  • Charming, well-equipped cabin in a scenic and peaceful corner of Vermont

"My husband and I stayed for six days in mid-August in Ron's and Dottie's idyllic cabin on a hill. We enjoyed it very much. The cabin, while simple, is provided with everything one needs, in abundance. It was spotlessly clean and everything was in excellent condition. Facing west, allowing for beautiful afternoons and sunsets, the cabin has many windows, all with screens and shades, so it can be as light and breezy as one wishes inside. Outside there is a huge deck with Adirondack chairs and a picnic table. This was our favorite part... the sunsets were staggering, but we even enjoyed a summer storm. The area is lovely, with fields and woods, near the small and friendly village of Belmont (or Mechanicsville until it was renamed in the early 20th century); and the cabin is set well back from a little-traveled road. It is deliciously quiet. A thick folder put together by Ron and Dottie has tons of information on the area, including menus and maps, and suggestions of pertinent websites to follow up on. Ron was extremely friendly and helpful. He was on call for any questions, easy to contact, and very nice!, going out of his way, for example, to help us find a hike on our last day, and answering all questions (including a couple of unnecessary ones due to not having read the folder) with cheerful patience. He and Dottie gave us delicious large summer squash from their garden. All in all we felt most welcome in a relaxed atmosphere, while at the same time enjoying total privacy. We hope to return. Highly recommended!"

  • Peaceful Retreat

"Nothing is lacking in this house or in the setting. Spacious, comfortable and with views that are spectacular. A large wrap around deck is the perfect spot for coffee in the morning and stargazing at night. We were a crew of seven florists from Philadelphia up to design a wedding at The Equinox Resort in nearby Manchester. Although it was a lot of work for a few days, it seemed more like a vacation with the house and the setting. Our last day there we had an afternoon to enjoy a long hike on the nearby trails and it was wonderful......a heck of a climb up but well worth it. We actually saw the barred owl that we heard every night. This really is a very relaxing spot with easy access to much of what southern Vermont has to offer."

  • From One Shore To Another

"Living just 2 blocks from the ocean, it had been years since our last "real" vacation much less since we were in the greater Lake George area. Needless to say, it was well worth the wait, and the lake house was everything we were hoping it would be. Off the beaten track, but easy enough to find with everything you could need or want just a quick & scenic drive away. The house was quaint, clean & welcoming with an amazing view that just pulls you out of your seat and demands that you get outside! Kayaking was amazing with bald eagles & blue herons guiding the way, and the fish were biting every line. After dark, stargazing was hypnotizing with shooting stars abound... As much as we love a campfire, we couldn't bring ourselves to light up the sky! Very quiet, amazingly private, and did I mention the view?!? If you want to "unplug" and detox from the usual daily grind, leave your laptop and cell phones behind because this is the place to do it! My only complaint?- That we didn't stay longer! Thank you so much Joyce & Dennis!!!!"
