Here is a classic beach cottage that has been lovingly restored and upgraded with all the modern amenities. Totally renovated, inside and out, with virtually everything included, this cottage will create a vacation to remember for years to come. The cottages are beautifully designed, true to the beach cottage style, bright & airy, with tile floors, fully equipped kitchens, crown molding, ceilings fans, and tropically landscaped.
Each cottage comprises of 1 bedroom with a comfy queen bed and en-suite bath, living room with pull-out full size bed, dining table with seating for four, fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer and BBQ.

There are plenty of restaurants, eateries, cafes etc. surrounding the area, and visitors here can easily engage in surfing, swimming, volleyball, walking, running, skating, biking, hiking, etc....there's plenty to here and the list continues....art/food/music festivals, farmer’s markets, grassy parks, beach boutiques, surf contests, or if you would rather just relax on the beach and do nothing, sometimes no activity is the best activity!
Located only minutes from the best San Diego beaches and Sea World. We are 15 - 20 minutes away from Old Town San Diego, Balboa Park, The San Diego Zoo, Downtown & the Gaslamp District, the Embarcadero, the Maritime and the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museums, & Coronado is just a short drive across the San Diego Bay Bridge.

We were a little apprehensive about staying at a rental at first but I'm glad we decided on it. The cottage and the owners were absolutely wonderful and we had such a great time. The cottage was impeccable! It was extremely clean, very well maintained and in a great location. The cottage had everything we needed and more from the washer & dryer to the fully stocked kitchen and even a queen size sofa sleeper in the living room. It was so nice to come back to our cozy cottage after a long day of sightseeing. There's even a grill and seating area outside the cottage to relax and eat dinner. Our 2 year old son loved it here & still talks about Zoro (the owner's dog) and his time in San Diego. We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone who's looking for a clean, comfortable & convenient place to stay. We can't wait to come back again soon! Thanks again to the Michael & Deborah for being such gracious & wonderful hosts!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: T,J, and J, You became family very quickly, as it was a pleasure to host your stay. Hopefully it was the first of many, we'll look forward to you return to San Diego soon. Who knows, maybe we'll just pop over to Honolulu sometime soon, too! Talk soon, thank you for the awesome review! Yours, M+D

The cottage was amazing & it had everything we needed to make our week long stay in San Diego perfect!!! It is a short walk from the bay, which was nice, clean and calm! It was a perfect place for our 1yr old son to experience the ocean for the first time. The location is key, key, key!!! Many of the best local restaurants (breakfast: North Shore cafe, lunch: PB Shore House- best lobster tacos in town!, dinner: World famous) and attractions are only minutes away! There is a Trader Joes & Sprouts close so you can get all your eats to have at the cottage. We enjoyed making dinner on the grill when we got tired of eating out. The kitchen is equipt with everything you need to feel right at home making a meal. We also had the pleasure of bringing our fur child along with us since the cottage is pet friendly! We had such an incrediable time and felt so comfortable that we have already started planning our next trip back. Thank you Michael & Deborah for thinking of every little detail that made our stay such a memorable one! We look forward to coming back!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: Bryan, Amy, your little one+furmeister, please continue your return trip planning, as we'd love to have you back as our guests. You showed lots of respect for our cottage and it was obvious that you all enjoyed hit it hard, when it came to having a blast, making the best of what San Diego and our PB community has to offer. Please let us know when you can come back, we'll leave the grill on for ya'!!!!! Blessings, M+D

What can be said that hasn't been written in the other reviews...Well after staying for a month it is much harder to leave than a week. I would like to see a before photo of the cottages before they were redone..They were amazing and so much nicer than some of PB's older rental homes. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in PB. We are so grateful that the Newlands are pet friendly. Our pets are our family and we could not do a month long vacation without them. We are looking forward to another visit soon. Bob and Laura ArizonaRecommended for: Pet owners.
Owner response: Laura and Bob, Please come back as soon as you can, we loved being hosts to your extended stay. Please let us help you plan a second trip, bring all the B boys with you and it'll be like you never left!!! Blessings, M+D

The greatest beach cottage

This is definitely not your typical beach cottage rental. It has everything--bed, bath and kitchen-wise you could possibly need for any length of stay. It is within walking distance to the beach and bay areas and we even walked to the grocery. One of our favorite spots to relax was right outside the front door. The area has super comfortable chairs and fire-pit/coffee table. I loved the newness of the cottage and how fresh and clean it was. That is very important to me! The decorating was first class with the granite cabinets, tile floors, internet, 2 flat screen T.V.s, fluffy towels and the greatest bedding! The first class kitchen is compact but there is plenty of space to work and cook. Having your personal BBQ grill was great. My young adult son was very comfortable on the sofa that easily converted to a sleeper. I used the washer/dryer and iron while there and of course, the hair-dryer everyday. I didn't have the opportunity to meet Debbie but Michael was so friendly and helpful in many ways. I have stayed at the cottage twice for 5 to 7 days each time and plan on returning as soon as possible. Oh yes...we enjoyed Joe's Crab Shack and Naked Pizza. Trader Joes, Starbucks and Ralph's grocery is not so far away if you aren't carrying a lot of groceries.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: Linda, (and family) Sorry for the late response to your kind note and review. You've also become part of our PB family, you and yours are welcome anytime you can return. Your kindness is refreshing and our chats always leave me feeling part of your family, too. BTW, the cookies you make are stupendous, are they available by mail order before you return to our cottage???? Blessings to you, Skip, and Scotty. M+D

