Great place to stay in Normandy

The house was comfortable, well-maintained and in a great location. Jean-Luc and Astrid were responsive to every request. We throughly enjoyed our visit.

Loved the little house. We were surprised at its clean lines and great kitchen- all was new. As others have mentioned it is up a steep hill from the center of town but sometimes we just drove down for dinners out! The view of the outer harbor was great, with short walk to a viewpoint. The washing machine was one of those old French machines, but did the job. There were drying racks for drying clothes. I’d love to stay there again. And Port en Bessin is a wonderful little town. Great mussels. My husband thought the fish stew at the Marina Hotel was one of the best thing he had eaten in years?

Great property and location

We had a fantastic week here. Location is everything and this didn’t disappoint. Right on a lovely cycle track to Omaha beach (which was beautiful) and right next to the town with a great fishing bustle, lots of restaurants and some souvenir shops. A great centre to explore the history of the area as well as be active.

Lovely cottage

Lovely cottage on top of the hill. The village is situated between the D-Day landing beaches. We rented towels and bedding, which was great. The cottage was well equiped. It was lovely.

We spent a wonderful week at Maison Le Refuge Portais as a family of four. The location is truly special - set next to the old lighthouse, quiet and elevated, with stunning views over the town, the harbor, and out to the sea, yet only a short walk from the center of Port-en-Bessin. The house had everything we needed, including a garden and a large terrace, with plenty of space for everyone. While not everything inside was brand new, it was all well maintained and perfectly usable.The house also proved to be a great base for exploring Normandy: Port-en-Bessin itself offers restaurants, small shops, and a large fish market; Bayeux and Omaha Beach are just around the corner; and destinations such as Cherbourg and Giverny make for excellent day trips. All in all, it was a perfect holiday week for us!

Sehr schönes sauberes Haus, voll ausgestattet, gemütlich und bequem. Jean-Luc (Eigentümer) und Astrid (Verwalterin) sind ausserordentlich freundlich und hilfsbereit, es fehlte an nichts.Wer mit einem grossen Auto anreist, muss die Grundstueckseinfahrt umsichtig navigieren und das elektrische Tor entwickelt zuweilen ein Eigenleben.Es war ein hervorragend schöner Urlaub und wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Wir kommen wieder!!!

Schönes gepflegtes Haus in toller Lage mit fast unendlichen Möglichkeiten!!! Schöne praktische Einrichtung im Haus mit allem da was nötig ist! Nette Betreuung vor Ort die immer ansprechbar ist… So soll ein Urlaub sein!!!

Das ideale Haus für eine 4-köpfige Familie mit Teenagern

Herzlicher Empfang in einem maritimen Ambiente. Wir haben die Möglichkeit genutzt Bettwäsche und Handtücher zu mieten. Älteres Haus auf schön eingewachsenem Grundstück mit großer Terasse und rundum Sichtschutz. Großes Angebot an Restaurants und Geschäften, die gut zu Fuß erreichbar sind. Ruhige Lage mit toller Aussicht auf den Außenhafen .Wir waren 2 Wochen dort und würden wieder hinfahren.

Excellent séjour

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour en famille, maison présentant toutes les commodités, conforme à l annonce. Très bonne localisation sur les hauteurs de port en Bessin, vue sur la mer et sur le port. A 5min à pied du centre (marché, criée, restaurants, boulangerie, petits commerces). De bons molets pr remonter jusqu'à la maison mais rien de problématique ! Nous recommandons vivement.

Accueil parfait. Maison bien équipée, décorée et propre. Toutefois dommage que la haie végétale devant les fenêtres de la cuisine et du salon cachent la superbe vue sur la mer.

Séjour agréable

La maison est très bien située, en haut du port, nous avons profité de la vue, du vélo route nous emmenant à Omaha Beach sans oublier la plage sauvage de St Honorine des Pertes. Le marché du port, les restaurants et boutiques sont à proximité et appréciables. Balades à cheval du côté de Colleville-sur-Mer et l'accrobranche à Cussy sont de chouettes activités à partager en famille. Merci à Astrid pour l'accueil !

Genoten in Port en Bessin Huppain

De accommodatie ligt op een geweldige locatie. Het uitzicht is prachtig en je loopt in enkele minuten naar de haven en gezellige dorpskern. De locatie is erg geschikt om meerdere D day stranden te bezoeken, Mont saint Michel, pont du hoc, de Amerikaanse begraafplaats etc. Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien. Ook dat het op een helling van maarliefst 18 procent lag vonden wij geen probleem, je hebt niet voor niets zo’n prachtig uitzicht. Het enige min puntje is de oprit, daar zit een nare betonnen rand op die de bodem van je auto goed kan beschadigen als je niet weet hoe je er precies op moet rijden als je voor de eerste keer parkeert. Ondanks dat..genoten van onze week Normandie.

Super séjour post-deconfinement

Nous avons profité à plein du week-end de l'ascension, la maison est très agréable et la situation est super avec vue sur mer. Port en Bessin est très chouette et très calme.

Great stay at Port-en-Bessin

The house was a nice walking distance to shops in Port-en-Bessin (although up and down the hill into the town made for good exercise). Quiet. Nice hiking from the house. Astrid, the property manager, was wonderful. She was very responsive to our communication and also very aware of the covid measures (she always wore a mask when at the house during check-in or check-out or when exchanging towels and linens. We especially enjoyed fresh seafood from the market on the pier and the public markets on Saturday.

Sehr schöner Normandie-Urlaub

Sehr nette Wohnung, gut geeignet für eine Familie mit 2 (auch älteren Kindern). Gut ausgestattet, sehr schöne Lage aber leider kein Strand in Gehentfernung, da die Wege über die Klippen gesperrt sind. Ein zusätzlicher Topf in mittlerer Größe wäre für die Küchenausstattung vorteilhaft.

Très bon séjour

La maison, très lumineuse était idéale pour nous 4. la grande chambre séparable avec un rideau et le bureau de l'étage ont permis à tous de trouver des moments d'intimité, quand nous n'étions pas en balade. Port en Bessin est très bien placé et très agréable. L'activité portuaire ainsi que le fait de pouvoir acheter du poisson frais juste pêché était appréciable! Le contact avec le propriétaire et sa représentante sur place s'est très bien passé. A recommander !

Loved it

Every aspect of this house suited us ideal for two adults. Superb location with short walk to the lovely port and free fireworks every Friday evening. Only one problem? That driveway entrance needs levelling out as I scraped my car underneath even being very careful. Would stay again anytime 😊
