  • Nice quite place to stay with great service near Pungo Lake, Lake Mattamuskeet, Pea Island

"The accommodations on Serenity on the Sound were great. The owners provided a great place to stay with more than we needed. The house and furnishings appears to be entirely brand new. They were also very accommodating with our 20 questions, and even lent us their personal crock pot when I forgot mine. We stayed for 10 days, and everything was well stocked, clean, and all the furnishings were very comfortable, and all at a great price. We will be back. See our adventures: bakertroop dot com"

  • Most relaxing vacation ever!

"This place is absolutely beautiful! We stayed here with our 3 teenage children. They enjoyed fishing, hanging out on the dock, canoeing and swimming. We spent a day in the Outer Banks which was about an hour and a half drive. One word of advice is not to go over the posted speed limit at all! The police just sit waiting to pull you over on the drive over to the beach. Kim and Doug were so nice! They made sure that we had all that we needed and truly made us feel at home. They have an amazing gift of hospitality."

  • Cozy cottage

"We spent three nights in this charming home for the Edenton Candlelight Homes Tour. My no.1 priority in rental property is cleanliness and The Hardison House is pristine! I was perfectly comfortable walking in my sock-feet on the beautiful hardwood floors. Comfy bed, fluffy towels, and a well stocked kitchen made for a delightful stay. The Christmas tree and window candles were a nice touch! Donna met us and gave us a tour of the home and some Edenton tips. We are low maintenance travelers so it was not necessary for us to contact her but knowing that we could and that she would promptly reply was reassuring. Don't hesitate to book The Hardison House!"

  • Awesome!

"I was one of 6 former college room-mates who met for an annual weekend getaway--we had an awesome time! The house was roomy with comfortable beds and a large dining room table where we enjoyed catching up. We came prepared to cook/steam our own seafood but the kitchen was well equipped to prepare most anything (and the owner even offered his steamer pot). Our BEST meal was eaten outside on the picnic table located halfway down the dock--nice breeze, beautiful sunset, and the relaxing sound of gentle waves washing below the pier. Our early risers enjoyed morning coffee in the sunroom overlooking the Sound. With swimming, kayaking, and snoozing on the hammock/beach chairs, there was plenty to do on the property but we couldn't resist a trip into Edenton. We rented paddleboards for $5/hr (a real bargain), sampled Orange-ades from the fountain at the local pharmacy, and feasted on the local chili, cornbread, and sandwiches at Nothin Fancy Cafe. (We also had great pizza at Tommy's before our arrival.) The owners have really tried to think of everything. They had lots of information about the local area and a binder to provide all the details needed to enjoy the property. Alan checked on us the first day and even returned on Saturday to give us a boat tour of the Sound and River! We could not have asked for a better weekend and will definitely consider a return trip!"
