  • Great Choice, We'll Be Back

"My family of nine spent part of the first week of April at the Bear Paw Cabin and could not have been more pleased. Although we have stayed here a number of times previously, this was our first return visit since ownership changed. Communication to and from the property manager was fast, efficient, accurate and pleasant. Instructions for check in and out were clear and reasonable. The property itself is unique in that the “cabin” consists of three separate historic structures combined to make one rental with more than enough room for our large family. Two separate living areas made it very nice for those who wanted to watch the Masters nonstop for four days and for those who had rather read, listen to music or actually speak to each other! The upstairs bedrooms with two bathrooms were a nice quite separation for part of my family with a 13-year son and almost two-year-old daughter. Two eating areas provided more than enough space for all of us (even the golf watchers who reluctantly left the TV for a few minutes) to gather for evening meals. Firewood included was a nice touch even in April as the weather during our five-night stay ranged for snow showers all day to sunny and 70 degrees. There is something about the first week in April and snow that goes hand and hand with Highlands! The setting is secluded with a number of options for long walks and the back of the property, seen through large windows in both the main den and the smaller separate sitting area adjacent, directly faces Shortoff Mountain with the sun rising just to right of the peak. Great choice, we will be back."

  • Feel like a local!

"We have rented often from VRBO/Homeaway and have had mostly good experiences. This was one of the best! The house is even better than described in the listing. Everything was very clean and ready for our arrival. If you want to stay in Highlands and feel like a local, this house is perfect. Located on a quiet street just a block off of Main Street, it is ideal for folks who want to walk a couple of blocks for meals, shopping, and enjoying downtown Highlands. Parking can sometimes be tough on Main Street, so it was great to be able to walk to Mtn Fresh Grocery, Ugly Dog Pub, Buck's Coffee, and everywhere else. The beds were comfortable, with nice linens and pillows, and all of the furnishings were clean and comfortable. The large HDTV worked great, as did the Netflix connection on the DVD player. The listing says the house sleeps 6, but we did not check to see if the sofa was a foldout sleeper sofa. There is a nice huge fireplace, but you will need to buy firewood, or bring your own. The owners were quickly responsive to my text when we checked out on Sunday. We will definitely want to stay here again on our next visit to Highlands, and will recommend it to our friends. Thank you Laird and Matt for sharing your lovely home!"

  • Family Thanksgiving

"We enjoyed our time in Highlands. The house was nice but the Kitchen does not have enough cook ware or utensils to work with. The back porch was definitely the highlight of this Home with the awesome fireplace ! It was nice that we were close to everything ! Would love to visit again!"
