  • Perfection!

"This was the perfect house for all of us. Nothing was missed. Close proximity to the ocean and the sweet little beach right out in front was a big plus. We also very much appreciated the way the home is laid out, affording all of us both personal space and nice gathering place. The two things that I wanted to let you know which were greatly greatly appreciated was the fact that the house had everything you needed, but it wasn’t intrusive like someone was living there and moved out for the week while we occupied it. Everything was in perfect order and so clean. I like the fact that the drawers were so neatly stocked and that the refrigerator was clean without guest's leftovers. In other words, I loved the fact that it looked like no one was there before we were. I hope to rent again next year. It was the first house in two years that I loved (I have been traveling a lot so it’s a huge complement). Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for my family. Thank you again."

  • Loved the Quiet, Beautiful Location!

"Absolutely loved this darling, CLEAN beach house! We are a family of 4 (two boys ages 11 & 14). Fantastic snorkeling right outside the door, especially if you're brave enough to go out to the drop off and beyond. So many turtles and just the most peaceful, relaxing, and quiet place to be. Explore the end of the street; there is a nice park area--a good place to walk and explore. Beautiful, safe, quiet street! Be sure to shop at Island Gourmet Market in Queen's MarketPlace. It's a bit further but WAY nicer and was actually less expensive than Foodland. Has souvenirs and tshirts, too. Be forewarned: tsunami alert sirens are directly across the street! The siren went off (test I guess?) and nearly scared us to death. We were snorkeling and I think we broke some swim records getting back to shore. It does not alert you to the fact that it was a test. I had to go online to confirm. Also, you should know that the cleaning lady comes in to use the washing machine for the small cottage next door. That, too, scared me a bit when I heard someone in there. Recommendations of FANTASTIC things to do: Umauma Ziplines. It was fantastic! The same day we hired Erik from Volcano Discovery (to show and teach us about the volcanoes and the park. He is incredibly knowledgeable. He gave us access to places the public isn't allowed. He even brings local exotic fruits (star fruit, passion fruit, WHITE pineapple) and several varieties of local macadamia nuts, potato chips, cookies, and juices. Loved them all! The tour ends with a great view of the glowing lava. Amazing! We did ziplines at 11:00am, stopped for a super quick glimpse of Akaka waterfall , grabbed lunch at Cronies in Hilo and pulled up at 3:29 for our 3:30 appointment with Erik. His tour was 4+ hours but went by too quickly. The drive back was a little scary (raining and dark) because we were tired. It's over 2 hours to the Volcano Park so we chose not to do it twice. Maybe ideally spend a night there to see the sights in Hilo for one full day? Another awesome adventure was with My Kona Adventures (Nick and Captain Will). $70 per person cash compared to 100+ for the larger operations). They took just the four of us on a small boat to view the manta rays at night. You do NOT need a wetsuit like some advertise. The water is 80+ degrees!!! Super friendly guys. Dahana Ranch has great horseback riding. Stop at The Fish & The Hog along the way for lunch. Wow! great food!!! Highly recommend!"

"I walked into this home, and my jaw dropped--the same for all four members of my group. The pictures simply do not do it justice. The ocean is EVERYWHERE; it is mesmerizing. In over two decades of visiting Hawaii, and more than double that number of rentals, THIS home is now my absolute favorite--and I've stayed in everything from the Four Seasons Hualalai to the magical tidepool front homes in Kapoho. It is a beautiful old gracious Hawaiian home and its charm was not lost in a thoughtful remodel. The kitchen, with its original cabinets, was more functional and easier to use than any of the high-end modern units I have stayed in. All the furniture is beautiful, but not so fussy or new that we were afraid to put a glass down; the whole house has a cozy, lived-in feeling. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms spotless (kudos to Robin, the wonderful housekeeper!). There is a large TV, but we never once turned it on. We spent most of our time on the deck or walking the beach in front of the house. Turtles were sunning themselves everywhere! We counted a group of 11 clustered together one morning. The house is built so that the ocean breezes can blow through and we didn't even need fans at night. But if you must have air conditioning, there is one bedroom in an addition at the back of the house where the AC works spectacularly. I am already planning a trip back in 2015, hoping that the home will be available. There are so many people with whom I want to share this amazing place. The rental agent has told me the owners are remodeling it again. I sincerely hope that they don't do too much. This house is perfect as it is."

  • Completely Special As Advertised !

"The house design and furnishings are tasteful and comfortable. You're immediately drawn in with it's open Hawaiian themed decor and incredible front exposure to Puako Bay. The views and proximity to all kinds of real vacation recreation can not be beat. My only hesitation in absolutely raving about this place is being able to book it again in the future. It's a real gem!"
