- Nearby Bass Lake is a popular fishing and power sports destination with numerous docks renting everything to make your lake experience enjoyable. We've had memorable family times renting the large pontoon boat, filling a cooler with all our favorites, and grilling on the on-board BBQ out on the lake. Oakhurst is home to a number of golf courses, motorcycle and hiking trails, horseback riding and Yosemite mountain sugar pine railroad. Yosemite National Park is at your beck and call every season of the year~ Springtime means gushing waterfalls and mountain wildflowers. Summer is a beautiful time to explore hiking trails, horseback riding and rock climbing. A must see are the big trees at Mariposa Grove just inside the park. This is a highlight for many of our guest! Fall brings a glorious display of colors and continued warm days. Winter is known for breathtaking snowy views and wouldn’t be complete without visiting the outdoor ice skating rinks or skiing at Badger Pass....moreless

This is a charming property! It's in a beautiful setting and only 1 hour's drive from Yosemite valley--even closer to other parts of the park near the south entrance. The cottage seems brand new: very clean, beautifully decorated, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped. We day-tripped into Yosemite each day, but would have enjoyed just relaxing at the cottage and its beautiful setting if we had more time. The cottage has a huge deck and gas grill off the back. The front porch also has comfortable chairs, so you can enjoy the mountain air. The beds are very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. The owners, Donald and Cassie, made sure we had everything we needed and are some of the friendliest folks we've met in our travels. I don't think you'd be disappointed in choosing this property. We'd be happy to return.

My family had a lovely time at the Cedar View Cottage, which was even more beautiful than the pictures. The owners, Don and Cassie, were very helpful and welcoming. They brought home made granola, treats for the kids, and had stocked the refrigerator with water (a welcome amenity after a long drive). The cottage itself was amazing. It was clean and elegantly furnished. The beds were comparable to those in the finest of hotels. The kitchen and pantry were stocked with plenty of supplies. Time was spent on the spacious deck just watching the stars come out at night. It was one of the best vacations we have had in a long time.

Great Place for Yosemite Vacation!!
Great Place for Yosemite Vacation!!
Some people have vacation rentals just to make extra money, it's obvious that Cassie (and Don) has the gift of hospitality and does this for the love of people. We instantly felt very welcomed to the home, with our name on the chalkboard by the door, fresh cut flowers, and a warm greeting from the owners. The home is beautiful inside and out, very modern, and cozy. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are comfortable, and everything you need has already been provided. We had a great time with our three boys playing board games on the huge deck. Oakhurst is a charming small town with everything you need including: great family friendly restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, and one scrumptious doughnut shop! You cannot find a closer stay for your Yosemite National Park vacation. We had a great time at Yosemite and would definitely recommend this home for your next vacation.

My stay in this quaint cottage was absolutely wonderful. The owners were welcoming, accommodating and pleasant, yet still maintained a total sense of privacy with us. The cottage turned out to be exactly what I was hoping for and even better! It was so clean, modern (yet still completely charming), warm, quiet and comfortable. There is no way you could go wrong with staying here. My husband and I looked at all hotels/motels in Oakhurst, and let me tell you that this cottage is BY FAR the best bang for your buck. We look forward to staying here in the future!

The cottage looks far more better than the pictures. It was new moon during our stay and the milky way was visible and even the dark horse in it. The views were also astonishing. I will surely visit there a second time if I have a chance.

Beautiful cottage---perfect for visiting Yosemite. House was very clean and comfortable and was supplied with every possible need including wi-fi. There is a great deck out back which we enjoyed in the evenings. The owners live next door and were very friendly and easy to work with. Would highly recommend!

Cozy immaculate cottage

This rental was better than described! The owners (Cassie and Don) went out of their way to make this rental inviting and welcoming, with lots of extra touches for those eager to see the sights at the start of their day or tired families at the end of a busy day. For instance, when we arrived, there were fresh flowers in the kitchen, energy bars, and small shampoo/conditioner bottles in the bathroom. Mid week, a vase of fresh cut flowers appeared on the table on the back deck. Everything was spotless and in new condition. The only negative about the cottage was the lack of a dishwasher. After being on the trails all day, it would have been a welcome convenience. Cassie and Don couldn't have been more gracious, helpful, or responsive, both before we arrived and during our stay. Don’t be concerned about them living right next door, they are available but respect your privacy. They are very knowledgeable about the area. We spent most of our time in Yosemite. The south entrance (near the Mariposa Grove) was less than 30 minutes from the cottage but keep in mind the main Yosemite Valley is another 45-60 minutes through the park. However, while the road was direct, it was winding with few opportunities to pass slower moving RVs unless they chose to pull aside on the pull outs. Also, allow yourself extra time to get where you are going during the high tourist months as a single slow vehicle can hold up an almost infinite number of cars. For those considering going off peak season, don’t plan on horseback riding or whitewater rafting. Horseback riding does not begin until after Memorial Day and whitewater rafting is completely dependent upon temperature and snowpack levels. A special gem right down the road from Cedar View Cottage was the Nelder Grove of Sequoias in the Sierra National Forest -- no more than 10-15 minutes from the cottage, and no one was there, just us and one jogger. Well marked trail with lots of information about the giant sequoias. Late April was a perfect time to visit. We had glorious weather and Yosemite was not crowded at all. We are an active family and hiked Vernal and Nevada Falls one day, and did the Upper Yosemite Falls Trail another day. It was too early in the season for Half Dome (cables not up yet, still a lot of snow at elevation). Also, Glacier Point and the Panoramic Trail was still closed. We would certainly stay at Cedar View Cottage again. It was perfect for our family of 4!

Gorgeous and Elegant Cottage
Gorgeous and Elegant Cottage
My family really enjoyed our stay at Cedar Cottage during our Spring break getaway. The cottage is very new, elegantly decorated, and the owners provided us with everything that we need for our stay. They even brought us newspaper, fresh cut flowers and popcorn. We love to use the backyard deck and brand new BBW. Another thing that we like is the location as it is very close to South Entrance to Yosemite and nearby Bass lake. We would highly recommend this Cottage to everyone. We are looking forward to our next trip to Yosemite and get a chance to stay here again

About the owner: Greetings, we're Don and Cassie, your hosts for your stay at Cedar View Cottage. We moved to Oakhurst in 1999 and it wasn't long before we called it home. The friendly town and beautiful scenery make this location an ideal place to raise our 8 children.
Why the Owner Chose Oakhurst:
The Cottage is a special place to us. Our oldest son is a contractor who built this home for his first few years of marriage. When they moved away we found we had an adorable little cottage to offer to others visiting the area.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We live in the house adjacent to Cedar View Cottage and are here to help make your stay more enjoyable. We both work at home where Donald is an engineering consultant and Cassie is a mom and birth assistant. We have had many years of welcoming guests into our home and find hospitality very rewarding.
