Deep in the heart of Texas, this was the art studio for famed TX landscape artist, C. P. Montague and was designed around centuries old live oak trees. It is constructed of river rock picked up at the river on the property.
Georgetown is only a 10 minute drive away and you can stroll around one of the most beautiful town squares in Texas, eat in one of the many fine restaurants we have been blessed with, or attend one of the many festivals held on the square throughout the year.
Pick up a brochure from the Visitor's Center on the square and go on a self-guided walking tour of the historic home and business section of Georgetown and see many beautifully restored Victorian homes and read the stories behind them.

About the owner: Owners are the family of renowned Texas landscape artist C.P. Montague. The Studio has been lovingly restored to preserve her legacy. See the rock ledge by the front door with the black lettered sign for The Palette Pad, the artist's name for her work area.
We also live on the farm, about 1/3 mile down the country lane. We have raised our family here, and our grandchildren have been raised on the farm. We absolutely love it and feel blessed to have had the opportunity to enjoy this piece of earth. We look forward to sharing it with our guests.
Why the Owner Chose Georgetown: Dan has retired and I am seriously thinking about retirement. We own a small business providing required continuting education for insurance agents in TX. It is basically a business I can run by telephone and the post office, so it is great to office at home. I am also still involved with an insurance company and do company training for them, so that does involve some occasional travel. Luckily my son and his family also live on the farm so they are able to care for and watch out for things when we are gone.
I grew up on a farm in Rockdale TX and could not wait to get away from the farm when I graduated. Dan was raised in town.
When my parents offered all of their children a home spot on the farm, Dan and I were the only ones that took them up on it. By then, I couldn't wait to get out of Austin and back to a farm!
Dan's Mom was concerned about him living in the country, as he never had, but he has become a true country boy.
David is his right-hand man and they enjoy doing farm chores together. The past couple of years have really been interesting.
In April, 2009 a tornado literally blew away our 'new' 72' barn. They spent the next year building another barn - this time a red barn, which I had always wanted.
September, 2010 we had a major flood which wiped out 1/2 mile fence along the river and washed up mountains of debris against trees in the bottom. We have bulldozed, planted grass and Dan and David are have almost finished putting in 1/2 mile of pipe fence.
Last year we had chickens but our neighbors dog killed them all for sport. Since then, I got a Great Pyreneese pup and he will guard the next batch of chickens we get. A friend called and has some baby chicks to give away, and I think we will take them. We'll have to make sure Jack knows to guard and not chase them!
Jack may greet you when you arrive at the farm. He is friendly and loves people and looks like a fuzzy white bear.
