  • Lovely location & well-appointed cabin

"We had a really lovely time staying at this mountain home! LOCATION: Near Divide, Colorado, it was 'in the middle' of all of the area activities we were wanting to do & we enjoyed returning each day to a quiet place in a serene setting & the ability to cook our own meals & pack our own picnics, thus saving a lot of money & time from restaurants! PROPERTY: This property was very clean & well maintained & organized! The cabin itself is very nicely laid out with 2 bedrooms (1 double/1 king), living, bath (shower/toilet/sink), and kitchen/dining on the lower floor. The upper floor has a large bedroom with a double & 2 twin beds in it & a little loft with love seat & bookshelf full of games. Not sure the Pikes Peak view is still quite so clear from the deck. FURNISHINGS: It was nice to see someone didn't just throw in their leftovers or head to Walmart to furnish this property! Although some of the bed linens & pillows could use replacing, there was a lovely supply of quilts, towels, dish towels, etc, all in good condition. The kitchen was well-appointed, with nice pots & utensils, although a medium sized skillet would've been nice & one of the large ones was very scratched up. There were no larger mixing bowls...only a small one. There were your basic salt & pepper, coffee filters, and plastic wrap, Al foil, etc left likely from others. We added wooden spoons because most utensils were plastic & not good for high heat cooking & a set of measuring cups, because what was there was incomplete. But there were a lot of things in the cabinets, like crock pots, hand mixer, blender, etc that some might find useful...although it's possible they're just taking up space! There wasn't a lot of cabinet space, though, to put your own food when you arrived...we rearranged to help with this a bit. It would be nice if all the dinnerware matched to make it easier to retrieve & store....and something with not such deep cereal bowls! Why we didn't rate it 5 stars: The condition/need for items mentioned above (linens needing replacement, some minor kitchen things) and the fact that the den area only has seating space for 4. The seals on the large windows that look from the den into the forest are broken, so much of the time there was condensate covering about 1/4 of the lower windows, obstructing the view. Even in this case, we would still recommend this property to others looking at this area & consider it ourselves should we return to this area."

  • Very scenic and relaxing

"We had 17 people from my family (including my siblings and their familes) stay for a week. The propery was beautiful. The weather was great, and we saw some Elk roaming around the property. It was so relaxing and convenient. We were able to visit Pikes Peak, river rafting, and a number of other activities. The property was generally in very good shape. A few things that I wasn't counting on (like the pool table and piano) were not in the best of conditions, but we were happy to have them anyway."

  • Wonderful home

"My family of 6 rented the Dusty Rose for our week long stay in Cripple Creek, Co. The home was perfect for our needs. Centrally located to area sight seeing opportunities, near to downtown, but not so close to be bothersome and excellent amenities! The owners were very accommodating as well. We had two vehicles, one of which was a truck camper and 2 trailers. We asked in advance and the owners were fine with us parking all of them on the property. The home was supplied with linens and towels as well as dishes and pots n pans. Having access to a washer and dryer was a huge plus! The hot tub was well kept, clean and the perfect temperature! We were in the hot tub within 30 minutes of our arrival. There is a guest book in the home that was fun to read and to add to. By reviewing the guest book, we obtained some good ideas for places to dine. At one point, we locked ourselves out of the house and the neighbors - who are also the care takers - were kind enough to let us in. Our stay at the Dusty Rose was our first vacation rental, but will not be our last! The price and convenience of a vacation rental is so much better than staying at a hotel. Having access to a kitchen ensures that a wonderful vacation will not be a budget buster! The entire process, from booking to check out - including a myriad of questions from me (I'm a bit of a control freak) was easy and smooth. Lauren answered all of my questions and never once seemed bothered. I cannot recommend this home - or owners - enough!"
