"We regularly start and end our summer vacations in Chelan, but this was our first time staying at a private residence. Joe and Kay's home did not disappoint. It was beautiful, clean, and well-stocked with bath towels, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, and spices (although we brought some of our favorite spices, too). The second refrigerator was good for extra beverages. It wasn't as clean as the refrigerator inside the house, but it was about as clean the garage refrigerator at our house, so we weren't bothered. There was even a baby gate in the closet that was good for the toddler in our group. The laundry was clean and the machines are modern and easy to use, and the theatre upstairs (there are two) was great for us because it was NBA Playoff time. There were no small dish cloths, but there were sponges. We have a preference for towels, so we just picked up a few and brought them back home with us. Chelan is minutes from the house, and there are grocery stores and a huge Wal-Mart, so shopping wasn't a big deal. This year, we were a two-family group, with four adults and two kids. There was ample room for everyone to be together and to be apart. The pool and grounds were immaculate, and the kids enjoyed running and playing and rolling around in the beautiful side yard. There is plenty of space for riding bicycles, and there's a basketball hoop that was a big hit with our boys. The only "complaint," if it can be called a complaint, is that we could never really regulate the temperature in the basement. It was always very cold. We never asked Joe or Kay for help, but I'm sure they would have taken care of it. We had a couple of questions during our stay, and they were very responsive. They stopped by to introduce themselves and welcome us. It was a nice touch.
Joe and Kay live on the grounds, but it didn't feel like we were sharing space. The property is huge, and we felt that our stay was private. I liked having them close enough to help if we needed them.
Bring beach towels for the pool.
Bring indoor slippers or socks, if you like that sort of thing, because there is a preference for no shoes in the house, which I liked because it made the house feel cleaner.
Be prepared to recycle (cans are clearly marked in the garage).
The neighbor owns a large dog, which was loose once and startled some of us. Kay talked to the neighbor, assured us that the dog was harmless, and we never saw him again."
