  • Spacious, comfortable, well maintained, lovely...and close to the beach!

"This two bedroom, 1.5 bath ground floor unit of a 2-unit house has a spacious backyard with comfortable seating and a gas grill— plus it is just a 5-minute, half block walk from Holmes Beach. It is a traditional, 40+ year old house that has been meticulously renovated and is spotlessly clean. The walls are filled with original art, the furniture leans toward mid-century modern and the kitchen has modern appliances and is supplied to meet all the basic needs. The unit is spacious and comfortable, with a living room (with TV), a Florida room that's perfect for reading or cocktails, a full dining room and a spacious working kitchen (not eat-in). Both bedrooms also have TVs, and all televisions are connected to basic DirectTV. The wifi network was flawless. With just 1 1/2 baths, the space may be better suited to a couple, small family or very close friends. The property is managed on behalf of the owner by a lovely woman, Lori Waggoner, who was helpful and so kind to us during an unexpected illness during our stay. We felt we had a friend in town but never felt that we were being watched. She truly enhanced our stay. If the size is right for you, it is perfectly easy to recommend this house, owner and property manager! Holmes Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Florida...white, fine sandy beaches, crystal clear water. But the townspeople have burdened the beach itself it with so many rules that one is left with the vague sense that every day is Sunday school. No dogs. No drinking. No music. No loud noises (etc)...even as a middle aged woman with no intention to "party hard," I found myself thinking that they could have replaced the sign with "No Fun" and have more honestly conveyed their intentions. I saw the police stop and hassle a group of two sets of parents and a bunch of little kids because the adults were quietly enjoying beer while the kids built sand castles. Seemed pointless. And local residents seemed to take pleasure in reminding other beach-goers of The Rules! Annoying. Still, Holmes Beach and Ana Maria Island in general retain an old-fashioned feel that's quickly fading on America's shoreline and its appeal is undeniable, even if one has to contend with a few old busybodies who seem to live to spoil the fun."

  • Larger –than –it looks

"The ‘Tangerine’ House is a lovely whimsical larger –than –it looks house. Just minutes from the ocean on Ana Maria Island. My husband and I were surprised with the room sizes, furnishings, and Oh, the cleverness of the décor. At first, we thought, “we don’t need all the room,” but we enjoyed every inch of this well-maintained, 3 bedroom, 3 bath home with great amenities. We would rent this again. We have 2 daughters and it's perfect for a family reunion. Especially with the pool in the courtyard."

"Such a beautiful, comfortable, updated vacation spot, with just a easy couple of blocks walk to the beach! Great for families, or just a relaxing romantic get away! Newly renovated! • Very nice house in great location

"The house is as pictured and described in the listing. Very comfortable for up to 6 people. Relatively firm beds. Updated and well-appointed kitchen, nice bathrooms, outdoor shower. Quiet location convenient to a great part of the beach, very nice and beachy neighborhood. The owner is a pleasure to work with and makes things like beach umbrella, beach chairs (the type that fold into a carrying sack, although we left two nice low chairs in the garage for anyone's use), bikes, small cooler, football, etc. available to guests. The rental rate was very reasonable and the house was certainly worth the price. Anna Maria Island is wonderful. Get out early to the Donut Experiment for custom made donuts. Buy fresh fish at Island Fresh Market and grill on the house's gas bbq. We would certainly consider returning to the island and the house."
