  • A wonderful stay for our family at Palm Villas

"We recently took our 5th trip to the Big Island with our now family of 5 (kids aged 3, 7 and 9). This was our 3rd stay in the Palm Villas and our first in this particular unit. I would have to say this was our best stay yet. The condo was exactly as described and pictured - in fact even better. We had an idea from the description that this unit was child friendly, but when we arrived we found it had literally everything you could think of needing when traveling with young children. Our 3 year old is in between sleeping in a crib and a bed and I was pleasantly surprised to even find a toddler bed rail in one of the bedroom closets that we could use for her! All 3 of our kids loved riding the scooters - they were so excited there was one for each of them AND the helmets as well. I can't say enough about how well this unit is appointed for adults and children as well. That being said, the furnishings and decor were very classy and all the "kid gear" was stored away in closets so this unit would be perfect for an adult only trip as well. In addition to how wonderful the unit itself was, I have to say what a pleasure it was to work with Christine. When our middle daughter became ill a few days before our original trip date and was not well enough to travel the morning of our planned departure, Christine was very quick to respond to my request to change the dates of our trip. Not only did she bump our stay back by a week to our new requested dates, there was no additional cost or fees to do so, even being so last minute. She also allowed us a late check out on our final day since our flight home didn't depart until 9pm. I can't tell you how much of a relief it was to work with someone who understands what it is like to travel with children and was as accommodating as she was. I would absolutely rent this condo again and will definitely recommend it to friends and family traveling to the Big Island."

  • Excellent Location, With Everything You Need

"We stayed at the Laughing Gecko on our first trip to Hawaii. The condo couldn't have been better. Comfortable bed, plenty of towels and the two balconies provided nice cross ventilation. We didn't need to use the ceiling fans because of the nice breezes. It cools down for perfect sleeping weather at night without air conditioning, which was a real plus for us. The kitchen was well stocked. The location within walking distance to the really nice grocery store was just great! We talked to people outside while we walked to the store, and they gave us some nice tips on beaches. Nice and quiet, and star gazing right from the balcony. The location is great because it's only a short drive to the best beaches. We also took the Saddle Road across the island twice to Hilo and Volcano National Park, and this location made that an easy day trip. This was the perfect get away spot!!!"

  • Great stay, great place!

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and felt it was a great value. We stayed with two young kids- we had to stay on alert as there were electronics, glass coffee table, etc for them to get interested in if we weren't paying attention. The beach chairs, boogie boards, beach hats, cooler, pool noodles, etc were all great. We stayed in October and the weather was great, ceiling fans kept the rooms cool enough. The condo complex is nice with a couple pools, and Waikoloa Village has great access to excellent beaches- all within 15-30 minute drive. Shopping easily accessible at the shopping center close by. I recommend Costco for groceries, about 30 minutes away, also for the cheapest gas we saw. Lanai was great, it was convenient to have first floor lanai to be able to walk right over to the pool. This condo is in very good shape and is a great value rental. While we would have preferred a slightly more kid-friendly place (no glass coffee table, less electronics, etc), it worked out great and we would stay there again. Everything was so smooth upon check-in, etc that we never contacted the owner/manager until checkout simply to let them know we were leaving and had a great stay. This was our first time doing a VRBO and it really was awesome. After 2 nights at a resort, which was also great, it was great to settle into the condo with groceries and with the kids in their own room. Nice view of sunset, golf course, and distant ocean view. The grocery store down the street in the shopping center was a great stop on the last day to buy Kona coffee and Mauna Loa chocolate macadamia nuts to bring back for family- easy and convenient on your way out of town."

  • Thoroughly enjoyable stay!

"This is the second time we have stayed at Gail's condo. We had a fantastic time. The lanai is beautiful for sitting out in the morning with coffee, and for dining in the evening. Lovely air conditioned unit, tastefully furnished, and very comfortable in all respects. Well equipped kitchen is handy for some cooking at home at times. We would love to stay here again."
