This rental was better than described! The owners (Cassie and Don) went out of their way to make this rental inviting and welcoming, with lots of extra touches for those eager to see the sights at the start of their day or tired families at the end of a busy day. For instance, when we arrived, there were fresh flowers in the kitchen, energy bars, and small shampoo/conditioner bottles in the bathroom. Mid week, a vase of fresh cut flowers appeared on the table on the back deck. Everything was spotless and in new condition. The only negative about the cottage was the lack of a dishwasher. After being on the trails all day, it would have been a welcome convenience. Cassie and Don couldn't have been more gracious, helpful, or responsive, both before we arrived and during our stay. Don’t be concerned about them living right next door, they are available but respect your privacy. They are very knowledgeable about the area. We spent most of our time in Yosemite. The south entrance (near the Mariposa Grove) was less than 30 minutes from the cottage but keep in mind the main Yosemite Valley is another 45-60 minutes through the park. However, while the road was direct, it was winding with few opportunities to pass slower moving RVs unless they chose to pull aside on the pull outs. Also, allow yourself extra time to get where you are going during the high tourist months as a single slow vehicle can hold up an almost infinite number of cars. For those considering going off peak season, don’t plan on horseback riding or whitewater rafting. Horseback riding does not begin until after Memorial Day and whitewater rafting is completely dependent upon temperature and snowpack levels. A special gem right down the road from Cedar View Cottage was the Nelder Grove of Sequoias in the Sierra National Forest -- no more than 10-15 minutes from the cottage, and no one was there, just us and one jogger. Well marked trail with lots of information about the giant sequoias. Late April was a perfect time to visit. We had glorious weather and Yosemite was not crowded at all. We are an active family and hiked Vernal and Nevada Falls one day, and did the Upper Yosemite Falls Trail another day. It was too early in the season for Half Dome (cables not up yet, still a lot of snow at elevation). Also, Glacier Point and the Panoramic Trail was still closed. We would certainly stay at Cedar View Cottage again. It was perfect for our family of 4!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My family really enjoyed our stay at Cedar Cottage during our Spring break getaway. The cottage is very new, elegantly decorated, and the owners provided us with everything that we need for our stay. They even brought us newspaper, fresh cut flowers and popcorn. We love to use the backyard deck and brand new BBW. Another thing that we like is the location as it is very close to South Entrance to Yosemite and nearby Bass lake. We would highly recommend this Cottage to everyone. We are looking forward to our next trip to Yosemite and get a chance to stay here againRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: Greetings, we're Don and Cassie, your hosts for your stay at Cedar View Cottage. We moved to Oakhurst in 1999 and it wasn't long before we called it home. The friendly town and beautiful scenery make this location an ideal place to raise our 8 children.
Why the Owner Chose Oakhurst:
The Cottage is a special place to us. Our oldest son is a contractor who built this home for his first few years of marriage. When they moved away we found we had an adorable little cottage to offer to others visiting the area.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We live in the house adjacent to Cedar View Cottage and are here to help make your stay more enjoyable. We both work at home where Donald is an engineering consultant and Cassie is a mom and birth assistant. We have had many years of welcoming guests into our home and find hospitality very rewarding.
