Very nice for a quiet getaway, everything we needed and more.
David was very hospitable and informative. The hike up the mountain is fun, There was a good trail, has some up to it but doable, it's the mountains. The cabin is perfect for a quiet getaway, relaxing on the porch and watching the creek in front or the mountains in back. We were comfortable there. Close to everything, and still private, we saw Biltmore and Chimney Rock and lots more.
Thanks again Dave.
Kenneth, Thanks for the review, I appreciate that I got to meet your family, and I feel like I know your family, and you fit right in. Your family is welcome any time. Thanks again, David Gilliam
Cozy Christmas at Jake's Cabin :)
First off, David was there to welcome us when we came! He showed us around the cabin and made sure we had everything we needed. Even before we drove up there he called us and checked in with us a few days before to make sure he answered any questions we might have. The cabin truly had everything we needed. He made sure we had a landline phone and the number of it so we could tell friends and family how to contact us since cell reception was spotty in the mountains. There was free wifi and the cable was great! There was everything you needed to cook in the kitchen and plates, utensils, cups, etc. There was soap and extra paper towels. There was even lotion in the bathroom. There was a washing machine and dryer if we ever needed. There were so many towels and linens and blankets. There were extremely comfy chairs in the living room including a very nice rocking chair. There was a backup heater and flashlights/lamps in case of an emergency. There were cute little decorations around the cabin that made it feel very homely. There were even board games, card games, and puzzles for some family fun. There were books too and little radio/CD player. Overall, the cabin had a spacious yet cozy feel and was very clean. The porch swings were really nice as well. Both porches looked like nice spots to relax and enjoy nature. It was a little too cold for us Floridians, so we did not spend as much time on the porches as we liked but hope to do so if we come back another time. There was a creek that provided nice, relaxing almost meditative sounds if you sat on the porch. There was a trail leading to the top of the mountain (we did not make it all the way to the top), but it was beautiful and good exercise. The area is beautiful in general. The drives were very scenic (that was a plus since most stores, restaurants etc were 30 min away and the nearest towns/cities were about 40 min away). It was remote, but there were still neighbors. It never felt unsafe. It felt very peaceful and a nice way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city life. We will never forget the memorable Christmas we had in this cabin! This was a really great find and we could not have asked for a better host!
Hi Persad family, Thanks for the review, you all have a beautiful Family. I enjoyed having you as a guest at Jake's Cabin!! I felt that I had known your Family a long time, You are welcome at Jake's Cabin. I hope you had a safe trip Home. Thanks for everything! David Gilliam
Real nice cabin. Secluded for privacy but still close to I40.
We really enjoyed our stay even though we left a little early because of sleet and power lines down. Just can’t control the weather LOL. Looking forward to going back when weather is a little warmer. Thank you David for the apple cake. It was delicious. We really enjoyed talking with you.
This is a perfect spot to “get away!” Jake’s Cabin has everything you need to just escape and relax.
We were here for our Anniversary. We stayed in more than we went out, because the cabin was so perfectly “homey” and inviting!
Our host, David, met us upon our arrival, after dark, and visited for a while before we “moved in.” We enjoyed the story of the Cabin and surroundings. He was very gracious and genuinely happy to meet us. Our time here was too short, but will remain in our memories forever.
David was such a great host! I would recommend this cabin to anybody. Overall great experience!!!
We have stayed here twice now and it so quiet and off the beaten path. Cozy, warm and feels like home. Not far from Ashville, Marion, Burnsville and Old Forte. The owner of the cabin is super nice and had apples and cookies left on the counter for us. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
(1)If you are traveling East on I-40, West on I-26, East or I-26, when you get to Asheville stay on, or get on I-40 East, Go 20 miles to Old Fort take the second exit, turn Right and pass McDonalds, Stay on Bat Cave Rd. 7.0 miles, on your left you will (pass) a big sign (Gateway Mountain)as you are In a right horse shoe curve, go around the next left curve and go left on Cedar Creek 0.5 miles the House is on the right.
