  • Labor Day Weekend 2016

"We had an amazing weekend in your beautiful home. I had my 3 grown children and their families which included three grandchildren ages 2 thru 4, and my youngest son and his girl friend. A total of 10 people. The house was perfect for our situation. There was plenty of room and could have actually had more children. The house had everything we could have needed and was decorated perfect for the mountain feel. We had perfect weather (low 50's in the mornings ) and kept busy every day. From early morning breakfast at Mountain Fresh Market and lunches at Ugly Dog Café we had a ball. Watching the UGA football game on the big screen TV was the highlight for me. The kids enjoyed shopping at a local toy store, visiting the water falls, and panning for gems was a hit. We are ready to come back. Thanks Debi for sharing your home with our family."

  • Quiet & Quaint!

"If you're looking for peace and quiet, this is your place! Cute cabin surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest. My husband and I spent the weekend here as an early birthday for him. MJ and Scott keep their cabin spotless and the kitchen is well-stocked with all the utensils you'll need (although we didn't cook any meals here - too many excellent restaurants in Cashiers & Highlands to enjoy). It rained on and off, so we didn't get to use the fire pit out back, but we were able to spend time on the back porch with a beverage, listening to the little waterfall. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. We didn't see any local critters larger than a cute little frog, but I'm sure they're out there. MJ was very responsive and easy to work with. You'll love it here!"

  • Billye

"So glad I splurged for the house since I fractured my foot the day before our hiking trip! I had a lovely stay... we entertained our local friends for dinner and enjoyed the porch and the wonderful green space around the house. I especially (being home-bound) enjoyed the library of books (and the magazine I accidentally had to send back) and the organized manner of the kitchen. My favorite is hearing the hymns from the church bells in town and the spontaneous drop-in of cute neighbors. The commaradarie of Highlands is dear."

  • Great Family Reunion Set Up

"We had a mini family reunion in the mountains. My wife and I with our son, daughter-in-law, daughter and two grandchildren. The house was perfect for us. Our son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren took the downstairs and were able to spread out in their own apartment. My wife and I had the master suite and daughter took the other main floor bedroom. The loft was not used by us but could have easily accommodated another couple. The location is ideal, 1/2 way between Highlands and Cashiers. We spent time in both towns and spent money shopping in both towns. Plenty of neat shops particularly on Main Street in Highlands. We took the grands trout fishing down in Scaly Mountain and hit all the waterfall viewing spots nearby. We did hike up Whiteside which you need to be in shape for. It is about a mile one way with about 800 feet of elevation change, but worth the effort for the view of the continental divide. Food shopping is easy with Bryson's in Highlands and Ingles in Cashiers. We found Dusty's Meat market on the Dillard Road coming out of Highlands. He cut some beautiful filets which we did on the grill. We ate several breakfast/lunch meals at the Fresh Market in Highlands and got great food, it is semi self service though. Of course we found Kilwins for the grandkids (ha! Grandpa's favorite). It was our ideal getaway. Family retreat. Four couples can easily stay here. If you visit you will enjoy the place. We will be back!"
