  • Peaceful Getaway

"The cottage was perfect for my sister and I and the dogs. There was a small fenced in backyard which was convenient for the dogs. The proprietor was charming and thoughtful, with many nice touches, from snacks in the refrigerator to ironed napkins on the table. Being "in the country" it was also nice and quiet and watching the farm animals was delightful. We look forward to staying here again."

  • Beautiful place

"We really enjoyed the three days that were spent in this place. The outside has a gorgeous view and is super relaxing to sit out there. I don't think you could spend enough time watching the ferries, and seeing the inlet that this suite is located next to. This is certainly recommended."

  • Wonderful and relaxing vacation!

"Our children and grandchildren recently stayed at Peggy's home for a week long vacation on Bainbridge Island. Her home is lovely and has all the amenities that a family needs. The home includes a well stocked kitchen for cooking and a great deck for grilling and eating outdoors. The sunsets and views are absolutely gorgeous. There is a nice beach to explore and several hiking paths close by. Additionally, there are nearby restaurants, pubs, and quaint shops. We even took the ferry to Seattle and then walked to the Safeco Stadium for a ballgame. Our family highly recommends this home!"

  • Something different, in a good way

"We stayed at this Japanese-style bed-and-breakfast ryokan for two nights. It was the perfect start to our trip to the US, and particularly appropriate as the reason for our coming was for my wife to expand her knowledge of Japanese braiding at an international conference in Tacoma. If you like all things Japanese, or just want to experience a traditional Japanese lifestyle without having to travel to Japan then you will enjoy staying here. It was quite straightforward getting to Bainbridge Island from Seatac, although the ferry was quite busy when we arrived at the Ferry Dock in Seattle, so we had to wait 40 minutes for the next ferry. When you arrive at Fuurin-Oka you walk through a small bamboo grove to the house, and in Japanese style remove you shoes at the entrance. I needn't describe the interior of the house as the website shows how it is. We enjoyed sitting and looking at the Japanese garden, which looks as though it was planted decades ago. A highlight is the bathroom, and there are clear instructions about what you need to do. All the accessories, bodywash, shampoo, buckets, etc are genuine Japanese products. We loved it. The futons were very comfortable. Renee provides a wonderful Japanese breakfast in the morning. It was "ooishi". She is clearly an enthusiastic cook, using ingredients from her own garden. There are plenty of places to eat within 10-15 minutes of the house. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and, if you want to experience something out of the ordinary, you will love it too. Given the chance we would return in a heartbeat."
