Wonderful light and airy apartment in a terrific part of Paris.

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this apartment! It was not fancy but has wood floors, high ceilings and lovely views of the street. It is well located with restaurants, shops and bars within close walking distance. Museums and the river close by. Comfortable beds and furniture. We felt like we were residents of Paris.

User friendly with Easy check in and out

  • 3 of 5

Very nice to have access to check in without having to arrange meeting a person. The key is readily available at the residence and everything there worked as it should. Kitchen and bathroom are a little tight but completely functional. Unfortunately in the bathroom there is not a hook for the showerhead (must be used as a handhold only) which is quite awkward for those of us used to showering only! Ultimately had everything we needed, with plenty of space with the two bedrooms.

Great location with an experience of Parisian lifestyle

  • 4 of 5

Our family (2 adults and 3 children 5 -12 years) fitted perfectly into this little gem of an apartment in the bustling, upbeat and friendly area of Le Marais. The apartment is as described in the listing, and as reviewed by others. The communication from Valentine was prompt and courteous, I felt that if there was any problems with the apartment we would have had support. We enjoyed the quirks and differences of the apartment (however the hand-held shower was hated by my husband!) and we all loved opening the windows and letting the street and cafe noises drift up. We did have a poor timing stay by way of renovation works in the space directly below us (woken by hammering/ drilling each day), it looks to be close to finished so that may help future stays. The location was just fab for food, shopping and sightseeing. The kitchen was very well equipped and we ate in a few times (lovely on a warm night with the windows open) as there is a full-sized refrigerator and an oven. We had fine warm weather so walked mostly, however there is a lot of options for public transport nearby. We'd have loved our stay to last longer, 8 nights wasn't enough, so much to eat, see and do! Thanks to Alice and Valentine for sharing your sweet apartment and giving us the taste of Paris, we hope to be back!

Owner's Response: Thank you Jetta, Yes, I am sorry about the makeover downstairs. It seems to take more time than expected. We are happy that you enjoyed our place anyway. Thank you, Val

The Paris Experience

  • 4 of 5

We had been on vacation for 4 1/2 weeks and this was our last stop before flying back to the United States. We had started our vacation in Paris and was ending it in Paris, having traveled to three other countries during this vacation. Our first stay in Paris at the beginning of our trip was alright, but we felt secluded in that apartment so we felt we didn't really have that "Paris" experience we were looking for. We knew this apartment was "cozy" but we didn't care because we were excited about returning to Paris. This apartment had it all...the noise of the hustle and bustle of Paris, the view, the charm, the quirkiness of the layout, the vintage feel...we felt as though we were having the "Paris" experience we did not have the first part of our trip and we loved it. It was a good way to end our vacation.

Lovely apartment for a family in a fantastic location

  • 4 of 5

Our family of five (2 adults and 3 kids aged 5, 3 and 1) stayed for two weeks at Valentine and Alice's apartment in the heart of the Marais. The location is excellent and very convenient with a supermarket, fruit shops, boulangeries, fromageries and cafes on its doorstep. There is a metro at the end of the street, or it is very easy to walk to Hotel de Ville (near BHV) for a number of great bus routes. It was wonderful to sit at night by the open window in the living room with a glass of wine and feel a part of the vibrant area (there is a lively cafe directly across the street), but know that our kids were safely tucked away in bed. But shut the windows, and you do not hear any noise at all.

The apartment is on the first floor (no lift) but is manageable even with prams and small kids. It is well equipped with a comfortable couch, table and dining chairs and the kitchen is small but thoughtfully designed with a microwave, large fridge, etc (the kettle does need replacing due to limescale). However, I would say the apartment is more suitable for a family rather than couples due to the layout (main bathroom off main bedroom, so you need to be familiar!). The second bedroom is very good size and easily fit our portable cot and suitcases as well as double bed. The foyer is very useful for shoes, prams, hanging coats, backpacks, etc.

Do note that the floorboards are extremely creaky and all the doors need a good push to open and close, so if you have light sleepers, do take this into consideration. That said, the area is surprisingly very quiet at night and we never had any issues with outside noise. The bedrooms do not have wardrobes, just small chests with drawers, however there is a cupboard in the hallway with about 10 hangers. Perhaps some more are needed, as well as an iron or ironing board, for those that prefer to hang clothes. Additionally, the washing machine/dryer is very handy to have, however it did shrink some of our clothes, so a clothes hanger, would be useful to have for the option to air dry laundry. The wi-fi can also be a little temperamental but when working, the speed was good.

Valentine was very easy to deal with via email for all requests, including an early check-in, and kindly provided fans when a heatwave hit Paris during our stay. I would highly recommend this apartment and would happily stay again.

It is a very quaint place in a fantastic location.

  • 5 of 5

It was perfect for our family of five and we really loved it. It is true that The kitchen is very small, it is a hand-held shower, and the toilet is in a different space behind the kitchen door. All part of the experience. There is a pull out sofa for the fifth person to sleep. We loved sitting in the den with the windows open listening to the sounds below and having the breeze come in. Very convenient shopping right down the street. Place des Vosges several blocks down - must visit for a picnic. Would highly recommend!
