SUMMARY
South Shields is a traditional coastal town and is one of the region's most popular resorts. The town's Sandhaven Beach claimed the Sunday Times Beach of the Year in 2022. As well as the golden sands and spectacular skies, the beaches offer the dramatic natural backdrop of Trow Rocks and the Leas.
Arbeia, which is in a quiet residential area of the town known as Lawe Top, is ideally located to explore the Northeast and Northumberland yet within easy walking distance to the town and the beach. The apartment has a lovely view of the mouth of the mighty River Tyne as it enters the North Sea. Guests have reported that the sunsets are amazing!
Recently refurbished to a high standard, the apartment is a self-contained modern, fresh two-bedroom property, ideal for families, friends and business stays alike.
Pets are generally accepted but prior approval is required and an additional fee may apply.
THE SPACE
Arbeia is a first floor apartment and sleeps four people. The main bedroom contains a double and a single bed (ideal for couples with a child) and the second bedroom has a single bed. The apartment has a pleasant, well-appointed and fully equipped kitchen as well as a spacious living room to relax in.
The property benefits from a small back yard with patio area with table and chairs exclusively for guest use. The front of the property overlooks the mouth of the River Tyne, and the Arbeia Roman Fort and Visitor Centre can be seen to the rear.
The downstairs apartment has one bedroom and sleeps 3 and can be booked separately if you would like to search for Tyne View.
GUEST ACCESS
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the apartment are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
There is free on-street parking to the front of the property as well as a free car park to the rear for larger vehicles.
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Arbeia is situated in a quiet residential area of South Shields, yet only 10 minutes' walking distance from the spectacular northeast coastline. As well as an array of coastal visitor attractions, including the Blue Flag Sandhaven Beach, South Shields offers a vibrant pub scene and a fantastic array of restaurants. Several of town's restaurants have won awards (Colmans Seafood Temple and Delhi 6 Indian street to name but two) offering guests exciting eating experiences which are accessible on foot!
There is a pub (The Harbour Lights) around the corner from the property, currently serving food.
The Haven Point leisure centre, which has two large swimming pools, a gym, café and sauna, is only 10 minutes' walk away.
GETTING AROUND
25 minutes on the Metro will bring you to Newcastle City Centre and 15 minutes to central Sunderland. 10 minutes by car and you are in the Tyne Tunnel which is the gateway to Northumberland and Scotland. Direct access to the A194 (M) South and A19 South is less than 5 miles away.
