  • 60th Birthday Celebration

"The Habaru House was fantastic. It was clean and very comfortable. The only disappointment about the trip were the mosquitos and the water in the front of the house. Because of the rains, the mosquitos were numerous and the water in front of the house was murky and not made for swimming. Anthony and Gilbert were extremely helpful and accommodating. Lots of adventures and vacationing outside the box."

  • great place to relax and unwind

"Paul and Karen's place is a comfortable, lovely, welcoming home. It's a great place to sling a hammock in the shade of the palms and fall asleep to the sound of the waves. We were not quite prepared for the grocery stores (ah, how I missed Wegmans), so packing snacks as others suggested is a good idea. Try freezing the fresh coconut water in ice cube trays and dropping them into mixed drinks or cola - yum! There are a number of good places to eat nearby (the Curve Bar at the Marina) and in town (Innies) and if you can catch some Garifuna drumming, it's well worth it; be sure to get up and dance! So is the Mayan Chocolate "factory" in nearby Maya Center - now that's what chocolate should taste like."

  • Restful Respite in a beautiful location

"My sister and I went to Belize to deal with our fathers estate. We were received with thoughtful attention and assistance to do what we needed to do at a time when we were grieving and tired. Our room had sweeping views of the ocean. Not once did we feel unsafe night or day. Paulette from Luba's just next door fed us coconut rice and chicken smothered with sweet salsa, just a door down in the beach. Breakfast at Luba's was french toast or Belizean style jack and eggs. There is a general store within walking distance and the highway to Hopkins is easy to drive on rentals at Hopkins auto rental and they bring you an SUV to the airport. A five star experience on a three str budget !"

  • Beautiful Resort!

"My husband and I visited Hopkins and stayed at Sarkiki Reef with 3 other couples. The eaccommodations are well designed, spacious, comfortable, clean and have amazing views from the decks. We loved the pool which is salt based and a lovely beach with a safe, shallow shore line. The people of Belize and Hopkins in particular are friendly and unlike larger resorts where you are closed off from the local community we felt like part of the community. Linda & Mike (and Cam) offer invaluable advice as to where to eat and who to connect with for various excursions. Manuel who works at Sarkiki is happy to be a guide on his days off and his brother Epi and the rest of the staff are friendly and helpful. If you are needing to watch a sporting event then Sittee River Marina which is near by is a great place to go with good food and cheep beer. It's also where we left from to go snorkelling with Patrick. I'm glad we spent 2 weeks because it always takes a few days to get the lay of the land when it's a first visit to a foreign place. We would recommend renting a car (we used Crystal Car Rentals) and though the highways are pretty good be prepared for rough roads (and mud if it rains) around the smaller towns. We would highly recommend the tubing in the caves (at Blue Hole) with the group that Cameron at Sarkiki set us up with - I was a little concerned with the idea of being in a cave, but I didn't have a problem at all :) We also loved Chef Rob's and Love on the Rocks restaurants (same owners for both) and when our Dutch cousins discovered they served dutch croquets (limited clientele) well we had to go and we devoured them :) All in all we would highly recommend Sarkiki - Mike and Linday and staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable and worry free. Thanks to everyone there!"
