  • Stunning view, quiet, great value

"We are staying here for two months while looking for a second home. The view is better than anticipated, especially at night. Very quiet area but yet so close to town. Well decorated and fully stocked with everything needed to be comfortable. Enjoyed the loft for afternoon reading in the sun and the mornings working in the office nook with a large desk and Wi Fi available throughout the home. Would even buy this home if it was available!"

  • A little piece of Heaven!

"We arrived in the Old Fort area on a very warm Saturday morning. Started to reconsider going to North Carolina mid summer, glad we came. The mountain home was AMAZING! It was definitely cooler up top. The house was spotless with more amenities than mentioned in the HomeAway website. In fact, there was nothing lacking for what we were cooking or during leisure. The house was already cooled when we arrived. The view from the deck was beautiful whether it was sunrise, watching a storm go across the valley below, or watch the sunset! There was the cutest nook off the spare room with a lovely stone wall and gnome watching your every move. The landscaping of this area was extremely inviting. The decks had plenty of space with outdoor furniture for lounging or dining. We used the gas grill hard and had a much better view than any restaurant in the area. Places we enjoyed while there: Of course we loved the relaxed atmosphere at Phil's Bar-B-Que Pit. We did a Paddle board tour in Asheville area of the French Broad River. This was booked with Kyle of Mauii SUP (stand up paddleboarding). Kyle was amazing with his patience for helping us succeed. And the Biltmore Mansion is well worth going to. Go early as the crowd assembles early and there is a lot to see. The gardens rival our local Longwood Gardens. The Blue Ridge Parkway was also amazing. We went to Little Switzerland for a lovely dinner overseeing the valley below. All in all it was a fairly central location for all that we chose to do. Lynne made sure we had detailed instructions for everything from locating the home to how to manage everything in the home. We could not have asked for anything more!"

  • Perfect

"We were lucky enough to stay here last month. It's perfect. I have been trying to write a review since that time but have been unable to describe it correctly. The other reviews are accurate, but amazing or gorgeous does not quite do this property justice. It is clean (I am a clean freak), it is beautifully appointed. Everything you need is there. And the view alone is worth the trip. We wanted to stay up the entire last night just because we were so sorry leave Saturday. The house is wonderful for everyone unless you don't have a car. It is perfect."

  • So very relaxing!

"My wife and I added a couple of days on to the beginning of a conference to just get away and stayed at the Chestnut Log Cabin this turned out to be a great idea! The view from the front porch was a place I could have stayed our entire time. The town is an easy distance to walk to, it's very quaint with a surprising amount of dinner options. We went to the Tavern and the Iron Horse Inn, both were enjoyable. We hiked the Lover's Leap just across the river. It has some spectacular views and though we are novice hikers, we found it a moderate challenge but worth the effort. The hot tub was great to relax in after hiking. It's not state of the art, but it is very comfortable and relaxing. The only critique I would give is the need for bigger and softer towels for drying off. You might even consider bringing your own. If this is the only critique, then that's pretty good, but the towels were just small. Overall, Melanie was extremely easy to work with. Our time here was so great, just what we needed!"
