  • Like staying at your own private resort!

"My husband and I spent 10 days at this wonderful home in Waikoloa. This was the only home in the area that we found to have a private heated pool with a full view of the ocean. The neighborhood is quiet with well kept homes. We spent a lot of time on the large lanai where the infinity pool and ocean view provided a serene atmosphere. It felt like staying at our own private resort. Costco has great prices on fresh island fish, so the BBQ came in handy. The home was very clean with beautiful island decor. It came stocked with everything we needed. We appreciated the beach towels, beach chairs, and beach bag. Another plus was having a garage to park in and a washer and dryer. For the price there is no comparison to staying in a single room in a busy resort hotel with hundreds of other people. Mahalo to Darin and Kevin for sharing their home with us."

  • Great Time! Great value!

"I would actually say 4.5 stars. We enjoyed our time at this condo and it worked fantastic for my immediate family while my extended family stayed in other condos nearby. We loved the ability to have our own space yet conveniently get together with my parents and siblings' families. The condo was overall great. It was clean, the lanai had a beautiful view and the living room was very comfortable. We slept great every night. The small knock on the rating would be 2 things: an ant problem in the kitchen. Luckily they had ant poisoning available for us to use, but we had a hard time getting them to leave. (this was a problem in the other condos that we were in as well.) Also, I would suggest a bit of updating might improve the ambience upstairs. Nice walking and running paths available - we enjoyed this as well as the close proximity of a grocery store, gas station and other shops (including a great coffee shop - Lava Java) Access to the shared pool and community kitchen was wonderful for a low key afternoon without driving anywhere. We also appreciated the ability to use the snorkeling equipment and the body boards. The kids LOVED body boarding at Hapuna Beach: I'd highly recommend! John was available by phone when I called in a panic since I forgot to print the parking pass needed. He helped me with writing out a temporary ticket and the next morning, the office had left me a printout to fill out and place in the car. So, thanks for helping us through that so overall, everything ran smoothly. Thanks for a great place to enjoy our trip!!"

  • Nice unit and good value but arguably best suited to older couples

"Overall this is a nice place provided you are looking for a quiet condo and have tempered expectations of the local beach and pool. Pros: - Overall quality of unit and complex (best in area?) - Well equipped with several kitchen basics and beach stuff - Spacious; great for sharing with another couple - Local paths / trails are cool - Quiet Cons: - Retirement community vibe - Beach within walking distance (A-bay) is a disappointment - Nice pool area but not heated (cold!) and lots of rules (no toys, etc) - Couch is in dire need of replacement - Management company is nice and polite but behind the times with online booking (fax/mail) - Local shopping areas areas (King/Queens shops) have buzz-kill elements like a Macy's and Macaroni Grill - Quiet We had a small maintenance issue that the manager attempted to remedy immediately. The floor is really dirty - probably from folks not taking off their shoes and tracking street grime on to the tile floor. We are strict shoes-off folks so after seeing black soles after 30 minutes I called to request a cleaning. They promptly came and re-washed but is didn't really help. I didn't push it. Overall the place is in nice condition but the floor needs some help. I suppose it is hard with a rental... The complex is really nice but it was hard with a 4 year old - A-bay is a drag, cold pool, no pool toys permitted. All in, it is probably about the best you'll do in the Kohala area but it isn't a great family set up if you are comparing vs a resort."

  • Great condo in a great location!

"My parents, husband, and I rented this condo for our recent trip to the big island. We couldn't have been happier with our choice. The three bedrooms were very nice and spacious. The master bathroom had a comfortable king bed and a very large bathroom. The only issue is that it's not an enclosed bedroom. There is a opening (with shutters) but noise would travel to the main area below. The queen bedroom also has their own bathroom. Both of those rooms were on the upper floor. The main floor bedroom had 2 twin beds and the bathroom was shared by all hanging out on the main floor. We had a small issue with one of the showers but Adriana was very helpful and got it fixed right away! The unit came with a fully stocked kitchen (gadets and cooking applicances, not food) so we were able to eat a lot of our meals in the condo. There is an outdoor BBQ area for all resort guests to use which was nice. There are also boogie boards, beach mats, umbrellas, and beach chairs for you to use during your stay. The pool was great, but note the hottub is only for those 12 years or older The resort gym was small but fine for limited use: a treadmill, ellyptical, stationary bike, and some free weights. The run loop around Waikoloa (using the maintenance road) was about 3 miles. Location was also perfect. It's about 25-30 minutes from Kona but only about 5-10 minutes away from the best beaches. Also in a good spot for a trip over to Hilo or the volcano. While you could walk to A-Bay, faster and easier to drive especially if you're bringing a bunch of stuff."
