 2 summaries of excursions -- the one to Torrey Pines / Mount Soledad was great as it provided a local's helpful hint about parking at the Gilderport versus the Park -- we avoided tons of parking issues at the Park. Parking at the house: we never had an issue with parking. If not directly in front of the house, always closeby. Didn't have any security concerns. General - yes, you will see a few homeless individuals if you walk but we never had any problems. Only 1 or 2 approached for money, and they were polite and did not give us any reason for concern. Overall - We really enjoyed our stay at this property and in this unit. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it; and no doubt will recommend it to our friends who are thinking of visiting San Diego."

  • Wonderful stay and wonderful hosts!

"My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful 5-night stay at this "casita" in the greater San Diego area. We spent most of our time at the PGA golf tourney at nearby Torrey Pines and wanted a retreat where we could enjoy the evening and get ready for the next day at the golf course. Toy provided us with exactly what we wanted -- and then some. The setting was pleasant and quiet. Nice furnishings with a comfy bed. Many little niceties, such as coffee, juices, popcorn, granola bars, butter, etc. Also a supply of toiletry items, just in case needed. We have rented many vacation homes over the years, and this was one of the best. Unique among all was the quality breakfast Toy prepared each morning (delivered to our front door at the time of our choice!) It was fun to see what Toy prepared for us each morning -- every day was excellent and special. We would highly recommend this rental to anybody who wants a comfortable place to stay coupled with a special breakfast treat each morning. What's not to like?!"

  • Perfect in every way!

"I stayed at Dan and Wendy's adorable studio villa for a month while in San Diego for work. The place itself was adorable, spotless, and newly renovated. Wendy and Dan were excellent hosts and made sure that I had everything I needed. The villa is separate from their home, but they were close by, quick, and responsive if I ever needed anything. The view from the terrace is breathtaking and was my favorite place to unwind after a long day at work. Their dog, Reese, is as sweet as can be and was great company. The location is also very central (in City Heights) and close to the highway - nothing was ever more than a 20 minute's drive away. North Park, Hill Crest, Balboa Park were minutes away via car. Parking is free and finding spots was hardly ever an issue. There is washer/dryer onsite. This place was pretty much the full package and had everything that I needed for an extended stay. The neighborhood felt very safe. It was a short drive away from great restaraunts and breweries but also a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. I absolutely loved staying here and would stay again. Highly recommended!"
