"Great place with lots of space and a short walk to soaring eagle lift. The owners are easy to work with and are very accommodating. We've stayed here a couple times and will be back."

  • Love the river!

"The house was great! We had a plenty of room for a party of 5 adults and 3 children. Thank you for providing such a fairly priced, family friendly, vacation home."

  • Perfect vacation

"My friend and I take an annual trip to Barbour County WV to archery hunt whitetail deer. We have made this trip since 1999 and typically stay at a hotel in Philippi. As most travelers know living in a small hotel room for more than a few days can be difficult. Add to fact we had to stow away all our hunting equipment and go out for dinner every meal made the hotel very difficult to stay in. A friend told me about VRBO and said I could find a place anywhere in the country. I was shocked to find this incredible property and immediately emailed the owners. I learned the property was within four miles of our hunting land. I booked the house instantly. The house is amazing, the land is beautiful, the kitchen was incredible. To have an entire home to spread out in and areas to store our equipment was amazing. We already rebooked for next November. The only caution I would give is if you are there in the winter make sure you have a high quality 4WD vehicle to get up and down the driveway in case of snow."

  • Perfect Girls' Retreat

"We had eleven women from five states at Elk Branch Lodge for an annual retreat and had a fantastic time. The cabin was deceptively spacious and there was plenty of room for us to spread out to do our own things, while still providing space for us to all be together at once. The location was great -- very secluded yet close enough to town to go get things we forgot to bring. We enjoyed hiking, visiting the horses and pony, going down to the lake, climbing rocks, and spending cold nights in the toasty hot tub. And some of us stayed in pajamas and didn't leave the cabin all weekend, which was also great! Larry was wonderful, having the fireplace and stoves blazing for us when we arrived and showing us how to keep them going all weekend (we stayed very warm!). He was easily accessible if we needed anything. Everything about the rental was smooth and easy, and we definitely want to come back!"
