Owner info

Year Purchased: 2013

About the owner: Ed and Susan Giroux live in Clifton Park New York. They have traveled to the mountain region of Lake Placid and Jay for vacation many times for hiking and kayaking. Unfortunately, each visit was always cut short due to their busy work schedules. In 2013 Ed retired and Sue dropped down to part time work. Now they could finally relax and spend some time in one of their favorite places in the world. The chalet was just the right vacation house for them. Large enough to accommodate a few friends or family for an over night stay and yet small enough so that it's cozy and affordable. They are currently working hard to make the place more attractive and add their personal touches. They look forward to sharing their home with others who might also appreciate it.

Why the Owner Chose Wilmington:
Lake Placid and Saranac Lake are great places to visit, do some shopping and enjoy a lunch or dinner. However, after a few hours of the noise, and the smell of the car exhausts, it's nice to retreat back to the quiet forest and seek some refuge from all of this. This is why you come to the Adirondacks and this is why you come to our chalet in Ausable Acres. A quiet refuge from the noise and the crowds. Located less than 20 minutes from Lake Placid, 25 minutes from Keene, and right around the corner from great trout fishing in the AuSable river. There's a small pond just down the road, Fern lake is about 20 minutes away, and Whiteface mountain about 10 minutes away. There's plenty to do with many attractions nearby but at the end of the day a quiet, peaceful place to relax.

The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
The great room is what makes this house what it is. When you sit in the great room you have the cathedral ceiling above you, the fireplace in front, and a wall of glass to your side where you look out to the deck and the forest below. There's a wonderful sense of openness and yet it's quite cozy. The wraparound deck is about 50 feet by 12 and it creates the feeling of a giant patio and extends the size of the house and recreational area.
