A secret gem! High Hopes is a Grade II listed sailors loft on one of the oldest streets in Brixham with a unique outdoor space and stunning harbour views.

This 2 bed / 2 bathroom property places you in the heart of the town with views of the inner harbour that stretch right round to the Breakwater and the colour washed cottages beyond.

Enjoy the privacy and seclusion within the fully enclosed garden, or take the very short walk into town to further explore.

This 2 bed, 2 bathroom property is arranged over two levels. Having undergone a refurbishment both inside and outside in November 2019, High Hopes now offers all the modern comforts we know our guests love.

The bay window of the open plan lounge and kitchen/diner draws you in with waterside views of the Golden Hind so close you can almost reach out and touch the boats. You will feel like you have your own box at the theatre as you look out and enjoy the sounds of Brixham Town Band playing under the Old Fish Market in summer evenings, smell the gunpowder as the pirates re-enact a skirmish on board the Golden Hind during Pirates weekend and stay warm whilst watching the beautiful fireworks at Lantern Lights and 'Luminations.  

When the fresh sea air and morning sun beckons, watch the goings on in 'Fishtown' from the garden which enjoys a feeling of seclusion. Brixham’s harbour and town centre is within very short walking distance and you will find the heritage site of Berry Head National Nature Reserve via the South West Coast Path, and ferry boats that take passengers the short journey across the bay to Torquay throughout the year. So park up the car and explore. For cosy days in you will find an HD TV complete with Freeview, BBC iPlayer and Netflix to keep all generations happy. There’s even a collection of books, games and jigsaws for those evenings that are about unwinding. 

After a day exploring the local delights and filling your lungs full of fresh sea air, the open plan lounge and kitchen/diner provides a great social space whether travelling as a family or with friends.

​Access:
Higher Street is very narrow and it is not possible to drive down the lane as far as where the gate to access the property is. It is possible to drive to within about 75 yards of the property where you can then unload on arrival before then parking up.

There is no parking on Higher Street but free on street parking is available on neighbouring residential roads or alternatively Saltwater Escapes can arrange a parking permit for your stay which covers you for over 30 car parks in the area. Charges apply.

There are 20 steps that lead from the gate down to the entrance door of the property therefore High Hopes would not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties or unsupervised children.  Please contact us with any questions regarding access.

- Check-In 3pm. Check-Out 10am.
- Pets: A charge of £35 per pet will be invoiced separately before your stay.
- Access: Please note due to the setting of High Hopes in the harbour basin area of Brixham, the property is accessed via steep stone steps and may not be suitable for those with mobility problems.
- No smoking or vaping permitted
- This property includes a small welcome/starter pack to help you on your first day of arrival. This consists of 2 toilet rolls, washing up liquid, 2 dishwasher tablets (if applicable), a washing up cloth, sponge & tea towel and tea, coffee & milk sachets. Cupboard staples and any other extras are not as standard therefore we recommend ensuring you have your own supplies of anything else required.

Great location but beware the stairs!
We really enjoyed our stay - the location is great & the property well presented. The steps leading to the property are very steep and narrow, not the easiest to navigate, particularly when wet (and if you're elderly). The description of the property does allude to problems for people with mobility issues but it's not a particularly prominent message - it would have been helpful if there had been greater emphasis on this. The instructions for handling rubbish are also a bit confusing with the on-line instructions contradicting the printed instructions in the property. So, two small issues to consider - everything else was lovely!

​Saltwater Escapes was started by husband and wife team Jamie and Kate. Born and raised in Brixham, Jamie spent his childhood on the local beaches and enjoyed the many outdoor pursuits Devon offers .  Kate's early childhood years were also spent by the sea in North Berwick, Scotland. Later moving to rural Berkshire, Kate enjoyed much freedom outdoors in the surrounding countryside. They have subsequently had two children of their own and hope to instil in them the same love for the outdoors, a sense of adventure, and the importance of quality time together. 

​Regularly taking their children back down to Devon, their treasured escapes from their busy pace of life and enjoying old fashioned fun have become a family tradition.
