Recent Bainbridge Island reviews

  • The property is spacious, modern and ideal for a visit to Bainbridge.

"We were able to walk to the restaurants by the waterfront and enjoy the restaurants, even with a late check-in. Walking distance to the ferry and to the main street in Bainbridge with many shops and art galleries. The owner was super friendly and helpful. We were able to use their kayaks and launch right at their backyard. Very private and much larger than it appears in the pictures. We were welcomed with the most amazing fudge, what a nice surprise! We will definitely encourage others to stay here."

  • Peaceful Getaway

"The cottage was perfect for my sister and I and the dogs. There was a small fenced in backyard which was convenient for the dogs. The proprietor was charming and thoughtful, with many nice touches, from snacks in the refrigerator to ironed napkins on the table. Being "in the country" it was also nice and quiet and watching the farm animals was delightful. We look forward to staying here again."

  • Most Excellent Escape!

"We stayed a month here. SO Great! Face: Stella & Len are perfect hosts: considerate, warm, gracious, knowledgeable, interesting, servant-hearted, generous people. They went out of their way to make sure every aspect of our stay was beyond perfect from sharing the bounty of their garden & crab pots, to sharing their love of Bainbridge and all it offers. Place: a world-class view, Seattle sits like a jeweled crown across the Sound. Hedged by greenery. Waves gently, audibly lapping on the shore below lull you into tranquility. Sailboats & ferries drift by. Wonderful walks nearby. Day trips to hike the Olympic Peninsula, Mt Rainier, explore the San Juan Islands, and Seattle weave a varied fabric of wonderful of activities both urban & remote. Space: the apartment is homey, pretty, well designed space, offers everything you can ever imagine needing, clean, quiet, restful, private, romantic. The deck is amazing. Honestly cannot imagine a better experience!"

  • Something different, in a good way

"We stayed at this Japanese-style bed-and-breakfast ryokan for two nights. It was the perfect start to our trip to the US, and particularly appropriate as the reason for our coming was for my wife to expand her knowledge of Japanese braiding at an international conference in Tacoma. If you like all things Japanese, or just want to experience a traditional Japanese lifestyle without having to travel to Japan then you will enjoy staying here. It was quite straightforward getting to Bainbridge Island from Seatac, although the ferry was quite busy when we arrived at the Ferry Dock in Seattle, so we had to wait 40 minutes for the next ferry. When you arrive at Fuurin-Oka you walk through a small bamboo grove to the house, and in Japanese style remove you shoes at the entrance. I needn't describe the interior of the house as the website shows how it is. We enjoyed sitting and looking at the Japanese garden, which looks as though it was planted decades ago. A highlight is the bathroom, and there are clear instructions about what you need to do. All the accessories, bodywash, shampoo, buckets, etc are genuine Japanese products. We loved it. The futons were very comfortable. Renee provides a wonderful Japanese breakfast in the morning. It was "ooishi". She is clearly an enthusiastic cook, using ingredients from her own garden. There are plenty of places to eat within 10-15 minutes of the house. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and, if you want to experience something out of the ordinary, you will love it too. Given the chance we would return in a heartbeat."
