About the owner: We are a professional couple with a passion for frequent international travel and enjoy staying at interesting places in the world. We are fond of dogs, horses and sailing and often travel with our canine companion. We love to entertain and celebrate with close friends and families.
Why the Owner Chose Southold:
Buying and restoring this house meant owning a piece of Long Island's American history, owning a place to unwind in a comfortable and cozy setting to celebrate summer, and the fall- and winter-holidays.
The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House:
For many years, this has been our alternate place to the workplace and appartment in NYC. - In summer it is an ideal refuge at the salt-water with bay-conditions suitable for at-the-water and watersports, sound-conditions suitable for refreshing beach activities or boating.
So, one of our favorite things to do out here is to walk or bike to Cedar Beach and take a beach walk: South West against the wind, and returning with the wind in the back.
At the same time, it gave us a place to live out our love for restoration discoveries and restoration work (all of 20 years by now!), and not in the least it is also a place to highlight our collection of colonial and 19th century American antiques in a natural setting.