Everything you could want and more! We stayed at the cottage for 2 weeks this holiday season. The location is wonderful- close to beaches and shopping and both the 8 and the 5! The VRBO pictures are accurate. It is well furnished with dishes, glassware, cookware and any appliance you could think of. Plenty of towels and linens too. We liked having our own small place that had a yard and off-street parking. It is not in an apartment building like many rentals here. Thanks to Michael and Debra for a fine vacation! ----------------------------Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, age 55+.
Owner response: K+L, Thank you both so much for the sincere and heartfelt compliments about the cottage you stayed in. In all honesty, my bride gets the credit, everything there for you to enjoy was part of her vision. I'm just sorry that she didn't get a chance to meet you. Thank you again, glad your travels are continued in safety. Blessings, M+D

This cottage was ideally situated in Pacific Beach - very close to the Bay and the Beach with bikes included for cruising around town. We made a daily habit of riding down to the beach for breakfast or fun in the sun. The cottage is even close enough to hit up the Farmer's Market on the weekend and everything I couldn't get there, I stopped in at Ralph's for, (hint: bring a little shoulder cooler bag and you can do all your shopping by bike!) The property was beautifully appointed and very well-maintained with every appliance that I could possibly ask for, (including a crock pot and coffee grinder!), which was very unexpected in a rental unit. I literally found everything that I could want in the cottage and I think it actually has more kitchen gear than my own house... We had great meals of fresh grilled sweet corn and filets and stuffed eggplant another night from the Farmer's Market. We loved the little fire table out front and played games enjoying the fire and fresh air. While we didn't bring Henri (my standard poodle) this time, it was nice to know that we had the option. Michael and Deborah were consistently pleasant, organized and thorough in answering any and all questions. I absolutely recommend the property and would happily refer friends and family to any of their rental locations.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: Sara, forgive me for the real late response, we'll have a BBQ when you come back again-make it soon, ok!!! We'd love to have you!!!! Blessings, M+D

This was the perfect location for a relaxing stay after a flydrive from the UK to San Francisco and down to San Diego. The cottage was wonderfully comfortable and in an ideal spot for the beach and to access the major routes. My children aged 11 and 8 absolutely loved everything about it, and as previously reviewed it was spotless and had all that you could possibly need including maps and bicycles. Our next trip could well be a direct flight to San Diego and straight to the cottage! We are so pleased to have found in on the internet. Thanks again The Coles family, Peterborough, UKRecommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities.
Owner response: Lesley, Bob, and kids, we just loved having you as our guests and hope you can come on your next holiday. Please let us know how we can best ne of service. We've expanded our facilities to provide even better accomodations, please let us know when you can return-hopefully soon! Blessings, Michael and Deborah

It's just unbelievable to hear a 5 years old describing the place she stayed to the family and friends after we spent a whole week in the well prep, cozy, and home felt like cottage. Thanks to both Michael and Deborah for every little details you put together to make our vacation unforgettable.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

My sister, daughter and I just returned from the best vacation we've ever had. It was the perfect spot for a girl's getaway and being so close to the beach was such a nice plus. The other reviews were exactly what they said; it was an exceptionally clean cottage with everything you would need supplied. The pictures shown are accurately reflected but actually better in person. The cottage is such a cute, warm place to kick back and relax. The only regret we had was that our visit was much too short and I hope we can come back for a longer stay next time! Thank you so much for making our vacation so memorable.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities.
Owner response: Carmen and Family, We are sorry that you couldn't stay any longer, either, that just means you'll have to come back soon and stay longer! Thank you for the kind words, glad you had safe travels home. Your refundable deposit was sent back to you, in the mail, last evening. Blessings, Michael and Deborah

Michael and Deborah have done a wonderful job with these cottages. We wanted for nothing during our 10 day stay (except more time). Pacific Beach, Mission Bay and many attractions are within an easy walk of the front door. We took advantage of the available bicycles and enjoyed a nice day out riding along the Bay and Beachfront. We will definitely be back.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: D+G, Here I am responding to your last review and you are here now, again, for your 2nd annual, how cool is that. I guess I had no idea that I needed to respond, but by the looks of it, you are enjoying your stay this time, too!!!! Yours, Michael and Deborah
