  • Beautiful. Tranquil. Hideaway.

"We had a lovely week in The Brookie. S'mores at the fire pit. Long, lovely beach afternoons. Many, many pictures and memories of our first vacation with our beautiful granddaughter. The cabin was clean, comfortable and oh so easy to relax in. We highly recommended The Brookie and Star Lake. Wonderful all the way around."

  • Tranquil Family Glamping At Its Finest

"I had the most amazing vacation at Starkey's with my husband and small daughters (2 and 6). Its the perfect combination of rustic luxury. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the great room was a wonderful place to unwind from our adventure filled days. We enjoyed exploring Cranberry Lake in the canoes provided and found many hiking trails that were the perfect speed for the little ones. We cooled off from our hikes with hours of silly diving contests off the dock. In the evenings we grilled and ate outside at the picnic tables. We toasted marshmallows and made s'mores every night in the fire pit and then capped the day with a relaxing soak in the wood burning hot tub (looking forward to visiting again in future years when such relaxation isn't constantly interrupted by toddler Pokemon impressions). After we tucked the kids in bed my husband and I enjoyed drinks by the fire pit where we dragged out some Adirondack chairs to watch the amazing night sky and listen to the loons. One night we let our oldest daughter stay up late. We took pillows out to the dock and laid on our backs and star gazed for hours under the incredible celestial dome with Milky Way's arm stretched across the expanse in all its glory. Sadly she dozed off before catching the many meteor sightings. But I'm certain she will hold this memory of wonder, family togetherness, peace and oneness with Earth and the entire universe, forever. Starkey's is very secluded so we were comfortable letting the kids run around naked half the time. There were very few boats out on the lake so it's very quiet, except when the kids were whooping it up and which we encouraged because there was no one around to be bothered by it. They also really enjoyed the huge swing and playhouse where they had some very imaginative superhero adventures. I had designs on sneaking out to the skylight cabin for an afternoon nap, but never made it. Next year I hope! After an exciting day trip to the Wild Center, we had an overnight visit from family friends who were headed to Pottsdam. They were also in awe of the place and wished they could stay longer. My friend noted that the outhouse is a lot nicer than most of the public bathrooms she's experienced in Boston :-) Long story short: Starkey's Point is awesome and we can't wait to get back. Aaron was very helpful and available via phone if we ever need him (I could get Verizon LTE out at the dock). He even quickly mailed the raincoats we left behind"

  • One of the best places to have a quite vacation

"We stayed her from 16th to 23rd July 2016. Getting to the site was like a suspense movie. You would never believe a RV existed there. The RV was very nicely located close to the water yet no threat or danger. The place was very clean and well maintained and spacious for a couple and 2 kids. The temperature at night drops to about 50 Degrees F and in the morning it’s about 60 degrees F. We went to several lakes and I think Star Lake was very nice and small enough that you could paddle or go around without being too far away from land. The Gas station “Nice-N-Easy” is not too far and carries most grocery and produce you will need to have a comfortable stay. We also came across a small grocery store that was well stocked. We carried everything we thought we needed to stay for a month. If you are looking for a fancy restaurant and super markets or even a mall, you are at the wrong end of the woods. Stay home and do a staycation. Mr. Feet’s was been very friendly and was always there if we had any questions. We used the paddle boat and the kayak and we had a great time. We did not rent the island as we did not feel the need. We did rent the floating dock for 2 days. The first day it was too windy and chilly so we went for 2 hours and got back. The second day we did encounter some engine issues. The engine stopped every 15 minutes and we had to wait for 5 minutes and restart it back. We got it back to the dock and returned back to the RV. Overall a very pleasant trip and would definitely recommend to others and return next year."
