  • Perfect place for a large family or two couples

"We stayed for 9 nights. We were 2 couples. This is a gated, 24 hours security gate/guard community with excellent amenities: Its own snorkel area with shark screen and its own large marina !! hot tubs, salt/fresh water pools, tennis courts, amenities hall with ample books, ping-pong tables and enough room to sit and even its own convenience store and a pub/restaurant within the property. Ample kitchen items. We did need to stock up on toilet paper, paper napkins, shampoo and laundry detergent. There is no Internet connectivity inside the home, but the amenities hall (open till 11pm) has free WiFi and wired connection. There is nice back patio with new patio furniture. The walk in the cool evening breeze looking across to the ocean was nice. The community is right on the water and you can see the expanse of the waters sitting near the snorkel area. Also we saw some people fishing right off the walkway at the marina. Wish we had kayaks. But we had dives scheduled with the DiveInnnerspace folks and we absolutely recommend them for diving at the Looe Key. They are a small operation (no more than 6 divers on the boat) and the service is fantastic. We also drove to Key West (30 minutes drive one way accounting for slow Key West city streets) for day trip to the "Dry Tortugas" The "The Wharf" and the "Square grouper" are the closest mid-upper range restaurants we tried. The square grouper is the best food we had during our entire trip. The wharf is second. Wharf also remains open on more days and longer. We just did not have the time to explore the snorkel area, but based on what we have seen in the keys, I am sure it is has things to offer, especially if you have little ones or kids and you can teach them to snorkel or just frolic in the real ocean water in safe quiet environment. Overall very good stay."

  • A Gem

"This is a beautiful place to take time to enjoy life. The cottage is so sweet, clean, artistic, thoughtful in every way. Bight and cheerful, I would recommend this cottage to anyone. The staff is excellent in this community and I loved seeing all the license plates from Michigan, Canada and even Alaska. The kitchen has everything you would ever need. The windows give a special charm, completely open yet, private with blinds and curtains. Everything feels new, fresh and clean."

  • We made it and what a VACATION!!

"It was worth the 1200+ mile drive! Got off to a rocky start as there was a tad bit of a problem with the realator/manager and it was truly an April Fool's start. Friends from Phoenix joined us for a week and our daughter came down the last week, stayed and helped drive back. The house is sooo cozy. Weather could not have been more perfect. Got a lot of sun time as well as swimming, snorkeling and kayaking. Followed the yard sale map on Fridays in the "Citizen" and traveled from Big Pine thru Key West. Our dog picked up a new habit - chasking Iguanas!! He even swam the canal after one on the dock across from us! Diane & Penny next door were delightful as were the couple on the other side who own the deli! We hope to be back but if we can't make it and you're in Happy House - ENJOY!!"

  • Very cute home

"My husband and I stayed here with our two teenagers. When we first walked into the home the A/C was off and it was 93 degrees. We turned it on, but it took hours for it to cool down. We ended going to out a restaurant because we couldn't stay in there it was so HOT. The ceiling fan in the master bedroom was broke. The toilet in the mater bathroom was broke and ran all weekend we were there. We called the rental company and they did come out and give us a floor fan, but could not fix anything while we were there, said it would have to wait until Monday. The Venture Out community was very nice and clean and the kids loved going to the pool. The marina store was very convenient. It was nice coming back to the house which was very homey instead of a hotel after a long day out. Key West is not that long of a drive which we did one day. There are a few restaurants close by with good atmosphere and service. All in all I would recommend this place. It was decorated very nice. The gated community was also nice."
