  • Lovely Mountain Retreat

"My husband and I were in need of a relaxing long weekend! We could not have found a better spot! Shar has worked to make sure that her renters have everything they need. There is a stocked kitchen, beautiful large bathroom, loft bedroom that looks out to the river, screened in porch, rocking chairs, a grill, fire pit area, dining table that overlooks the river, plenty of parking, flat screen TV, DVD player... She offered to bring over a large dog bed for our pup, so we wouldn't have to drag one from home. Shar gave recommendations for restaurants and a butcher the night we cooked out... she was right about everything!!! She is quite the baker! The first day we got oatmeal raisin cookies and the second day we got red velvet cake- YUM!! The thing was, we didn;t feel like renters by the time we left. We felt like family! You won't find a warmer, friendlier person, so there is no sense in looking further. This is the cottage you want!"

  • Had a wonderful weekend!

"Beautiful place on a great spot along the Shenandoah River. Wish it had been warmer over the weekend we stayed so we could have spent more time with the dogs outside playing in the river, but still had a good time!"

  • Great spring break trip to White Pine Loft Cabin!

"We greatly enjoyed our stay at White Pine Loft. The cabin is very clean and comfortable. We made use of every amenity! The kitchen is well outfitted for a home cooked meal. We made use of the gas grill as well as outdoor dining on the deck. Direct TV allowed us to catch an episode of our favorite show. The cabin's location allows for easy access to the Shenandoah National Park. We were able to squeeze in four different hikes as we explored the mountains. The locals of Stanley are very friendly. We were warmly welcomed at the Brookshire Restaurant. The buffet is excellent as well as a great deal. To really mix with the locals, we suggest breakfast at the Hawksbill Diner or the Hardees in Luray. A pleasant conversation is a great way to slow your pace down. Lisa and Jim have established a wonderful compound of cabins in the mountains. We definitely plan on making a return trip."

  • Quick family and fishing getaway

"My family and I just wrapped up our trip to Sweetwater today, and we were extremely sad to leave. The cottage is very well appointed, very clean, and offers incredible river access. The views from the water are stunning, with river bends in each direction at the foot of a mountain. The sun sets almost exactly over the peak of the mountain to the west. We had neighbors arrive on our second day, but privacy was never an issue, nor was noise. We had rain through a good chunk of one of our days, but never grew bored. There are tons of games, the wi-fi was reliable and fast enough to have the TV and 2 iPads streaming simultaneously with limited picture quality interruption. The screened in porch is fabulous. We took practically every meal out there, and it offered our daughter a great deal of freedom to go inside and out without worry. The kitchen was surprisingly well stocked. There are a plethora of pantry items at disposal, and it would seem most guests pay it forward with what they haven't used, be it paper goods, bottled water and every condiment under the sun. The bedrooms were good sized and offered plenty of temporary storage. They also have the most amazing blankets. Each room has individual heat and air to control the climate in a flash. The bathroom has a nice sized tube and the water pressure is good. The large living area lets in an abundance of light and has a view of the river from anywhere. The leather chair under the books looks like any old chair, but is life altering when you sit down with a book, a cup of coffee and open up the french doors to the river in front of you. We didn't utilize them, but there were canoes and all the supplies needed for a day on the water. I spent many hours in the water fishing. The water was typically ankle-to-knee deep in most spots, with a waist deep pocket here and there. The owner, Jan, was a pleasure to work with. Extremely quick to respond, gave us all the information we needed, and otherwise let us be, which is perhaps the best thing of all. Luray is a short drive away. We did not visit during our stay, but did so go on our way home. There are tons of places to eat, obviously the caverns, and a really nice little zoo full of rescue animals. This is also your nearest grocery store as far as I could tell. This place was amazing for our family of 3. It delivered on everything we were looking for an then some."
