  • Beautiful House on a Beautiful Lake, but Customer Service was Sub-Par

"When my group of 25 teenagers and 5 adults arrived at the property, we were amazed by the beauty of the property. It has the lake in its backyard, with a large fire pit, dock, large back deck, and a grand interior. Aside from the beauty of the property, the rooms were well-furnished and held all of us with ample space. It was obvious it was an attractive property. But there were some cons as well. There were SO MANY bay flies on this property - you could hardly walk outside without swarms of them. The house is also filled with taxidermy, so if you're squeamish I wouldn't suggest this property. We had a vegan on our trip, and she was very disturbed by all the stuffed animals. Also, before our trip it was a little difficult to contact the owner. Granted, there is virtually no service on the property, so our messages may not have gone through. If you are someone who needs to be attached to their phone while you are here, this may not be the property for you. In conclusion, my group had an amazing time. The game room in the basement was a blast, we used the fire pit every night, and we would go back later in the summer so that it's warmer. If you are freaked out by bugs, taxidermy, and no service, search elsewhere. The neighbors are nice, the owner is very accommodating, and the property is stunning."

  • This was our fourth year vacationing at the cottage and we love it.

"Our entire family, parents, adult children, and grandchildren, were at KillKare for a week the end of August. We have been going to the Sturgeon Bay area since 1979 and are so happy we found KillKare four years ago when the place we had stayed before was no longer available. KillKare always feels like home when we arrive, very clean, a big well stocked kitchen, plenty of space for everyone, beautiful beach and fire pit. Love the front room with a large window overlooking the bay, it is a great place to enjoy your morning coffee. At the cottage, we enjoyed playing in the sand and water, fishing from the pier, kayaking, watching awesome sunsets over Potowatomi Park, evening fires with s'mores, bird watching right on the property (eagles, pelicans, kingfisher, a variety of warblers, catbirds, cardinals....) For outings, we had a great breakfast at Kimz, downtown Sturgeon Bay; pizza at the Wild Tomato in Sister Bay was also a favorite of our group; after lunch we hung out at the Sister Bay beach/shoreline/park area--very nice too. Shopping downtown Sturgeon Bay shops is a fun way to spend an afternoon. We would recommend KillKare and plan on coming back next year!"

  • Wonderful family place

"Upon arrival at this property we were overwhelmed at the amount of space for a family of 9 and how beautiful it is. Plenty of comfortable beds and a very nice kitchen. The views are spectacular. The huge stone fireplace with seating was popular with our group as well the pool. Proximity to town was nice. The owners were a pleasure to work with. We are definitely interested in a return trip in the future!!"
