  • Excellent. As good or better than advertised.

"Alvy's Hideaway is tucked in a little nitch that makes it very private. It is located on Lake Barkley which made it ideal for water activities. The house is ample for 25 people. We had ages from 79 to 18mo. The kitchen is very well supplied with appliances and was handy for cooking for large groups. The management is very easy to work with and available for any needs. We would definitely consider using this facility again. Jamie was there to greet us on arrival and also to send us off on departure. A very satisfying vacation spot."

  • BEAUTIFUL LOG HOUSE-AWESOME OWNERS

"My husband and I spent a week in this beautiful house, it is very clean and well equipped. John and Kim are very gracious and we enjoyed our conversations with them. Another couple stayed a few nights with us, there was plenty of room and privacy. The house is in a nice peaceful setting making it a wonderful getaway. I enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the birds and squirrels, we even saw an eagle flying over the cove. The deep water boat dock is very nice even though the lake was low we could navigate to fish. The drive and yard around the LAKE house is somewhat steep, but we just looked at it as good exercise and walked it a lot. We hope to stay there again someday!"

  • Quiet, spacious retreat

"We stayed recently with our two teenage sons and this house worked out just as we hoped. There was plenty of space and everyone had their own retreat space since the layout of the bedrooms is very spread out. It's very quiet and peaceful so there were occasional wildlife encounters we found interesting (beavers, deer and lots of large birds). We explored the beach, built a fire in the fire pit and just watched the boats go by from the rocking chairs on the back porch. Beth and Jamie put a binder together with recommendations for what to do in the surrounding area and had local guide booklets on hand which was very helpful in planning our day trips. We liked the fact that the area isn't overdeveloped, but there were plenty of unique activities that helped us connect and have fun together. Having such a comfortable waterfront house surrounded by nature to come back to each evening made for a wonderful get away."
